VOCAL COACH REACTS | DIMASH KUDAIBERGEN... SOS... FIRST TIME LISTENING TO HIM EVER.

Welcome!
I'm Julia, a contemporary singing specialist based in Australia and in this video I will be reacting to Dimash Kudaibergen singing SOS on Chinese TV show I Am A Singer (歌手). This is my first time listening to Dimash (I know, apparently I have been living under a rock) so I hope you enjoy my react! If you did please like, subscribe and click the bell.
There is one part of the video where I go into a little detail about whistle notes. My off-hand comment was "ok, ok so uh, we just heard Dimash approach a whistle register, it's almost there but that's still really high for a male I wonder how high he can go in a pure whistle". If you aren't interested in that please skip forward to 6:47 to continue with the react. Also please forgive my drawings I am not THAT kind of arts graduate.... I just make, teach and coach the vocal noises :)
Let me know if there is anything you'd like me to react to in the comments!
For lesson or vocal assessment enquiries please get in touch via my website: jvoxstudio.com

  • Dimash was completely unknown in China when he sang this his first song in the Chinese show "The Singer." The following morning his life changed when he got 600 Million hits on Weibo the Chinese Instagram. For the rest of the series he needed security guards because he had so many fans. After the show finished the Kasakhstan Government decided to sponsor his first solo concert in Bastau where 30,000 people from many different countries came to see him. He is now a Megastar in Kasakhstan, China and Russia, and has fans all over the world. Last December he sold-out the Barclays Center, New York 19,000. He is the only singer in the world who is able to sing Any style of music (Opera, Jazz, Folk, Rap etc) in any register (Baritone, Tenor, Contralto, Soprano) to Top Professional Standard. He is utterly Unique. 😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿👍

  • Btw and FYI; Dimash was offered a position at the Astana Opera (Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan), but, he decided to carve out his career in contemporary music, mixing classical elements and traditional Kazakh music with pop music

  • My brother was a principal opera singer in Baz Luhrman’s La Boheme.ive watched a lot of opera and am classically trained in voice and flute.I am a complete novice and my brother is a scrub in comparison to what Dimash can do in one song, lol.....seriously, my family’s resume doesn’t even fit in Dimash’s pinky! the dude has continued to train since the age of 5, plays about 8 instruments, sings in 12 different languages, composes music himself and collaborates with Igor Krutoy, for example, the Russian opera award winner-‘Ogni Pietra’/‘Olympico’ (in Italian), the gothic Italian masterpiece ‘Passione’, ‘Vocalise’-‘Know’, ‘Love is like a Dream’ (Russian), Ti Amo Cosi (Italian) where he sings in bass/baritone to Aida Garifullina’s soprano and Lara Fabian’s crystal clear pop tones. When he was about 15 he composed ‘Unforgettable Day’ ? Sung In Kazakh. At Gakku he sang it and he hits a sustained D8 with vibrato! He’s a vocal god! I’ve got almost perfect pitch and he is always pitch perfect.....HOW? He seems to thrive the larger the audience and the higher the stakes live. Amazing 25 year old man. Throw alll the superlatives you can think of at him. He is the absolute, perfect complete package.

  • And legend has it that there is no turning back once you've known Dimash and been Dimashified 😂 But jokes aside, thank you for reacting to Dimash, and welcome to the wonderworld of Dimash that will bring you up and down in the rollercoaster ride. Each song will reveal a new side of him that will leave you blown away for sure. And thanks for the explanation with the pictures, it makes it easy to understand (and cute too). Please react to Sinful Passion if you still want to continue reacting to him. Thanks again Julia, stay safe!! 😊

  • This is a song from a French Rock Opera in 1978 or 79. The original singer had a 4.5 octave range. Dimash at this point has a 6 octave 2 semi-tone range. He was 22 years old at the time and will be 26 on May 24, 2020. The people saying wow here are Dimash's competitors.

  • Great reaction! And welcome to the world of Dimash! Each of us at one time was in the same cultural shock. We have been ill with Dimashemania for 3 years! ))) A little about Dimash: - he is from Kazakhstan and he will be 26 years old in 24May - engaged in vocals since 5 years - its range is 6 octaves and 5 half tones (A1-D8) - performs in the style of: classic crossover, neoclassic, rock, pop, opera, rap ... - singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist - sings in Kazakh, Russian, English, Chinese, French, Italian, Ukrainian, Serbian and other languages - gained wide fame in the world after the first round of the Chinese project "I am a singer" in 2017. He was invited to the project as an experiment, as a foreign contestant. On the project he took 2nd place (the Chinese simply could not give 1 place to a non-Chinese contestant). - in the fall of 2019 he gave a three-hour recital at NY Barclay Center - the first and so far the only album went platinum in 37 seconds. And in an hour tal thrice platinum! ..

