Installing down lights couldn't get any easier with these pop in LED lights. They even have a fun night light option to some mood lighting. No more having to mess with large and expensive can lights that require tearing off your entire ceiling. In this video I show you guys how to run all your wiring from underneath, and no attic space is needed. All the wiring is run in the ceiling joist cavity so you can just pop these LED down lights in.

  • You’re one of the few guys on KZhead who actually know how to use and install wire it’s correctly. The electrical tape added is just a bonus but can never hurt. Good job!

  • Use some link of plastic bowl big enough ..cut a hole in bottom of bowl big enough to run your drill bit through..have the circle drywal cutter inside the bowl and run the drill bit into the drill on outside of bowl ..that way the bowl will catch anything falling from ceiling while your clean holding the drill

  • Nice seeing a Chicago area video on this. Wish there was more due to the requirement of conduit. Tons of videos on stuff but nothing helps with us in this area. Great explanation. You can use a long 4ft flexible bit to avoid the additional drywall work.

  • I'm a little confused, in minute 11:10 of the video you connected the hot wire with ground wire, WHY? How is that possible? When researching about connecting a hot wire with a ground wire it's not recommended as it can trip the braker or blow up a fuse.

  • You had me up until the moment you used a BX (NM) connector on MC. That is NOT the correct connector to use for MC cable. I'll give you credit for at least using a Red - head (anti short bushing).

  • You gotta fasten those boxes to a joist or blocking in the attic. They come with little holes at the bottom. NEC 314.23(A) "Boxes, conduit bodies, and fittings shall be securely fastened in place." That is pretty explicit code.

    @amitjparikh@amitjparikh3 ай бұрын
    • Well, it’s a ridiculous code because if you have ever want to change the settings or replace, you’re more than likely screwed when your hole is only 4”. Some codes are written by guys who rent condos to live in.

  • Looks very DYI! The old fashioned fixtures as you call them are superior as the end user can replace the lamp (bulb) as they do actually fail over time and as LED technology improves, just unscrew the obsolete lamp with tomorrows tech. Also, you don't need a galaxy of recessed lights in a room. You may be a competent electrician but you are obviously lacking on lighting design. The best way to go is mud-in trimless fixtures and really the best is recessed lighting troughs so that multiple lights can be aimed correctly.

  • the problem is literally all of these "easy can lights!" videos dont have insulation on the ceiling drywall. My ceiling has a foot high layer of insulation blown right on the ceiling drywall, it's going to fall out all over the place as soon as I drill a hole in the ceiling, as well as make moving wires etc difficult to impossible. Stop making fake videos youtube, nobodies house is like this where everything is just easy and perfect

    @cryengine_x@cryengine_x4 ай бұрын
    • Why would you say this is a fake video? Have you considered that his house is different construction than yours? While I also have blown in insulation, it is cause I live in a ranch single level house. He probably doesn’t have insulation cause there is a second story to his house where it is not common to insulate between first and second floor.

  • I hate led lights. They hurt my eyes bad. Over time they blink randomly. I have health issues that are caused by led lights. So I personally prefer just a regular porcelain lamp socket and light bulb. Incandescent Light bulbs are better than led for me because they don’t they don’t blind me, they last longer than led. ( I lived in an apartment that had the led pieces of garbage installed and in the span of 6 months all led bulbs were replaced at least 2 or 3 times due to the random blinking of diodes failing. If that’s all the longer led lights last. They ain’t worth the money or time. I also bought a house that had the same recessed led garbage in this video installed and within a week I removed them and replaced them with a traditional porcelain light sockets) what a difference incandescent bulbs are superior to these LED bulbs. What people won’t tell you about these LED junk is it’s OK if you don’t have sensitive eyes however, if you have any health issues at all with your eyes, or you have very sensitive eyes like I do and you got the ding bat federal government that wants to ban incandescent bulbs because they take too much energy. You’re absolutely screwed. I guess I will run incandescent bulbs until I run out and can’t get anymore and then I will switch over to kerosene lanterns. Btw your a very talented electrician and good job with the install.

    • If we’re going to use single anecdotes as representative of all, then ok. I replaced the incandescent can lights in my house with LED 6 years ago (over 20 fixtures), and not a single one of them has failed. More practically, for anyone thinking of going back to incandescent, if you’re replacing LED that are IC rated with incandescents that aren’t, you very well could burn your house down if they come into prolonged contact with insulation in the attic.

      @scottcray6309@scottcray63093 ай бұрын
    • @@scottcray6309 well my experience with led isn’t good. Like I have stated above, they do nothing but blink over time they fail constantly. They hurt my eyes and I’m not the only one that has an extreme light sensitivity to LED lights. The federal government doesn’t understand that some people cannot be around LED lights, nor do some people do not understand that. I cannot be around LED lights in my house. I have removed every single LED light and replaced them with incandescent bulbs. And my night vision is back when I close my eyes, I do not see bright white spots in my eyes anymore. If they work for you great but they have never worked for me and they are extremely expensive over incandescent bulbs. And if LEDs only last a very short amount of time and then start blinking randomly, forcing you to replace them you just won’t go back to incandescent bulbs at least they last longer. And anyways I am an electrician and I have not just pulled the LED bulbs out and put regular bulbs back in them. I have pulled the whole fixture out and installed a normal fixture. Incandescent bulbs have worked for over 100 years there is no reason to change something that isn’t broken. Sadly, this is something our federal government and this modern younger generation does not understand. They think they have to change something and make it better when all they do is make things worse.
