I think the core of the issue that pisses off so many people is just how fucking anti-climactic these deaths are.
I think it's a multilayered issue. On their own, you may have a point, but add in the fact that this was Kevin Conroy's last Batman role before his death, and suddenly Harley calling him a mentally ill loner and and shooting him while he's brainwashed and sitting on a bench feels like a slap in the face.
These deaths didnt make any sense. They literally made the whole justice league in one game to kill them off like that.

This has to be an alternate universe to the Arkhamverse, I just can’t accept that this is how The Batman who defeated the entire island of Arkham asylum, Stopped protocol 10 and an almost immortal Joker, and defeated an entire army of specially trained soldiers by his former sidekick and his fear mongering boss all while not only dealing with tons of his rogues gallery but also dealing with the Joker trying to takeover his mind and make him crazy (ALL IN ONE NIGHT!!!!) is killed off. I just can’t accept this how his legacy ends, how this is the send off for Kevin Conroy, it just doesn’t feel right.
Not to mention 10 assassin's he beat, which were a MUCH bigger threat than these dorks Deathstroke would kick their ass alone

Honestly this feels like its trying to just be The Boys in the DC Universe without the over-the-top sexual kinks. This scene and Harley's dialogue could have been written by Garth Ennis (but written for Butcher) where its a verbal takedown on a popular superhero and associated tropes before the superhero just anticlimactically dies getting shot (like a lot of the Supes in the comic get).
The thing is, what The Boys does works for it because it gives you every reason to hate the supes, while these are some of the most heroic and iconic characters killed off like just some random person

The Boys is actually pretty funny if you read it as what it is: satire. I enjoyed it a lot, I think it was a pretty good read. The show is definitely better though.
The most disrespectful ending to one of the best, if not the best incarnation of Batman they could have come up with. The one character that made them, who they are. Another great hero of the last century falls to piss poor writing. Shame on you Rocksteady. Shame on you.

You can always depend on giant corporations to ruin IPs at some point. There has to be a mathematical formula to this.
It’s not though. The Arkham games are great games, but Arkham batman is pretty cookie cutter Batman. There’s basically no Bruce Wayne in it, which already neuters a big chunk of the character. The backstory he gets is just the cliffnotes version of the bog standard story we already know. His detective nature is always just following obviously clues or scanning to see footprints or paint written in invisible ink, he doesn’t do much impressive detective work. He’s smart but we are hardly ever shown the mastermind strategist that he is. Arkham Batman is a decent Batman, but he’s just DECENT. Batman from the animated universe is an infinitely better representation of the character than Arkham Batman. Arkham Batman is just a very standard Batman, they don’t do all that much with the character, and the few things they do do are just watered down versions of storylines that have been explored in far more depth in other media.

The entire character arc of Batman in Arkham Knight was him fighting to stop Joker from taking control of his body, because he did not want to be a killer. That was like, the whole point. That internal struggle as Joker consistently appeared to berate and pressure Bruce into slipping and doing the thing he had sworn never to, and ultimately the strength of Batman's will allows him to cage Joker, thus ending the nightmare and stopping him from killing. Then the next game he's in, he is mind controlled and kills. This completely undermines that entire arc of that game, which I would argue was probably the most prevalent point of that game on a personal level. What is really jarring is this game isn't even taking this particular moment seriously. Go back to Arkham City when Joker dies, there is just this unsettling aura over the whole thing. It feels conclusive, like a bomb dropped. Here Batman gets his head blown off, and Superman chuckles. I understand the title of the game, and quite frankly if the game did a cop out and didn't actually kill them it would feel pretty cheap too, but if we are really going to take this step and do something like this in the game, can it at least attempt to take it seriously? This one guy is the face of the franchise, shooting him and being like "well, it is our franchise now" is not going to endear the audience to this group of characters. Something that the tie in movie Batman: Assault on Arkham did was actually make the squad feel like likeable characters, despite being murderers and criminals. I just don't know what they were going for here, and at the very least I can still go back and enjoy the older games and other pieces of media this game felt was necessary to retcon.

Hey, if this game wants me to believe a white guy was impersonating as Deadshot for years and even felt more interesting than the "real" Deadshot (definitely not one of the worst, most obvious excuses in writing to race-swap a character) then I can believe that this wasn't the real Batman so no, this isn't how the Batman died.
I’m going to leave the fact that this was conroys last performance out of this comment because it wasn’t rocksteadys fault. Had they known it was I’m sure they would’ve given his character a better set off than this if they knew it was the last time he’d ever play Batman again. But even if you take Kevin completely out of the equation this is still a piss poor send off to one of the best dark nights we’ve ever seen. Most of us grew up with this Batman, loving this Batman. The Arkham games are so good they still get played today there’s mountains of content centered around this character and games and this is how rocksteady wants to treat what was once their biggest money maker? Quite a spit in the face to fans I feel bad for anyone who wasted money on this. Thank god I’m not one of them.

