Today I go to the scrapyard and look for the ugliest dirtiest thing to melt down. I found some sort of weird light which had an Aluminum casing and Copper and Brass inside. I made around 13 pieces today and added another 3.3KG+ to the stack. So sit back and relax and checkout todays video but most importantly have an awesome safe weekend and see you all next Friday. And if your liking this video i have well over 320 of them now so be sure to check out what you have missed when you get some spare time.
Now if you Feel like supporting the channel it wont cost you a cent as you can Simply just donate some of your time. By just by allowing the ads to play through this will help out a lot and that’s how I make a bit extra revenue and the good thing is more revenue means more giveaways and more treats for the dogs👊🏻😄. A better way to support the channel is play one of my playlists on your computer before you walk away from it and let it play through that really helps as well but don’t ever feel as though you need to watch the ads if you don’t want to simply skip them and move into the video it’s completely up to you and I understand if you don’t have the time to do so👌🏻and like I always say if you like the rings shown and used in this video be sure to check out the description where you can get 20% off the already discounted rings using my code and if you want to try your hand at melting yourself you can buy the burner on its own or the whole furnace set up and I can organize a 5% link for you off the total furnace price just email me on bigstackddddd@mail.com 😁👍🏻.

HOW TO MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

    • How do you fall asleep "watching" this? There's no narration so you have to keep your eyes open at all times. I fall asleep 'watching' videos that are mostly audio and very little visual details. Listen to them until I go to sleep. I start my watch later list and just let them play. Before that I set schedule my phone to turn off and on in 15 minutes. That way I don't have videos playing the entire time I'm sleeping. And before you ask yes my watch later list is that long. I have lots of old videos I never got to. And now all I do i watch most of my new videos. One day I'll purge it out but I have over 2000 watch later vids.

  • You know... There's a lot of cassiterite (tin) ore down at Reedy Creek. Chris at vogus Prospecting gets heaps of the stuff while panning. It would be interesting to see just how much tin you get from an ore melt.

    @itatane@itatane2 жыл бұрын
    • Hi Pete. As much as I would like to see BigstackD try this, there is a huge difference between melting metal and smelting ore. problem one is you will need a high grade tin content. Getting that is my job ( I'm a mineral processing technician). Your second problem is. SnO2 (cassiterite) is a tin oxide it is associated with other heavy minerals such as iron pyrite and iron arsenates which will need removing first. As these are sulphides we use froth flotation to remove most of it. Smelting tin with the sulphides present will produce sulphur and arsenic gasses which are highly toxic. We then use gravity separation to further improve the grade and remove impurities. To smelt SnO2 into tin metal you need to get rid of the oxygen by making a charge of cassiterite, carbon and a flux. Then the tin metal would need further refining to be pure.

    • been there and tried that years ago mate. Pyrite or fools gold is a mineral and not a metal so it won’t actually melt and if you tried to all the moisture in the pyrite would blow the pieces apart but if you put it in a container and still continue to try melt it all that would happen is you would smell a lot of sulphur and you would be left with basically ore or a magnetic dust so you wouldn’t actually be able to cast it, That’s why you’ll never see any fools gold coins or fools gold bullion bar👍🏻
