The saga continues as award-winning filmmaker Denis Villeneuve embarks on “Dune: Part Two,” the next chapter of Frank Herbert’s celebrated novel Dune, with an expanded all-star international ensemble cast. The film, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s six-time Academy Award-winning “Dune.”
The big-screen epic continues the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed bestseller Dune with returning and new stars, including Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet (“Wonka,” “Call Me by Your Name”), Zendaya (“Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Malcolm & Marie,” “Euphoria”), Rebecca Ferguson (“Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning”), Oscar nominee Josh Brolin (“Avengers: End Game,” “Milk”), Oscar nominee Austin Butler (“Elvis,” “Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood”), Oscar nominee Florence Pugh (“Black Widow,” “Little Women”), Dave Bautista (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “Thor: Love and Thunder”), Oscar winner Christopher Walken (“The Deer Hunter,” “Hairspray”), Léa Seydoux (the “James Bond” franchise and “Crimes of the Future”), Souheila Yacoub (“The Braves,” “Climax”), with Stellan Skarsgård (the “Mamma Mia!” films, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”), with Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling (“45 Years,” “Assassin’s Creed”), and Oscar winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men,” “Being the Ricardos”).
“Dune: Part Two” will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a path of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.
Villeneuve directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts based on Herbert’s novel. The film is produced by Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Villeneuve, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick. The executive producers are Joshua Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, with Kevin J. Anderson serving as creative consultant.
Villeneuve is again collaborating with his “Dune” creatives: Oscar-winning director of photography Greig Fraser; Oscar-winning production designer Patrice Vermette; Oscar-winning editor Joe Walker; Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert; Oscar-nominated costume designer Jacqueline West. Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer is again on hand to create the score.
Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures Present A Legendary Pictures Production, A Film By Denis Villeneuve, “Dune: Part Two.” The film is slated for a March 1, 2024 release in theaters and IMAX nationwide and internationally beginning on 28 February 2024, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The quietness of the scene is perfection.
It was annoying how little silence existed in the Part 1, hope they change that.
@@seaque. Nah i disagree
4:50 He’s floating because of the inertia caused by the worm turning while moving forward with such speed. He would have died had he not found an anchor on the worm skin exposing its inner air intakes, which causes an irritation to avoid which the worm turns the side towards the exposed air. Incredible attention to detail.
Underrated comment.
I like the fact that the shots are dirty. Reminds me of LOTR trilogy. Movies nowadays are so clean and so "perfectly" made that it's hard to believe and immerse yourself to the character's world.
I hope it's not like LOTR. I think the second two LOTR movies were mostly never ending 'epic scale' fight scenes (and not very realistic ones). Dune part 1 was a lot deeper, focused on the atmosphere and the characters and the drama. A bit more mature.
@@----ic6pwHe was clearly talking about the cinematography and he’s right. Greg Frasier is akin to the late, great Andrew Leslie in that he dirties up the screen and makes it feel lived in through his lens choices, his blocking and framing of objects close by, and allowing the dynamic elements to interact with the lens, etc. It makes the film feel more like Lawrence of Arabia or Return of the King and less like your sterile and plastic looking typical major blockbuster these days. Also, no one in their right mind thinks that The Lord of the Rings is less mature than Dune or vice versa. Two amazing worlds (and two masterful adaptions) can exist alongside one another without hitting the other down.
@@----ic6pw Denis has already said this is more of an action movie than the introspective Dune 1.
Weirdly enough, it was Arthur C. Clarke who said he considered the original book to so unique to the genre of Sci Fi, that he could find nothing comparable to it save for Tolkien's LOTR. Tolkien, on the other hand, said he hated Dune.@@ManSeekingMeaning
@@CosmicWanderer042 Tolkien probably didn't like Dune because the meta-context of the story was very anti-Imperialism, it incorporated A LOT of Middle-Eastern Sikhism and Zen Buddhist spiritual concepts and ideas, and had elements about expanding and evolving human consciousness, which likely didn't sit right with Tolkien whom was very Catholic in his views.
I 43 now and started to cry like a baby during this. My father intrduced me to the world of Arrakis at the age of 12 and I've must have read the first book more than 30 times since then but my father died a year before the release of the first film and even though that film set it all up, this is the one we have all been waiting for and it hurts that my fathar aint around to experience this. Same.... sort of. I first saw the 1984 version when I was like 5. Fell in love with it. Didn't know my dad for my formative years. Finally reconnected, and he was all about the novels. We bonded over that. Then the 2021 version came out, and he hated it. Them's the breaks I guess, lol
@@konradk1066Ouch! I loved it, loved the original movie as well but have still never read the books. I've found that reading the books ruins most movies cause the movies just can't do justice. I thought those movies did justice to the books but usually I can't do it, if I read the book first I generally don't like the movie.

There's definitely music in this. It's just subtle and contributes to the mood
I heard it, but it doesn't sound like music; it's more like environmental sound effects. There's no music from 0:34 until around 4:40. That's a long duration for a film.

Part 1 was fantastic, this looks like it's raise the bar even higher. Starting to wish that he'd been given 3 movies so that part 1 could have been fleshed out further!
But in the book, the worm approaches on the surface and is like a cliff. Paul runs up, inserts both hooks, has to stand against the worm and pull on the hooks to open the segment and the worm rolls up bringing Paul up. In this... the worm goes below Paul and he kinda falls onto the back of the worm. Hokay Dennis. Watch the 1984 Dune, the worm hooking scene is mostly correct. This scene is REALLY cool. I absolutely love the sound design, the way plumes of sand pummel him and all you hear are bassy punches like you're listening from inside his head. It's strongly reminiscent of sounds you hear when you wipeout on a big wave, all you can head is the rumbling as you're tossed around like a ragdoll and the sound of your head being rattled.

Nothing like experiencing a big worm while releasing a worm of your own. 🪱 Poetic.
Just heard New Yorker film reviewer Justin Chiang's reductive review of Dune Part Two, where he casually gives a spoiler filled synopsis of the entire movie. Ultimately claiming that Villeneuve's direction lacks depth, and ends up insinuating that David Lynch's version is better. What an unbelievably inept review. I've seen the film twice now, will see it a third time this weekend, and as a 58 year old film fan, I can honestly say that Villeneuve has pulled off a masterpiece. A film that beautifully compliments the novel, with characters that feel perfectly cast. I haven't felt this satisfied with a film in many years.
