Ever seen Steve Jobs MegaYacht "VENUS"? Now you can! We were out filming in Simpson Bay at St Maarten, Caribbean the other day and came across "VENUS" sitting proudly at anchor, just getting ready to head to sea! We filmed several yachts, including the 157ft SuperYacht "C2", owned by Ronald Perelman.. Billionaire investor and philanthropist with holdings in Revlon Group of womens cosmetics, and AM General which is the company known for the Hummer and Humvee utility vehicles.
At 82m in length, "VENUS" was the direct brain child of the late Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple for many years. Jointly designed with Philippe Starck, the yacht elegantly boasts pure simplicity in line with Steve Job's desire to design private, quiet places that provided the Zen like atmosphere that he preferred. Steve was once quoted as saying, "I've tried to be inspired by the Asian idea that emptiness is more important than fullness"... Hence the famous transparent chair he designed in 1998 called "The Marie" that he believed to be an "almost perfect object", just as his idea to bring "VENUS" to life as the Elegance of Minimal.
Unfortunately, Steve Jobs passed away before ever getting to see his final masterpiece come to life, but the family brought the project to completion and now "VENUS" roams the Earth in Steve's memory with a fixed crew of 22 onboard.
We hope you enjoy and find the video informative and entertaining, and be sure and let us know if you'd like to see more like this! :)

  • Awesome! I saw Venus at anchor at a cove north of La Paz, Mexico in May 2014 while I was getting my ASA 104 and 114 certifications. Beautiful yacht.

  • i actually have seen this boat in person, this was when i lived in Barcelona, i was walking with my family and from behind it looked like a square and we were making fun of it, until we walked next to it, realizing how big it was, and admiring it for how good the rest of the boat was. When we got home we typed in the name of the boat and found out that it was Steve jobs' boat. We didn't realized we were laughing at 100 million dollar boat. I regret taking no pictures, even though at the time i didn't have a phone.

Another beautiful Super Yacht. You are very fortunate to spend your days in a place filled with such beautiful examples of maritime design. Take Care.

    • It's a mixed bag, the grass is always greener on the other side. If you're really lucky and get on with an amazing owner, then it's probably one of the best jobs in the world, especially if the sea is your passion. But those jobs are few and far between. Quite a lot more people get mediocre or awful owners, don't get much vacation time, work 18 hour days, and are on call 24/7/365 waiting for someone else's beck and call and putting their own lives and families and friends on the back burner all the time. It's definitely not for everyone. And the good jobs are very hard to get because the owners are really selective, and the people who have those jobs don't often leave them.

  • Being one of the crew on Steve Jobs yacht has to be a dream job for those people. I would think there isn't a lot of job security when you work on a yacht because your at the mercy of the owners whim, he may just get board with his yacht or a hundred other reasons they may not have a need for what you do. In the case of the venus there's no reason that yacht can't sail the seas for 20 or 30 years with the same crew, if the goal is to just sail around in Steve's memory. I'm curious as hell how that actually works. By the way I think it looks OK, kind of like a mansion you'd see in a desert climate with walls of windows.

    • ***** That makes sense, I guess I'm naive to think they would do what they said they would when large amounts of money are involved. A while back a wealthy man left his house that was over 200 years old, and all his money to the historical society so they could maintain it. The historical society decided there were other more significant houses they wanted to use the money for. They sold the house, the new owners remodelled the hell out of it built some huge stables, and now it's a business that boards horses. That guy must be spinning in his grave.

    • +John Fisher I'm like you I can't imagine working at the same place for years on end, but there are a lot of people that would like the job security. My father worked in the same factory for 35 years, he thought I was crazy when I quit one of my first jobs after two years because I was board with it, especially since I was making more than him. There's probably more people that would stick with the same job than people that have enough confidence to leave a steady job for the unknown. I've always advised people to think as every job as a stepping stone to a better job, you should always be trying to better yourself, there's no reason to settle.

      @bigredc222@bigredc2228 жыл бұрын
    • +C Smith: You're right there is no job security except what you make for your self by your job performance. It's kinda nice when a person does not keep a job because he has a union card in his/her pocket. When a really good job performance and individual initiative create job security that's the best way.
