Dear friends and followers, welcome back to my channel and to a frequently asked question: “CAN PILOTS WEAR BEARDS ON DUTY?”
I have received this question numerous times and wanted to do this video to shed some light on whether or not it is acceptable to sport a beard (anything from moustache to full-grown lumberjack beard) whilst on duty.
Nowadays beards have become incredibly popular. Full facial beards which back in the day used to be associated with lumberjacks and Harley Davidson bikers as well as stylish moustaches are in today's world a new way to express your manhood and personal style. Countless different types and styles were reintroduced and a whole new industry has evolved around the facial hair a man can wear.
But the question arises, are pilots banned from this "fashionable accessory"? There were several news articles about this topic in the media in the last few years and even a court case in Singapore.
I will be answering this question with a touch of humour, ironically since I cannot really grow a beard myself and this question does not really apply to me… ;-) In any case, I will be looking at this from a passenger’s and a co-pilot’s perspective and will use a really cool “FEATURE” to physically demonstrate what an effect the various beard forms might have on the people around the pilot, or in this case you, the viewer. Wait until the end to get the full effect.
