To celebrate David Seaman’s birthday we look back at one of his finest moments, a fantastic reaction save in the last minutes of the 2003 FA Cup semi-final from Sheffield United’s Paul Peschisolido.

Without doubt, the greatest save in the history of football. The angle, the body position, the reaction time, everything is just perfect. Will never be beaten.
DanTheStripe gordon banks?
@@reubenlusher3801 I agree. Bank's save against Pele was just freakish. But this Seaman save was absolute class too.
@@reubenlusher3801 this one is better, bank had the time to predict the shot direction and maybe started going on his right a little before the ball was hit, this save here is totally crazy
Davide Valentini time to predict the shot direction? The ball literally bounced right in front of him, making it even harder to save, he could’ve easily dived over it
I'm not an Association fan, never have been, but I remember watching this on the telly and dropping my jaw at the utter brilliance of this save.
Remember watching this when I was a kid and my heart sank as I thought it was going in - face beamed with pure amazement as Seaman pulled this off.
Same here came back from friends birthday party at the PlayStation when I was in year 2, saw this when I got home and was gobsmacked
+Pyropuncher Hey Pyro
I watched it live, was only about 8. The best save ever, it's always stuck with me.
Pyropuncher I'm sure peter schmicale was a pundit at this game and he said it was the best save he has ever seen.

One of the best saves in history if not the best
Gordon Banks v Pele world cup.
Seams' save beats it IMO
ChEtCSkES that wasn't actually that great of a save in my opinion
Ben Luke think about how heavy the ball was back then and the fact he managed to get it over the crossbar in the body shape he was in
Ben Luke are you fucking high?
Best save I have ever seen - and I'm a Sheffield United fan! 13 years later and I am STILL thinking, EH? How the hell did Seaman save THAT?!!!! Brilliant.
Why is it relevant that you’re a Sheffield United fan
@@cormacdonnelly5015 Maybe because it was Arsenal vs Sheffield United???
@@cormacdonnelly5015 *smacks face *
@@cormacdonnelly5015 Thanks for the laugh 🤣
@@ScottBlade1889 Pretty simple wasn't it? I mean if @Cormac Connelly couldn't get the fact that I was praising the team that denied my team a goal then he ought to take his 3 subscribers and leave town.
I'm a Spurs fan, but this has to be the best save of all time
im a tiger woods fans, but this has to be the best save of all time
ETHANthePANTHER I must point you in the direction of Jim Montgomery's save in the 1973 FA Cup final. It was the same as seaman's ( diving backwards) but David's was almost a slow motion save due to such a soft header. Montgomery's is truly amazing because as the ball drops at Lorimer feet he has an open goal. A split second later Montgomery has got up, dived backwards and by some miracle, from a pretty hard shot , has managed to lift the ball up almost vertically onto the underside of the bar. A truly breathtaking double save that is my best ever save. Let me know what you think and be honest :)
ETHANthePANTHER haven't you ever seen Jim Montgomery double save v Leeds in the 1973 FACUP final. Think again my friend. Seaman's is good but the header was pretty tame really
Tone's - 'Tones'. Replying to thin air, pal.
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ I'm a spurs fan to
It's as if he stopped the time momentarily to stop this shot
Welcome to the jungle Baby!!!!!
Even after almost 20 years after seeing this live on TV, I can remember this save like it was yesterday, incredible.
The best save ever. I've just watched it for no particular reason 17 years after it happened.
me to!
That man is a national hero and a football legend . He should have a statue of himself at the emerates stadium.
Without doubt, the greatest save i've ever seen in my life. Last minute to add to it. Cant imagine how the Blades fans felt. Seaman at 40 years old. A genuine world class save.
Probably the best save of all time
Simply a world class save
World class. There's no other word for it. Happy Seaman got to have this moment after the 2002 world cup.
ya, after his naivety led to ronaldinho's goal against england in that world cup, lucky seaman got to redeem himself with this.
Best save I've ever seen
I remember Peter Schmeichel was a pundit in the studio that day and even he said that was the best save he’d ever seen! Schmeichel said Seaman was off balance going the other way
Schmeichel himself once pulled off Gordon Banks type save.
@@paulharries9558 vs Rapid Vienna. I remember it well
I recall him saying how happy he was for him
whos here after watching sportbible
The muscle strength and agility to pull this off is out of this world, not only reactions but pure trained talent and confidence, fantastic
Who’s here from the fozcast?
I thought the save from Gordon Banks vs Brazil was the best of all time...until I saw this. BEST. SAVE. EVER. Absolute legend.
Gordon Bank's is the best England international goalkeeper, David Seaman is the best league goalkeeper
Banks' save is so overrated imo
@@qaskas No it's definitely not. The ground he had to cover to the other side of the goal and the reactions along with the perception to see future in that split second was phenomenal. To tip it away like that was unbelievable, there aren't many goalkeepers in the world that have played professional football could do that, let alone at a world cup against arguably one of the best International teams we've seen. Pele claiming he thought it was a goal to Banks afterwards, and saying it was one of the most sensational saves he's ever seen is spot on.
rene higuitas scorpion kick against england :)
This gives me goosebumps! It's almost as if time paused for a few milliseconds, just enough for Seaman to retraced his mis-step and pull the ball away from goal with one palm.
The greatest save of all time. Almost brings a tear to my eye.
20 years exactly, yesterday. Still one of the best saves I could think of.
Incredible save. The ball was already behind his body. The amount of agility that must of taken is astonishing.
Brilliant save and he has many more highlights too. Seaman is easily one of the best English keepers we've seen
Best save of all time. I was watching at home, rooting for the underdog, and I was already celebrating the goal inside when miraculously, almost in slow motion, Seaman somehow kept it out. Incredible. One of those saves that stays with you for the rest of your life.
we love you seamen from arsenal fan in Tanzania
17 years on... 1 of the bests stops of all time!!
I met Paul today at work. Needless to say I was in disbelief when I realized who I was speaking to. Such a fantastic person. Almost as fantastic as this save is.
It’s not even close that this is the greatest save ever in football. Unbelievable save.
What a save that is
Anyone here from Ben?
Who is here watching Seaman's save after Ramsdale's super save at Leicester? 😀
Seaman great at close quarters. 50 yards out was another matter.
Magic save no doubt he is one of the greatest
What everyone missed in all of this is the blatant handball by Peschisolido right after the save
Never touched it
@@walker3551 Oh I think you'll find he did
@@ForestKicks know what!!! He did actually😂

