Firing up the John Deere model 40 crawler and a Cat 977 Track Loader
#diesejl #oldiron
Welcome to the channel where today we are checking up on the fleet and winterizing one of the scrapped track loaders we bought. A lot of the equipment we have around we use quite a bit, and then a lot we don't use really at all. Regardless, we need to start it up once a year and go through the motions!!
Have some abandoned equipment you think we would be interested in?? Let us know - forms.gle/vafcVDAm4JVkW8F49

Hey tell your grandpa that the backhoe is top 3 coolest machines I've seen that thing is just beautiful
Amazing
Great video. I’m not disappointed.
Thanks!
Resurrecting the JD 40 was the first vid of yours I watched. Nice to see her run again.
Yeah I gotta get her in the garage and fix the steering clutches
Glow plug a cat and it will always start. Once it’s running turn the switch back to the pre heat till it runs smooth.
Yeah I was amazed how well it started with glow plugs
You got Morgan Wallen there turning wrenches lol
0:52 That camera angle makes it look like the ROPS is 6" tall.
Love the big equipment videos! Thanks for taking the time
I saw where a flush out was used cascade was uses worked great!
Very nice work. Your videos is great thanks

Love your work but you need to park that little dozer somewhere else other than in the long grass cheers

Thanks Phil!
Please don't forget a bucket on the 77 without the trans.
We did… she’s all tucked in with a tarp for the time being!
Love the videos good to see young person like yourself working on old stuff. Please get the JD40 out the weeds haha
Soon!!
very best holiday wishes to you and yours. it is an honor to call you friends. happy new year. and all the best
Thanks Russ!
we call it antifreeze but it needs the water to not freeze as crazy as it sound... the water by itself will freeze around 0C... the antifreeze around -12C if i recall... but both together will go -45C... because they cannot form big ice crystal since the molecule are spaced from each other. so 100% antifreeze will freeze!
Wow!
I never seen a 977 put the other muffler on I love to see it move
Yeah we’re working on it, she’s in rough shape
This was the first video I have watched where it wasn't raining or snowing on your asses
We both have the same problem. Too many machines so they end up sitting. But you just cant get rid of some because each is unique.
Once I can hop in them and turn the key you bet I’ll use them though! Love your videos Andrew!
@@dieseJL Thanks, I need to find a 977 to fix up lol.
When are you going to work on the steering clutches on the 40? Can’t wait to see that
Hopefully this winter. I have the ford about done in the garage and the ditch witch half done in the garage. Soon!
I'm working on a CAT 977L trackloader and my boss bought a "copy CAT" Chinese engine that kind of fits but having a hard time getting all the components to match up. We're gonna have to custom make a lot of things to make this work
Why in the lords name would you do that 😬
@@dieseJL if it was up to me I would've bought a real CAT 3306 for it but here we are lol. I guess the reason is because CAT doesn't build that engine anymore but I've seen plenty for sale elsewhere 🤷🏻♂️
Update: the loader lives again
Hi Mate great video, what would you recommend to un seize a small power washer motor. Was told to take spark plug out pour diesel leave for a week, should be ok.
That’s a good place to start! Depends why it’s seized.
👍👍👍
😃😃😃
When will you fix the MICHIGAN loader to make it move like when it was new ?
fix the torque converter? She moves pretty good as is...
OK 🤔, But a word of caution .. If you dont fix it . ITs gonna crap out when you need the most ! @@dieseJL
What would you take for your golf cart gas or electric? Lmk
Where’s the case?
Up north, I’m sure we’ll go check on that after hunting season.
