I bought a rare Ascari Launch Edition Audi RS5 Sportback as my dream daily driver. Planned out the worlds most outrageous in depth detail that would have been the worlds most expensive detail! But it ended in total disaster.

• Thank you! Always appreciate comments from people in the industry that can understand what's shown in the video but can also understand how much is happening off camera 👍 details like this are a really massive job. Hard to show that in a 40 minute video. Thanks for watching 🙂

• As someone that's a qualified painter, and been doing this all my life, and can tell you everything about Detiling. The best thing without being rude. I agree with this comment. What you do is on a different level, Sometimes for better and for the detriment, usually to yourself and physiology :) I have friends like you, They are So Anal (There not even Greek) Everything has to be perfect, and untill its better than perfect, they cant relax, and due to that no one else around them dare relax :) How ever, there is one person you want with tis unhealthy condition, and that is defiantly, your detailer. This is rare, and your detailer being like this is only beneficial to the customer, and is very hard to find.

• @@canoaslan1011I’m working on getting into this industry on my own. It’s always been a hobby, but it makes me happy. Yes I’m very OCD, about my ride being clean and tight. Only use pro products. Don’t use section 8 Walmart

• Nothing better than seeing an OCD detailing enthusiast/professional detailer do work on their own new daily driver. I think that's when most of us truly unleash and go absolutely ALL out because it's yours to drive and enjoy every day. And that's not taking anything away from how good your work is on your customers' cars, it's just that we always go that extra mile for own cars, IMHO.

• Time to hire someone to Video and Edit your work. No reason you shouldn't have 1/4 million subs. You just need to be able to post more content. It would be worth it to try for a few months and see if you can start getting out a video every week or two.

@TheBCMSB@TheBCMSB3 ай бұрын
• I agree with you. But I might need to film a little different to have a editor. Or just show them the chaotic way I edit lol. Because I'd need to voiceover there edit. Unless I just kinda vlog it and they edit the story together. But a video editor is definitely possible.

@STATUSDETAIL@STATUSDETAIL3 ай бұрын
• I see the challenge. Having a person in charge of videoing while you work will help navigate the editing process and create the structure (story board) you're looking for. I like the longer videos but consider chopping up videos into shorter 15 minute segments, with less detailed narration, . At the end of a project you can promote the full series in a laid back podcast, while you and your team enjoy your favorite beverages, where you can dive deeper into the details. Posting more frequently is the key @@STATUSDETAIL

@TheBCMSB@TheBCMSB3 ай бұрын
• @@TheBCMSB right and Definitely want more frequent posts! I try to keep videos around 20-25 mins. Basically a old school TV show time minus commercials lol. Btw, I have one of these Ascari RS5’s as well - amazing car. Get a 2021+ RS5 Sportback if you can, as it’s quite an all around near supercar. I traded my 2021 S5 convertible for the RS5 (I made the mistake of driving one and fell in love) - the S5 was a beautiful car as well (interior basically the same) and had decent performance stock but can be modded for more if you want. If you go the S5 route, try to find one with the Prestige pkg, as it comes with amazing laser lights and other goodies you can’t get on the lesser packages.

@michaeloakes2017@michaeloakes20172 ай бұрын
• Some people do it to new cars. I personally would not do this. I think it's a great idea when you buy a used car that might be 2 years old or 3 years old. It's a really good idea on a car that's maybe four or five years old that's in good condition but seems to need hydration. The older the car gets the more it can help but there's a cut off point where the letter might just be too roughed up. Ideally you want to keep a new car new and do this every year or two and it'll really prolong the leather life

PPF is definitely hard to learn. I hear stories often of someone taking a class and a few months later give up and use contractors. If you survive learning and getting proficient then you need to desire to struggle more and get into more advanced techniques and raise your standards for installs. PPF is very mental. It will beat you up. If you reach this point you can go for the 1% install crazy advanced techniques and having a process so perfect that you virtually never redo panels. Most quite before the last two levels because they properly lost there mind and couldn't stand losing any more money. If you make it past the first hurtle and almost quit and have no desire to learn more because you hardly got here. then that's the shop that usually doesn't charge much and doesn't do great work. Light pressure fast passes on seats that get used. Reapply gtechniq leather guard every 6 months if it's a big problem. It's fast and easy to install

• Man I wish I could autopilot behind a polisher but normally I’m a nervous wreck 😂 The way you describe it reminds me of that Zen and the Art of Archery book big time. I would say I get zen-mode doing interiors. Throw a headlamp on and next time I look at my watch it’s 1:30am but fully energized. Moments like that is why I chase this stuff. That RS5 is sick, excellent choice 💪

@levelbest6142@levelbest61423 ай бұрын
• Thanks! I think that Zen mode feeling happens when you're doing almost anything that you know you're extremely confident in your skill set and that there's virtually nothing you won't be able to handle. And you've just done that so many times that your brain kind of recognizes what's happening before it happens and you can just do everything very efficiently. I most certainly cannot do that with PPF yet. When I'm doing PPF I'm very mentally tuned in to be like what in the world do I have to do to make this perfect. But when I do paint correction I really don't have to think that hard about it. So I totally understand your interior mindset. I think that just means you're very very good at doing interiors.

