    • @@RadiantMantra I think you know. It's part of the overall experience to show as well as describe the actual drive, otherwise what is the point of his show? The POV puts the viewer in the seat. The channels devoted to that exist for a reason. It's fun. Especially in the more exotic cars from the past where the dash and shifting in action is often fascinating. Look at Jay Lenno's Garage. It's great because he shows the entire experience of the sometime weird and often wonderful as well as narrates it.

It didn't look futuristic like it was from a movie, it was just ugly until breaking bad happened then it became cool for that reason alone. You gotta stop with the "it has no soul" argument. These are trucks, what truck has a "soul"? When people say a car has soul, they mean it has personality. Specifically with powerful cars, their engine sound and characteristics, as well as the overall feel gives it soul.

  • Having owned two Teslas at this point, I can tell you that their pursuit to make everything as minimalist as possible and put it all on the screen is annoying. For one, we've actually had the screen go out three separate times. The screen just went black while we were driving and it was even a little scary. You can't see your speed, you can't control the windshield wipers if it's raining. Secondly, not everyone owns two Teslas. So when you make the driving experience too different from a standard vehicle, then you can actually make mistakes in the other vehicle forgetting you're not in the Tesla and vice versa. We have a Model 3 and a Prius. Every car we've had has the windshield wipers on the right steering wheel stock. However, Tesla put the single-wipe windshield button on the left stock and the parking break on the right stock. I've had a couple of occasions where I'm backing out of the garage while it's raining and I'll push the right stock to clear the windshield and it engages the parking break while you're rolling. There are other examples of this, but this is the one that comes to mind. Lastly, it's just annoying to have to press two buttons on a busy screen just to open the glove box, or fold the mirrors or turn on windshield wipers. It doesn't improve the driving experience at all. Actually the opposite. I think this is our last Tesla.

And you still need to look at the lower part of the screen to see which speed you chose, effectively taking your eyes off of the road.

  • And now, after finally having reviewed the Cybertruck, it's time to give Doug DeMuro a DougScore: 1. Starting with the weekend categories and styling, Doug looks fine, not beautiful, he gets a 5/10 2. Acceleration is slow, I'm not sure how fast Doug does 0-60, but it's definitely over 10 seconds, which gives him a 1/10 3. Handling is ok, not spotscar level though, Doug gets a 4/10 4. Fun factor is good. Doug is pretty fun, he gets a 7/10 5. Cool factor is high, there is only one Doug DeMuro in the world, though I don't think he turns many heads because many people simply don't know who he is. Still, it's enough to give him an 8/10 for an overall weekend score of 25/50 6. Next up are daily categories and features, Doug is reasonably well equipped but still lacks some modern tech. He gets a 7/10 7. Comfort is great and gets an 8/10 8. Quality is fine, but long term reliability might be an issue, he gets a 7/10 9. Practicality is normal for a guy like Doug, only two hands and no second row get him a 4/10 10. Finally, value, and this is a tough one. Doug is really cool, but also quite expensive. He gets a 5/10 for an overall daily score of 31/50 Added up and the DougScore is...56/100. I have not reviewed any Dougs yet, but this is a high score and I'm thrilled to have been able to spend a day with him!

    • Seems all the reviewers feel it's for a minimalist feel, reduce the stuff for minimalism. It has almost nothing to do with minimalism though. It's all about reducing parts. The best part is no part. Fewer parts means fewer assembly steps, fewer people to do the assembly, fewer supply chain issues to deal with, fewer parts to make sure arrive at the assembly line just at the right time. All this saves cost. It's about driving down the cost. The minimalist aesthetic is a side effect of this, not the end goal.

      @user-qh9lu5cl6n@user-qh9lu5cl6nАй бұрын
    • @user-qh9lu5cl6n Incorrect. If it's anything like my Tesla, there are just as many "vents" as any other car. They are just hidden deep within the dash in one long slit and are still fully positionable like any other car. You do it through the touch screen. So if there aren't as many parts to it, there are probably more. But I don't think anyone has ever had an issue with them. So I'm all for it. But it's not what you think it is. It is 100% for not only the minimalist aesthetic but for usability. Being able to control any vent in my car from the driver's seat is nice, not to mention slick as hell.

      @iROMine@iROMineАй бұрын

When small cars hit pedestrians, the send the pedestrian onto the hood, usually striking their legs. When a pickup hits a pedestrian, it hits their body, and the high ground clearance sends them UNDER the car, which results in 3x more pedestrian deaths compared to a car. Also, saying that "all cars are dangerous for pedestrians, therefore there shouldn't consider pedestrian safety" is like saying "All people are capable of murdering other people, so we shouldn't arrest anybody for murder."
