    • @@gt4654 your response stands as proof that most parents don't have a friggin' clue how to raise kids, let alone how to educate them. Indoctrinating kids, now, there's where a majority of parents excel, largely because they'll have support from their church or their "racial" group, or their "class" group, at shoving their prejudices and fairytales down their children's throat. Parents are great at filling a kid's head with bullshit, and usually because they can't be arsed to be honest and say, "I don't know about that". I won't even start to touch upon their ignorance re: truly negative social influences on children from outside the family because, again, the vast majority of parents are getting it wrong there, too. Between guns, climate, drugs, crime, and bullying, the scope is too fast to cover, but the fact that a large segment of the parental population blame entirely unconnected issues as the influence instead of a consequence or just a response to the real issues, is telling. Kids don't learn to be gay or trans adults, they just are gonna be if they already are. They're gonna listen to music that speaks to them, they're gonna play the games available that they enjoy, they're gonna be friends with who they like, and they're gonna view the people who order them around with resentment. PS: You attacked the commenter (not the statement) who basically said the exact same thing as you did, just more elegantly. That is why your post is proof of the OPs comment. If your parents had known best, and done best by you, you wouldn't have gotten defensive to the point that you went on offense. You wouldn't have been triggered.

  • One other thing here, teaching children that life isn't actually all heterosexual, and as Russell says tolerance too, But it's more than that. I struggled for over four Decades thinking I was broken heterosexual. I had never heard of Asexuality. I am Classic description Asexual. I wasn't broken, I just didn't know there was a name for my sexuality, let alone that others felt the same. Thanks to the Internet today's kids aren't going to have Decades of believing themselves to be broken, they're going to know, and eventually through schools too, that Asexuality also exists. We're 1 in 100 apparently. Yet since I've talked about it, another four people I know, ranging from mid 30s to mid 60s have Also realised that they too are Asexual. I think the real figures are higher. I'm also Aromantic too, which explains so much! But my father was extremely Homophobic so I could never tell him. My mother wasn't just understanding, she totally recognised this was me. I long for a world where everyone can be free to be open about their sexuality and live in total safety 🌈

Do you realise how damaging it is for MY life that you feel that way? Do you NOT understand how disastrous this will be for me in my personal life moving forward?!" • @@melchiorlise2466 well, conflating a social construct as terminology for a biological concept which has been proven to exist within a non-binary continuum... Isn't gonna get us any closer to helping you understand that womanhood is not a biological marker. A woman is someone who expresses the socially agreed traits associated with womanhood, such as patience, motherliness, feminine aesthetical choices for the most part, and may have some physical features ASSOCIATED with the female phenotype. Just because something is a social construct, doesn't make it an unrealistic thing. It is very real, in the minds of those who consider themselves a woman or a man. But here, on the outside, we're just people.

      @audreydoyle5268@audreydoyle52685 ай бұрын
    • @@audreydoyle5268 Being a woman is about more than having long hair, wearing dresses and calling yourself a woman. We weren't oppressed since the dawn of mankind, raped, forced to have children, because we "exhibit socially agreed traits associated with womanhood". We got oppressed because we are biologically different from men, because we have vaginas, because we can have children, because we are physically weaker. When I think of a woman it's implicit I think "biological" woman and most people are like me. Trying to dissociate us from the concept of woman won't do any good, at some point the word will stop meaning anything for us, and we will once more be sorting people with "biological male" and "biological female". And then what. Call yourself whatever you want, dress however you want, date whoever you want and stop trying to redefine the meaning of a word so you can feel more valid at the expense of people who earned that word.