@STATUSDETAIL@STATUSDETAIL3 ай бұрын
• I just finished an 18 month project along the same lines. After work, weekends, I couldn't even guess at the number of hours but know it's well over 1000. What started with a valve cover gasket replacement led to the complete rebuild of the top end of the motor. Almost blueprinted. Everything OEM: Seals, gaskets, any rubber vacuum line replaced with silicone, new plugs, cable management, etc. New alternator, PS pump, radiator, water pump, all belts, rebuilt throttle body, and on and and on. Once the motor was done, I went to close the hood and noticed some leaves in the recess where the hood arms go. Turns out the windshield drains down the inside of the fender and that was basically full of mulch. That led me on a rust-prevention campaign, which eventually got me into the interior when I found the sunroof tray was leaking because the drain tubes were petrified with a kink in them, so completely blocked. Once on the interior I went about fixing all the things I knew needed fixing. All bulbs went to LED, sunroof drive belt replaced (and the drain tubes), new speakers, new wiring, added a Zapco small Class D monoblock just in case I wanted to run a sub later down the road. Even added a backup camera. I took the interior down to the paint. Seats out, disassembled, skins shampooed, etc. All plastic moldings taken out, scrubbed, cleaned. All carpet up, all butyl removed. Even took the dash out. Twice (FML). Dynamat the whole thing and rebuild. So the kicker is... this was all done on a 1990 4runner with 260k miles. The motor was actually a warranty replacement due to a manufacturing issue where the oil ports were too small and it starved the block with not enough circulation. A few of them just got leftover crate motors instead of a rebuild. So... a 260k 4runner with 80k on the motor. I'm the second owner. But I bought it off a high school friend of my parents. I was on the camping trip back in summer when he showed up with it for the first time and I remember thinking how cool it was. I think that, gaining mechanical experience with the vehicle, and a reason to not sit in front of the computer working all day played equal parts in the inspiration to keep at it. I don't regret the time spent, I'd do things a bit differently a second time. But if anyone asked me 'How much?' for a job like that, I would just laugh and sigh.

• Totally agree. And I definitely did a bunch of jobs that I didn't always want to do in the beginning I'm very fortunate now we're 99% of the work I do is the really high end stuff and it's what I'm most excited about and most passionate about in that typically means it's the best work because you're most excited to do it. It's always best to seek a service from a person who's excited to do the work versus just happy to make the money but doesn't want to clean all though nasty stuff out of the back seat of someone's kid car for example. In my opinion you just get a different caliber of work when it's like your passion project is also your work project in the customers just win big in this situations. I try not to put crazy timelines on myself either I book pretty reasonable amounts of time to do customer cars. The problem with my personal cars is I have unlimited time and then it's spirals out of control lol

The smell won't last to long unless you soak it and I don't recommend that. For legitimate fabric seats meaning not alcantara you can use something like tide diluted in water for maintenance too. This is also a great way to actually clean fabric. If you have a little stain or dirt on cloth seats. Just don't rub to much or you can begin to fray the fabric. Multiple light passes is better than a few hard passes

• Nice car. I just ordered a SQ8 in ASCARI blue! Great to see it in person. I had a McLaren 650s with a alcantera steering wheel. Never ever again. They are horrible. Within 12k miles it gets worn, matted down. I made sure that my Audi has their nice leather golf ball wheel

• Sweet! I'm planning on a SQ7 soon 😃 Yes the perforated golf ball style leather steering wheel is awesome. Grab a Gyeon leather brush from my store with gyeon leather cleaner. The divots in wheel will want to build up with dirt. The brush does a good toothbrush style effect to clean it out. Your going to love the color. It's very different In shade or cloudy day vs full sun. I love it !! Alcantara isn't terrible if you keep up with maintenance. But if you never clean or maintenance it then it will get matted and smashed and look pretty awful. Never have lotion or anything before you drive! Lol Leather is much easier to care for.

• Hi, very nice car, and wheels are just awesome. Can you give me the link you buy them? Or it's completely custom design?

• The wheels I have are totally custom two piece. The offset and diameter is milled to my car. Finishes all hand picked. If you reach out to Forge Light they can certainly recreate this for your car. If it's not a rs5 that's ok. They would spec it to your cars offset and diameter etc. You could even choose mononlock and change the finish if you like. Link to forge Light in my video description! They are fantastic to work with 👍👍

• I want to do a similar process with my RS3 seats, but since gyeon has alcohol in it and you use that for the final wipe isnt that a no-go?

• It's the perfect product to prep for ceramic. Especially after literally putting oil on the seats. You really want to make sure you get all the residue off. I wouldn't go cleaning my seats everyday or every week with anything that has alcohol in it. This particular process does benefit from it though

• Ah gotcha thanks, do you also have any recommendation for fixing a pilling alcantara steering wheel? @@STATUSDETAIL

• I miss going though this process on my dream toy. It’s so satisfying when it’s yours. The zen you’re talking about is called Flow State. When you’re proficient and passionate about a skill, you enter that flow state when you’re performing it.
