In the summer of 2016, videographer Johannes Schlörb of fünfkommasechs and his friends were invited to experience the Mercedes-Benz G-Class on its original trial route near Graz, Austria. Erwin Wonisch himself, the legendary head of the G-Class testing team, took them on a journey up the Schöckl Mountain and down memory lane.   • My mom's Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon G63 is mettalic black, with the chrome in matte black. I love it! Its such an amazing vehicle. PS: Its my dream to have my own Red Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon G550 4x4.

  • As an owner of a AMG G63, I sure hope you tested over more difficult terrain. Any 4x4 could drive this road. Maybe most of your sustainers don’t do extreme off roading, but we are paying a price tag as if we will. I hope my G Wagen delivers.

    • Hi Greg, it's good to know that you're a member of the big G-Class family. We can guarantee that this terrain (maybe not only the parts you can see here) have tested the G-Wagon to the maximum and helped our engineers and designers do their best in terms of fine-tuning the vehicle for off-road purposes.     • @@MercedesBenz Thank you for the response, and I’m very happy to be part of the G family. I have watched the other video and it’s very good. I do think the G wagon-especially now with IFS- isa letdown in terms of suspension articulation. I’m hopeful it is as durable as my previous 200 Series Land Cruiser.

  • Diese Karre ist nichts für harte Kerle. Geschweige denn für extremstes Gelände. Ein Auto für Weichlinge mit weißen Handschuhen das trifft es wohl ehr. Ich konnte in noch keinen Video sehen, so auch nicht in diesen, wo mich dessen vermeintliche Leistungen und Fähigkeiten überzeugt hätten mir diese Karre zu kaufen. Das Gelände im oberen Video, wie auch all die Videos zuvor, sind ein Witz. Omas Kleingarten ist da treffend. Eins weiß ich, mit einem Benz würde ich mich auf kein Abenteuer einlassen. Da gibt es weiß Gott, bessere Kaliber. Und zu dem auch günstiger. Die Rede ist von einem Jeep der diesen Namen zurecht trägt. Der treibt sich in Gegenden rum, in die sich kein G Model wagt. Für mich gibt es keinen besseren als den Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Schon in seiner konstruktiven Bauweise, seinen Individuell vielseitigen und personalisierbaren Möglichkeiten kommt die G Klasse nicht ran.

    • Wozu braucht man zB: ein in weißes Leder bezogenes Amaturenbrett, ebenso weiße Ledersitze, Wurzelholz oder sonstig überteuerter Schnickschnack in einem Jeep. Mit jeden Schnickschnack den er mehr hat ist er in der Praxis um so unbrauchbarer und teurer. Der wahre Nutzen eines echten Jeeps liegt zB: darin , außerhalb der Karosse verbaute Radläufe zu haben, welche einer enormen Achsverschränkung zu Gute kommt, oder die Möglichkeit überdimensional größerer Bereifung verbauen zu können, oder schnell ab und an montierbare Kotflügel um in extrem steilen felsigen Gebirgsmassiv Vorder und Hinterräder im Auge zu behalten. Das und noch vieles mehr macht einen echten wahren Jeep aus.

    • Die G Klasse kann all das was dein Jeep auch kann. Nur leider hat dein Jeep kein Prestige. Ich kenne den Wagen sehr gut. Meine Mutter fährt einen Jeep Wrangler Sahara, was ne billige Schüssel! Plastik überall, so eine günstige amerikanische Verarbeitung! Muss man mögen, oder viel mehr sich damit abfinden wenn man nicht aus der Tasche kommen kann um sich das G Modell zu leisten. Ich sage dir, keine Sau interessiert sich für einen scheiß Jeep. Also ich meine für den Fahrer und das Auto. Bei G Klasse ist das anders.

  • Dieses Geschleime um diese Karre, das ist nicht zum aushalten ! Die glauben doch tatsächlich die fahren was besonderes. Wenn ich die Absicht hätte ins Gelände zu fahren und die Wahl zwischen einem G Benz und einem Jeep Wrangler Rubicon würde ich letzteren nehmen. Dem würde ich mehr anvertrauen als dem G. Die Karre wirkt äußerlich schon langweilig, so trostlos. Extrem Umbau, Anbau,rein gar nichts. Weder Personalisierung noch sonst etwas läßt sich damit anfangen. Der ist halt einfach nur ein langweiliger Anblick. Diese Offroad Strecken, jeder Rollstuhl kommt da durch.
