  • In 2011, people really don't really realise how great Eli was. In 2011 he passed for 4,933 yards, led the league with 4Q comebacks, and game-winning drives, with one of the worst defences that year, 25th in points allowed and 27th in yards allowed. He had a record-breaking year, and with all those problems, he somehow led his team to the Lombardi trophy!

His career outside of his championships is probably going to look underwhelming compared to some Hall of Fame quarterbacks but he has a good career, and an excellent 2011. That said, if the team is said to be carried by a player or two, then it must’ve been pretty middling in its other components.

They outscored San Francisco & Washington by a score of 66-3. I repeat 66-3. They shut down and blew out the 49ers and shut out The Redskins. Then then held John Elway to 20 points. • As a Giants fan I have to agree with our 2011 team being the worst Super Bowl champions, our defense was terrible (although they did admittedly play much better in the postseason) and we had the worst rushing attack in the NFL. Eli and our receivers did a good deal of the heavy lifting that season and the team got hot at the right time, although we were certainly lucky we avoided having to go to the Super Dome and play the Saints (a team who’d demolished us in the regular season) in the NFCCG. The 2007 team being ranked second to last is a bit more contentious though. Yes, they were only 10-6, Eli’s quarterbacking was pretty hot and cold until the playoffs, and we frankly got a number of lucky bounces, but the team was also just very well-rounded. We had a great offensive line plus both a 1,000 yard receiver and running back, with a top five rushing attack to boot. The defense was ranked middle of the pack in terms of points per game and per drive, but we also had a terrific front seven which led the league in sacks including two double digit sackers (Tuck and Osi) plus the veteran Strahan. Plus, maybe some homerism but I just feel knocking off the only undefeated team in the 16 game era is a pretty big added boost. I personally would’ve put them over the 2012 Ravens, 1980 Raiders, 1970 Colts, 2015 Broncos, and 2001 Patriots, but again likely some homerism there.

    • Most of the people who are criticizing this guy's list are way off base. They're just picking teams that they liked when they were young. However, you I agree with. The Redskins ( they'll always be the Redskins to me. The Redskins or the Hogs. We didn't they change their name to the Hogs. The Hogs is a much better name than Commanders) that year was a dominant team, even among a long list of Super Bowl winners.

The 1976 Raiders lost only one game (NE) all year, avenged that loss in the playoffs, beat the crap out of the two-time defending champs in the AFCCG (PIT), and beat the crap out of the Vikings in the SB. At the very least, it'd be a close, tense, fun matchup between two all-time great teams.

  • Just curious about rating these teams. The NFL 100 was done in 2019, so it was Super Bowl champions from 1966-2018 (New England's last Super Bowl title,) along with other teams in history, dating back to the 1920's. While you can insert KC, Tampa Bay, and LA Rams, how is it, whenever these ratings are done, teams flop around? Example: NFL 100, #3 team is 1978 Steelers. But on this list, they are #4. The 1984 49ers were #4, yet they are #3 on this list. The lowest rated Super Bowl champion was the 2012 Ravens in the NFL 100, but now it's the 2011 Giants. Any explanation @NFL Throwback ?

  • The fact the 1970 Baltimore Colts team isn't last is mystifying. Superbowl 5 was an utter mess of a game and the players feel it was a token ring, forever haunted by losing Superbowl 3 to the Jets. Ranking teams by their regular season...are you kidding? Geez, by that metric the 2007 Patriots would be #1, we know how much you want to. These lists usually rock it but this one is a farce.

    • That Colt team was good. Players and fans at that super bowl against Dallas later said that that was the hardest-hitting game they'd ever been in/seen. That was the reason for a lot of the turnovers. Both teams were regarded as "losers", so they played their guts out in that game.

It was also a great story because Matthew Stafford finally won a Super Bowl at that point, he really deserved it in my opinion. Super Bowl 56 was one of the best Super Bowls as of recently in my opinion which is why I argue this.

  • Excellent work as always fellas'...but the '69 Chiefs were the 1st team to win the Super Bowl as a Wild Card (IV) beating the Minnesota Vikings....the Oakland Raiders were 12-1-1 & won the AFL Western Division & the Chiefs were 11-3. Look it up.

    @carlbenson6412@carlbenson64122 ай бұрын
    • CHIEFS of ‘69-70 were/are not officially considered a WILD CARD since they met the criteria for the pre-set finishing playoff spot qualification= get second in the division, get automatic playoff spot, with their record compared to no other non-division winner, only compared to the division champ in their own division. Wild Cards, first beginning in the first merger schedule season =1970-71, didn’t get in the playoffs unless they beat out all non-division-champs, finishing second in their division did NOT GUARANTEE a playoff spot. It still doesn’t. It did ensure a spot in the AFL only in 1969-70, the LOOP’s LAST SEASON, IF A TEAM FINISHED SECOND IN THEIR DIVISION.. yep.

      @robertsprouse9282@robertsprouse92822 ай бұрын
    • Disagree...they weren't called wild cards but Houston & Kansas City were the best 2nd place finishers thus the Jets & Raiders won their divisions...the term wasn't used yet. I believe Al Dsvis kept that myth going also...Kansas City the Raiders sworn enemy was the 1st wild card winner...the Elias bureau & everyone else needs to stop calling the '80 Raiders the 1st...Al Davis isn't around anymore.

      @carlbenson6412@carlbenson64122 ай бұрын
    • On that subject anyone can watch the old 'Inside the NFL' from the '80 playoffs & after the Super Bowl...as the '80 Raiders were marching to the Super Bowl the host Len Dawson (Chiefs) & Nick Buoniconti-AFL player from that era) if I'm not wrong said that the Chiefs were the 1st Wild Card to win the Super Bowl...somehow that's been revised somewhere down the line since '80...alternative facts are not facts folks.