The lines were already submitted by Kevin before he died and by then the game was already too late in development to have any rewrites or recasting and even if they could it’s not like they can bring Kevin back. @@dinkknoingswrath4350 Joel was literally the perfect character to kill to justify an Ellie-focused game (which is a fairly natural progression to the first game which has Joel more or less complete his entire possible character arc specifically to save her), and the idea of killing Batman is hardly new either. This game is bad and this death is bad but it isn't some ridiculous anti-white man agenda. Sometimes things are bad because they're just poorly done, not because of secret evil people ruining things on purpose

I get that the game is called "Kill the Justice League". Of course the Justice League has to die. But why did they set it in the Arkham universe? I would've been fine if this was in its own universe, but the fact that the Arkham Batman canonically dies a villain is terrible. It would be like if Tony Stark got brainwashed in the MCU and was killed by Justin Hammer before he could've come to his senses. That's fine in an alternate universe with a Tony we never bonded with, but would be a slap in the face in the MCU.

What makes people so mad is the fact that the end of both the Arkham Batman and Kevin's role as Batman ended like this. As for the studio itself, they can't keep hiding behind we didn't know it was Kevin's last performance. It was one hundred percent in their control to pull this scene from the game before launching it, but they kept it in there anyway. Even if they completely removed the game and say it's no longer cannon, the damage has already been done.
As a side note I would like to add, regardless of whatever Batman content they put out now with Kevin's voice is insufficient in disproving my point. They sold this game as his final performance so we would all show up. I don't care if this game succeeds or dies. I don't care if the entire DC universe blows up in flames. I don't care because I'm so angry I am numb.

Some people think that everyone is pissed just because they killed Batman, but that’s not the the point. What triggered all Batman Arkham fans was the fact that they simply killed him off like he was some random npc. After everything Rocksteady has built with these games of the course of years, killing him like that is just low key disrespectful and stupid. To make matters worse, this was the last time Kevin played the character before he passed away.

I wish Kevin's last performance as the Batman was in a better game with a better story for the Bat. In here you either die a hero in Knight, or live long enough to see yourself become a villain in Suicide Squad... At this point I'll just consider Kill the Justice League as *non-canon* To respect Mr Conroy, his death as Batman in Arkham Knight may be for Bruce Wayne. He will rest in peace, but forever but as a symbol he will live forever through in of us. Afterall he is vengeance. He is the night. He is Batman.

I think the reason I feel a little off with how the Justice league being killed goes is because they don’t even try to break them free of control or see how they truly lost and never could, that and each death aside from Batman end in them falling over at the end if the fights and seems uneventful, each hero isn’t blindly following orders like a drone but have their full personality just twisted, I’d like the think they were truly killed and broken to the point the mind control is a warped reconstruction of what was before

Well if you think about it, he never took on multiple supervillains at the same time. Every supervillain he fought was either on their own or had a few goons during the fight. So, it makes sense that a team could beat him.

Harley’s rationale for killing Batman isn’t even consistent. In City, Joker died due to his own idiocy. Batman was struggling with curing him, Joker stabbed him, Batman dropped the cure. Batman said “After everything you did, I would’ve saved you.” Joker killed himself.
But like, the justice league in this verse had so much potential. I feel like they shoulda done more before just introducing them and killing them right after
If they weren’t morons they would’ve not killed the justice league and they would’ve made them unlockable playable characters after you defeat each one. Instead they 1)ruined Kevin conroy’s send off 2)ruined the Arkham Batman and 3) left a really bad taste in everyone’s mouths by killing our favorite characters
I don’t actually understand where all the hate comes from. I think on some level Batman understood that he needs to be killed, so he didn’t put up a fight, and actually faced his execution like a badass.
This could of been a good and interesting game if 1. it was An else world story 2. Each Justice league member had multiple death cutscenes and different ways to kill them 3. it was a different game entirely

Suicide sqaud vs the justice league comic did this so much better. Same concept, everyone is mind control but them. As they arent thought of by the villain. Batman has a plan so he doesnt get brainwashed. Having bats be with them makes it more realistic when they take the league down. This game is so nonsensical, like wtf
