  • Thank you for uploading this Matt and Eric explains it in such a concise way that's easy to absorb, exactly what I'd been looking for. I naturally hit draws with my irons but I recently started experimenting with trying to hit fades as well which unfortunately turned out to be a few too many slices - watching this video has helped me discover that the problem was with both my swing path and right hand grip. Love the content you upload, please keep the good stuff coming :)

  • This Best lesson I’ve ever had. Been playing since 2005. Shot 79 using this. Missed some putts and I couldn’t pull off this draw move with my driver and 3wood. Thank you.

    @charlesarmstrong4371@charlesarmstrong43712 ай бұрын
    • Draw move will be insanely difficult with lower loft. I suggest draw move with the 6 iron as the lowest possible loft. Fade move works more and more with lower loft - anything from driver to 6 iron will move a lot. Shorter irons don't fade as much as they can draw. Drawing entails delofting so if you try with 10 degree driver, it will deloft the driver to negative degrees, probably top it or wormburner

      @GolfSidekick@GolfSidekick2 ай бұрын
    • @@GolfSidekick I believe you. Crazy thing I can draw the 6 and 5. But the 5 and 4 definitely produce worm burners. I’m gonna try to hit fades with the 4, 3 wood and driver tomorrow. Thanks.

  • The way my brain works and I can hit a draw/hook at will. I have to be aiming like said in this video, but my club face will also be square to the closed path and then I swing on that path (which will be inside) and I automatically without thinking close the club face at impact. I actually can hook it too much. Also a strong grip helps. The table tennis analogy is great too. I play(ed) a lot of table tennis in the past. EDIT: Ohhh, the fade I struggle with and the grip change might be the reason with the trail hand. NICE!!

  • I have always though of these shots as tennis moves. A draw is a forehand, and a fade is a cut shot... admittedly this makes me fight my hands a bit in the swing, but I find it easier to scale back from too much draw/fade than to initially learn how to do it.

  • You figured it out quickly, the draw results from the relationship between club head and the swing path. Pointing your feet right can be a helpful way to visualize the swing path, but isn't necessary, as you remarked. Find the grip that matches your personal biomechanics and use that grip for every shot.

  • Every time I go to the range, I purposely try to turn some each way. I think everyone should try this while practicing. That way you always know where center, or straight is. Most would be better off shaping most shots one way or another depending on the natural tendencies. The straight shot is the hardest. Be the cool golfer that can shape shots toward tough pins..

    • @@norcalchrismeister I'll tell you what I do. Tee up on the right and aim towards the left hand 150 marker in the rough. Move the ball back about 1 inch in the stance, then I weaken that left hand so the thumb is almost on top of the shaft. Then hit hard and it will turn. Range balls aren't the best things to practice with. Try it on the course with some rubbish you found in the rough then if all you get is a straight shot into the jungle on the left no harm done.