Here are other amazing performances: Sinful Passion Opera 2 The Show Must Go On Adagio performance at The Singer 2017 All by Myself Olympico also know as Ogni Pietra for his best song,a masterpiece composed by Pianist and composer Igor Krustoy specially for Dimash’s voice for the European Games Fancam and Arnau concert are the best versions. Autumn Strong see it at Gloria Wu channel Daybreak see at Gloria Wu channel Gloria Wu has most song with English Subtitles and back story the will help you connect deeper with the music and also see a bit of Dimash’s personality,he is very humble, always gives 110% in all his performances,he loves his family, friends and fans call us Dears. Also all song st Gloria Wu channel and Dimash channel are copyright free,I like recommend otherwise sooner or later you’ll get a copyright strike in your channel. Welcome to Dimash’s World,I love to see new reactions specially from Vocal Coaches getting stun, blown away and even emotional yes in some song you’ll need a tissue box near, don’t say I didn’t warn you, lol.

  • Seeing first time Vocal Coach reactions to Dimash are the best. After that it gets like the countless other reactions repeating themselves. There's not much anyone can say about Dimash that hasn't already been said. Hopefully you won't overdo it. After the shock and awe factor of your first time experience my favorite part of the reaction was the judges "wow" comment you made about boosting ratings. Thank you for pointing that out. So many people listen to the judges cover for a weak performance and believe it. Maybe in the future you would consider checking out OG3NE, three sisters from Holland that have that "family something" like the Bee Gees when it comes to harmonies. They created a style of singing they call "echoing" that is really unique and interesting. Also of note would be Aussie girl Larissa Lambert. She's in LA now working her way up. Keep the honesty rolling!! ( Because you appear to be new at the reaction video game you should be told; Dimash and Floor Jansen/Nightwish have some die-hard fans and if you say anything other than they are the best and greatest thing you have ever heard some of them will have a fit. LMAO.)

  • One of the effects of those who listen to Dimash is to react genuinely like you. He is a very humble and simple boy, but at the same time he is a perfectionist and if at this moment he leaves us stunned with his talent, imagine after time the level that he will reach. I also suggest the video soundtrack of the movie Creators: The Past, Across Endless Dimensions, your imagination will fly and with a superb ending.

  • Dear Julia, as well as what Jeremy P commented, you have to know that you can find videos with subtitles and stories for Dimash songs on the channels Gloria Wu and his channel Dimash Kudaibergen. Also, he has been training since age 5, he plays 7 instruments, he sings in 12 languages, he has been studying Mandarin (Chinese) & English & dance & is getting better in all 3, he practices 3 hours every day, he did a video since the virus tiled We Are One & has donated over 20 tons of food & medical supplies to help.

  • There have been hundreds of performers of this song since 1976, but not one has any vocal data to perform it like Dimash did! Maestro Michel Berger, for sure, would have been happy if it was such a performer who would have come to him for an audition - all the notes were effortlessly taken, and how much strength and tenderness in this performance, what actor’s presentation of each line exactly according to the content of the song. "S.O.S." Dimasha, like a scarf with a magical aroma, flying over the square in the "Perfumer" - one wave and everyone is fascinated! The tone is incredible, penetrating the very heart! S.O.S. of a Man in Distress "Starmania" (french rock opera). Music - Michel Berger, text - Luc Plamondon Why do I live, why do I die? Why do I live, why do I cry? Here is the SOS of a man in distress I've never had both feet upon the ground I'd rather be a bird I don't fit into this skin I'd like to see the world turned upside down If ever it were beautiful It's lovelier from above, from above I've always confused life with the comic strips Even wished I could transform I feel something That draws me That draws me That draws me up Into the great lotto of the universe I don't have the right numbers I don't fit into this skin I don't want to be a robot Eating, working, sleeping Why do I live, why do I die Why do I live, why do I cry I think I'm catching waves From another world I've never had both feet upon the ground I'd rather be a bird I'd like to see the world turned upside down I'd rather be a bird Sleep, child, sleep...

  • From what I can tell, Dimash doesn't jump into Whistle register until F6 and above. He commonly hits Eb6-E6 in many of his pieces, and this is considered a "head voice" in the operatic world - Much fuller than his whistle notes.

  • Be advised that the producers of the Singer series videos, Hunan TV is very aggressive with blocks and copyright strikes. Dimash's own channel and or Gloria Wu's channel are far safer bets now. Gloria does sometimes alter audio pitch however. Avoid "Your Love" on Dimash's channel as the producers of the Fashion Show where it Premiered are aggressively blocking it.