Best save the world has ever seen
Best save ever in my lifetime. A brilliant keeper and a really nice person.
The commentators sent me back to see this beauty
Best save ever in my opinion
The last worldclass keeper that England has had. Joe Hart is a calamity.
See him last night?

Just saying between, Pickford is the new saviour, Seaman was pure class and pickford is showing some grade A Class.
Pickford is good

one of the best save ever with Gordon Banks vs Brazil.
Gordon Banks and David Seaman made the two best saves. Ever. No debate.
As being a Manc Supporter,it was the best Save i ever saw, credit due to David Seaman, best England goal keeper !
Gordon Banks was great too and so was Peter Shilton too many good English keepers

One of the greatest stops ever. And this was when Seaman was finished!
As a Spurs fan I have to give credit where its due, amazing save.
Every time I watch this I'm in awe. It wasn't just that he stopped the ball's momentum, he actually managed to claw it out and away from Peschisolido, even though the ball had already gone past him. Phenomenal save, the best I've ever seen a Goalkeeper make.
One of the best saves I ever seen
Spurs fan here and I can say easily, that this is the greatest save of all-time.
20 years ago today 😦 wow!
greatest save that i have seen in my 58 years, all haile david seaman
Part 2 add David Seaman vs Sheffield Utd in fa cup. Best save ive ever seen live
He was 39 when he made this too 💥💥
Best save I ever seen remember watching it could not believe it
Absolutely incredible save
RESPECT to the legend!❤🇳🇦🇳🇦🇳🇦
I remember this season very well. Arsenal had goalkeeper issues at the time. Manninger was gone, Wright was gone and Stuart Taylor was plain useless. Seaman was still our best choice despite being too old and way past his prime.. This save proved that he still had it. We did not sign him for another season but we will never forget him! True Arsenal legend indeed
right up there with the greatest saves of all time. And he was about 38 at the time too
Best save in history
Once in a lifetime save. What an iconic moment i wish i could watch it live
Actually the best save I’ve ever seen
Best save ever
What a great player!
I remember hear this save being described on Radio 5 Live. Sounded great and all but when I saw it on tv later it was amazing. Top keeper.
Seaman got slagged off all that last season of his career. Nice to see him go out with that save
Everytime I watch this I think, this time it goes in!!
Incredible
Brilliant! What a save 😅
Mystical, truly
For me the best save from a goalkeeper of all time, when ever I see or hear someone mention that someone has made the save of the season I always compare it to this but never does 👍🏻
It is unique and unbelievable

Τεράστια επέμβαση !!!
The greatness of that save would've been completely been undone if Jagielka had scored that really simple follow up.
Joseph Marsh then we'd all be talking about Peschisolido's handball instead.
Wingin’ It! Paul Lucas To be honest if Jagielka hit on target i’d have my money on it being blocked. i mean can you imagine if seaman made another save?
Can’t believe he made this incredible save while he was 40 year old 😮

IDGAF best save of all time, look at where Seamans feet are placed. He's practically had to use every inch of those arm and then to hook it clear.

Yes exactly, look where his feet are. Flat on the ground! People talking about the best save ever are ignoring that he didn't jump, dive or leave the floor. Most overrated save of all time. Seaman was a great keeper and made some fantastic saves. This isn't one of them.
One of the best save.
What a team Arsenal were back then. Quality all over the pitch. No Sheikh involved either.
Beat save I have ever seen
Unreal
With the sad death of Sheffield's own Gordon Banks today, I was obviously looking at his great saves. And this reminded me of this one, that I witnessed first hand (no pun). Couldn't believe it at the time, (and great thing about youtube, is I can watch rest of my fellow fans think the same behind the net!) - I was on the tier above. This is the best save I've ever seen live in my lifetime. Watching it again, I still can't believe it! I'd put this in the top few I've ever seen live or on replays. Guess what we talked about on the train home! RIP Gordon Banks, some great stories on BBC Sheffield tonight.
What a save!!! 🤯🤯
incredible
This has to be one of the greatest saves ever. That was a certain goal for Paul Peschisolido and Sheffield United if it wasn't for goalkeeper David Seaman pulling out this brilliant save. SHEFFIELD UNITED FC THE BLADES
There’s magic in them hands
I can kind of appreciate the idea that you can stop the ball with your fingerprints, but how does he manage to move it from there to his outer joints in order to clear it? That’s some physics- and anatomy-defying wizardry going down
Seaman Seaman Seaman!
Amazing! I remember having half my months wages on Arsenal to win that and watching this live. Great memories
Brave of you to take the risk of losing £40.
Best save in the history of football.

What a keeper Seaman was! And Arsenal have certainly missed someone of that calibre since.
