I Made ''GOLD KATANA'' Weight 3.2 kg.

I carved this katana with a file and a sanding board.
This is the most difficult project in my life, which took a lot of time, effort, patience.
What can I say, I put my soul into this project.

  • Ah, this brought back some memories. A few tips I can remember from Patternmaking trade school: Instead of just dumping the sand in on top of the pattern, sieve a fine layer of your sand in first, then top it off and pack. You can make it easier to pour the metal by scooping out a funnel shape in the sand around the top of the tube that forms the infeed before removing it. Interesting to see you form that after the sand is placed. We used to place the (tapered) tube first and pack the sand around it. Traditionally pattern makers would have a metal rod with screw thread in one end, when the box is split, they'd screw this into the pattern at about the center of the pattern, and then wrap it gently in a few different directions with a hammer, so that the pattern would come out of the sand without getting the breakaway at the edges. If it was a high volume part, they'd install a metal plate with a hole for this purpose in the pattern to take the wear and tear. Our 'boxes' were made of metal, functionally the same, though I note that the grooves in your wooden box to help hold the sand are very small compared to what was in ours, from memory, and they were a little deeper. You'd also cover the entire area around the pattern with plumbago, so that the mold would lift off the base board easily, then closing off the mold box wasn't necessary, the sand would stay in place by itself, which makes it very easy to break the casting out later. The way they applied plumbago was from some kind of porous linen bag, tapping it by hand dusted a wide area at once.

Yes, it's true, this sword was made for 12 months. a lot of time was spent filming, preparing, bad moments, etc. most of the work was done behind the scenes. the filming process and work on the sword all together took 12 months. This is not a combat sword, this is a souvenir, a decorative element of the interior, for a connoisseur of beautiful exclusive pieces. • A beautiful piece of art. 👍👏👍 It’s hilarious to see so many ridiculous comments about the structural integrity of the blade when it is obvious that it is not a hardened steel forged blade but a replica katana for ornamental purpose, not combat.
