This is what film means to me. The sublime moment in seeing what happens at the end of it all and seeing how it all makes sense. It's transcendent, but not in a spiritual sense. It speaks to us because it takes the common ordinary life we record in our minds, and it selects those memories in such a way as to fit a story we desire to be a part of. We crave meaning and craft our own imagined purpose. It's human instinct to do this. It makes it bearable to go on; why we need movies, life, art
It doesn't make it bearable, it makes it beautiful
This thing always get's me good. Even after all those years. GODSPEED YOU BLACK EMPEROR and this video are forever fused for me. Goosebumps to Go! Great stuff.
This montage is a masterpiece by itself!
Fantastic final shots AND Godspeed? Well played
As soon as This is England's final shot appears I expected to see also Les 400 coups (The 400 blows) one, which is the original reference and by far my favourite last shot in any film. Anyways is a great video, it can't contain every good last shot ever taken. Congrats.
I don't know very many of these but it doesn't matter. This is beautiful.
Thank you. That was great, loved the music as well
You forgot about "Her". The rooftop scene is just breathtaking. I hope you make another video like this
This is such a fantastic montage...there are tears! I just feel so humbled, thank you
The final shot of The 400 Blows is one of the most enigmatic and mesmerizing shots in movie history.
What a perfect song choice!!! Goodness tearssss as the music swells!!
Never mind; I see it now. Very moving; I'm glad Slate gave you a reference.
Wonderful collection of films here. And you used my favourite piece of music of all time. Perfect video.
Amazing, makes me almost cry, its a beautiful montage.
Loved the last clip of The Last Temptation of Christ. Great montage!
BRAVO! Will one of you chaps pour this man a glass of whiskey so he may celebrate his achievement like a good man? BRAVO!
I'm not sure how many times i've watched this since i came across it...a LOT...really great job on this. i saw GYBE! play this live in venice last year...i thought of this video.
Was not expecting THX: 1138.
Beautiful editing. I love this.
thank you for the flow.
Perfect
God! Your choice music couldn´t be more appropiate. So glad to hear the tremendous Godspeed You´s masterpiece album opening track to score your marvelous montage. As a film editor myself and also art-rock-head I don´t hesitate at all to say: I F*CKIN LOVE THIS!!! Thank you so much for this.
I love the last shot of Tron
Simply amazing!!!
Wonderful
The Dark Knight has a pretty good end shot.
Beautiful!!
Really liked it. Thanks!
Ended it with Kubrick... Can't go wrong with that
dilly_dally95 Ended it with Scorsese actually
beautiful. had already forgotten some of them, thnx!
Well done!
This is perfect
This is perfection!
Amazing bro
Love it
That... was amazing.
The movies used are in the description.
thank you
bravooooo, thanksssss
This is pretty stunning work.... I had thought about doing a movie list on the most memorable final images in film (I was thinking the Long Good Friday's shot of Bob Hoskins and the final image in the Godfather). I expected the Baby (see me avatar), but I thought he would be there at the beginning. Good choice for the end. And finally - I always get a lump in my throat at the last shot of Au Revoir Les Enfants... now I see, even out of context, this remains true. Awesome effort.
Awesome
Nice job!
great!!!
so. good!
Beautiful! But what about the final scene of Fight Club?
See, it was driving me bonkers that I couldn't figure them all out. Beautiful montage regardless.
Very nice...,
Movies on here I've seen so far: THX=1138, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Rocky, Tron: Legacy, Good Will Hunting, Tron, The Searchers, The Breakfast Club, Chariots of Fire, The Breakfast Club, The Right Stuff, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Superman, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Wow.
where is FIGHT CLUB?????
Also, I love this
Damn do you know what you're doing. Fantastic job as always. Great music choice. What would life be without movies and being able to step into another world and a directors vision?
Maybe its time for a second one!
Im still here..
Grat video! Big missed opportunity at 2:46 though, final shot from "Drive" (2011) who have fit beautifully. But like I said, awesome video!
Fixed, thanks!
Should've added memories of a murder's ending
so many opinions on how this should be - it is what it is
The last scene from MIDNIGHT COWBOY was extremely poignant.
Is there *some* way I can like this _more_ ?
The very last frames are Last Temptation of Christ?
I dunno - I rather like it this way, where you try to guess them...
What about the final shot of Gone With the Wind ?
I was expecting "The Elephant Man" towards the end there.
All it's missing is Fight Club and Life Of Brian
Can anyone tell me which Solaris was used?
I can't find the list of movies used. Where is that posted?
One suggestion: recommend putting the title of each film in the bottom corner.
Two-Lane Blacktop would have been a great way to end, but would have taken some thematic switching around.
anybody knows what the bgm is?
It was the remake (2002, dir. Steven Soderbergh)
What, no Long Good Friday?
No fight club ?
Old Boy 2:19 is missing in the list
No The Godfather, The Shining?
Well if the last thing I’m gonna see is Obi Wan Kenobi then I’m happy
Im missing The Machinist :(
2001 space baby break 4 wall . ?
no donnie darko :((
No Titanic? aww
It was so obvious the ending... best movie ever!
But fight club
2:54 anyone?
The Quiet Earth
Um, SPOILER ALERT
I think it would be better if you used the original soundtrack of the respective shots. But great job anyway.
Amazing bro
Fixed, thanks!
