In this video, Mark Pilkington of Skywagons.com discusses the main components that make the Mooney M20J (201 MSE) different from previous Mooney model aircraft. It is not all encompassing.

This is a great representation of Mooney's! I just recently purchased a Mooney M20J and absolutely love it! I started a KZhead channel where I use my plane to repossess vehicles cross-country.
Best of luck!
How do you get the vehicles in the plane? 🤪
@@donaldbishop923 haha, I fly with a passenger. Drop them off and they drive it back! 😎
Always precise and to the point info, I was looking for specs on an M20J after a trip to Kerrville! Btw, are you on some remote road, looks like the TX hill country. Love your videos, keep em comin!
Thanks. I do not like waffle. Keep it to the point. That is Northern California and it's the airport access road to the back lot of hangars that has not been built yet. Nice backdrop.
@@skywagonuniversity5023 super, thanks for the reply, my son loves the M20J.
These were Very popular in Australia in the 70s n 80s. Very capable , fast , 4 n baggage n economical. Basically same engine as in many arrows , cardinals , the p68s , seneca 1s etc
They should be very popular now too. Excellent planes, still doing the same job.
F and G Mooney's had the full length rudder as well, it was the short body mooneys that had the short rudder.
Only the early short body Mooneys have the short rudder. Later C's an d E's have the full length rudder. This video was about the J model.
Does that tail design make any diff in drag because of its unique design? Always wondered...
The vertical and horizontal surfaces having their leading edges at 90 degrees to the direction of flight gives the surfaces max efficiency. The "leaning forward tail" is supposed to reach into the stall sooner and make recovery easier.
Didn't I see that you guys had a baby blue M20F model for sale? How about a video on that one?
It's just another C model though.
@@skywagonuniversity5023 true, but I am sure it may also help you sell it.
What is the difference between M20J and M20K?
The J and K are the same everywhere except the engine. The J (201) has a 200 HP Injected four cylinder Lycoming with a 2000 hour TBO ( and it gets there) while the K (231) has a six cylinder 210 HP injected, Turbo-charged Continental with a 1800 hour TBO (and it does not get there) Basically the 231 is a turbocharged 201.
This plane looks familiar.
I think its actually 89 gallons.
Thank you but if you mean the fuel capacity of a Mooney M20J "201" it is 65 gallons.
@@skywagonuniversity5023 Depending on your source, 66.5 gallons or 64 gallons. I always plan for 64 gallons. Not 89 gallons.
