I'm Julia, a contemporary singing specialist, and today's video is a reaction to Dimash Kudaibergen performing Love is Like a Dream. I requested (of my subs) another stripped back song from Dimash and while I wouldn't say this song is 'stripped back' (the arrangement is still fairly full) it is definitely enjoyable and worth exploring and, I'm so glad you guys suggested it.

Dear Julia, I haven't heard you mention him yet so, the piano player is composer Igor Krutoy who composed this song the year Dimash was born. This was to honor the woman who first sang this song. Now Igor is with Dimash composing new songs just for him & his talent. He has already composed Ogni Pietra & Passione & Your Love as well as reworked songs for him. Your Love lyrics was written by 1 of Dimash's idols Lara Fabian, who also has a strong bond with Igor. 🎶👱♀️👗👠👠💓

Your comments about silent breath made me smile, thinking of Lara Fabian. She sang this song, with the same pianist / composer, "Maestro" Igor Krutoy. Dimash holds great admiration for Lara and she has been an inspiration to him. She has beautiful tone, impeccable technique, outstanding breath control and provides captivatingly emotional performances. Lara is, in my opinion, one of the greatest contemporary singers in the world. (I generally dislike statements like that, but they really apply to people like Lara and Dimash.) While I'm sure she is capable of silent breath, Lara actually uses breath to great effect in conveying emotion, and it forms an integral part of her performances. She sometimes seems to teeter on the edge of breaking down and crying, while somehow still maintaining perfect control. Please react to Ti Amo Cosi, a beautiful performance featuring Russian Opera singer Aida Garifullina, Lara Fabian and Dimash - with Igor at the piano. I'm sure you will also get a lot of requests for Lara's earlier work, which is incredible. Igor also wrote Ogni Pietra specifically for Dimash. You have already received multiple requests for that one. It will blow you away.
This song has been Alla's, and she set the standard, since Igor Krutoy composed it, and the Russian singers sang versions as well. I'll have to look for Laura Fabian's too. I'm sure it's exquisite.

Great reaction! That 16 second belt of a single note at the end seems to go on forever, doesn't it? It's long, but the 23 second RUN at the end of Sinful Passion still blows my mind every time I hear it. There are 4 levels of singers: Good/Better/Best... or... Beginner/Average/Expert... and then there's Dimash.

For an emotional Dimash performance without too many vocal fireworks try "Autumn Strong" (or "Late Autumn" depending on which video you use) Episode 4 of Singer 2017. See the version on Gloria Wu's channel for the intro with the backstory and subtitles.(use the "cc"button to see what he is saying). It was a song in Mandarin he sang to the Chinese audience. Many feel that knowing the backstory makes a big difference to the overall emotional impact, because the lyrics are pretty non specific. There is another factor though. You might want to switch to another version available with Eng. subs after the intro because the Gloria Wu video runs slower, and ends up a semi-tone lower. This was possibly done to avoid copyright problems, and may rule her version out as something you would want to react to.

Whenever I see Igor at the piano at the beginning of a Dimash performance I know it’s going to be especially memorable. The ethereal - yes absolutely the right word - vocalizations beginning at 5:43 are transcendent. We can feel safe with Dimash guiding our epic journey.

One of Dimash’s top performances. Thanks for a really informative review. I heard Dimash perform this live in Düsseldorf last year (with Igor) and it was virtually identical. The final note seems to go on for ever.

Thanks, Julia for all the insight you provide on Dimash's performances. You commented on the "silent breath." One thing I like about Dimash is his ability to use the sound of his intake of breath as a component of the emotion he is conveying to reinforce the plaintive nature of the particular section of the song that he is in. You'll hear him breathe when he wants you to, but if it doesn't serve to assist him in elevating the emotion in his performance, nothing is heard. It seems each performance by Dimash is a master class in dynamics.

To top his singing prowess, he is bringing that young Johny Depp handsomeness to the table for all you young ladies and gentlemen who love that look. Speaking of looks, our host, on this review channel, has to be one of the most beautiful red-headed young ladies I've evver laid eyes on. Just breathtakingly beautiful. And that hair... I could run my fingers through those firey locks for hours and just watch the light dance of the sheen of it. This is true physical beauty. And to boot, she is intelligent with an apparent great personality. Where was she when I was looking for my perfect woman? (Too young to consider, and half a world away, apparently, if she was even born yet). Don't get me wrong, I love my wife to death do us part, and would never trade her in for a newer model, but this young lady was my dream girl when I was groing up. Just saying. Some times, life has different plans, and my life turned out better than my original plan, mate wise. Thank you God, You are far wiser than I, that's for sure.

Agreeably one of Dimash’s most emotional songs, but not the only one. Another beautiful and poignant performance is Daybreak. Tragic and very powerful on an emotional level. Dimash has the capacity to captivate anyone with a soul. He breathes life into the weariness of daily living and introduces a quiver of anticipation every time you listen to his voice. His entire being exudes positivity and light. Beautiful voice and being.

He probably had 6 seconds left in the tank by the time he finished. Dimash regularly takes his phrases at least 4 counts more than I expect him to do.

Its interesting that if u hear from 8:00, when the instruments timed perfectly with dimash’s voice,,, that entire instrumental composition for that belt (at that tempo) was already ~13 sec long. U can hear the strings instruments “flattening” their notes at 8:13, n just waiting for dimash to finish. That means dimash was already OK with a 13 sec belt + a few seconds to close it off. And he added another 5 sec to that belt and the instruments just had to keep playing until they were cued to stop. 😳😳😳

i noticed that some of Dimash's breaths are loud and some quiet and some are silent. I have seen this video so many times but I never noticed that vibrato then straight/vibrato before! That was pretty smooth.😏
