She joined ISIS. Now she is trapped in Syria.

Hoda Muthana was 20 when she left America to join ISIS - a terrorist organisation.
Along with thousands of other women and children with suspected links to the group, she’s currently being held in a prison camp in north east Syria after ISIS lost the war for the country.
Hoda claims she was trafficked and groomed online to join ISIS in 2014.
Her critics say she should never have joined an organisation that murders people.
The American government has disputed she ever was a US citizen and has said she’ll never be allowed back in the country.
In her first full interview since she lost her appeal to return home, Hoda explains why she joined the group, what life was like when she first arrived and what should happen to her now.
In the same camp is Shamima Begum from England - the two seem good friends. Shamima also joined ISIS and also says she has now reformed.
Shamima is taking legal action to try and return to the UK.

  • Don’t mistake her self pity for remorse. She feels sorry for herself because of her current situation. Didn’t see any remorse. Once these people become radicalized in our communities before they went to Syria the had to blend in it teaches them to lie constantly. Don’t believe a word of it she’s a professional liar.

    @boranbkk4270@boranbkk42707 ай бұрын
    • It is important to differentiate between self-pity and remorse. Self-pity is a feeling of sorrow or pity for oneself, often due to personal hardships or difficult circumstances. Remorse, on the other hand, is a deep regret or guilt for one's actions or behavior. In this case, the individual in question may be expressing self-pity for her current situation, but that does not necessarily imply that she feels genuine remorse for her actions. It is possible that she is more focused on her own suffering and hardship rather than reflecting on the harm she may have caused. Furthermore, the individual's background of radicalization and deception suggests that she may be skilled at manipulating others through lies and deceit. It is important to approach her statements with caution and skepticism, as there is a possibility that she is using her self-pity as a facade to mask her true intentions. Ultimately, it is crucial to critically evaluate the sincerity and motives of individuals who have a history of manipulation and radicalization, and to prioritize the safety and well-being of the community.

    • @@zimcanit6647 respected brother/sister, one must understand context and explanation before cherry picking verses of the Holy Quran. This chapter was revealed from God Almighty for the expedition of Tabuk due to the imminent threat of Byzantine forces who were plotting to invade Medina and kill the Muslims. It is by no means a permission for any Joe Bloggs to pick up arms against non Muslims, and many other Quranic verses and peace, loving and tolerant actions of our Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him attest to that. Islam is a merciful religion but by no means pacifistic. On a spiritual understanding our Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned the greatest jihad is the battle against ones own lower self/ego/bad desires/nafs. This spiritual understanding is to battle with ones owns bad qualities to reach a state of spiritual purification. God Almighty says in the Quran that some verses have clear literal meaning and some metaphorical, in fact all of have both aspects, so we should avoid taking things at face value. This is the main problem with groups like Isis is that they don’t understand this and bypass the tradition of illumined scholars and Saints of Islamic history, making up their understanding and rulings from whatever Satan puts in their heads. Hope this helps

Many of them were forcibly displaced from their homes and communities, leaving behind everything they knew and loved. Despite their wishes to return home and be reunited with their families, their lives were tragically cut short by the senseless brutality of ISIS. These individuals deserved the opportunity to rebuild their lives and reclaim their rightful place in their communities. It sounds like most users here don't want to put themselves in her shoes, understandable emotional reaction but not that rational. It's a deliberate and dangerous choice that puts countless lives at risk. It's important to be cautious and skeptical of people who claim to be victims when their actions show otherwise. Ultimately, it's important to prioritize the safety and well-being of ourselves and those around us.

Under U.S. law, children born in the United States whose parents are diplomats are not eligible for U.S. citizenship. So she was not stripped of her U.S. citizenship, the reality is that under U.S. law, she was never a citizen. Any U.S. passport issued to her was done so by mistake, and the courts have upheld U.S. law on the matter. The only place she can go is to Yemen, where she does have citizenship via her parents. However Yemen has vowed to execute any of its citizens who have affiliated with ISIS. It is a tough situation to be in, but at the same time, it is hard to have much sympathy for her.
