Many many people have sung this beautiful song for years but He is the Master. I no longer know which of Dimash's versions of the song "SOS ..." is the one I like the most, but I love them all. His last one SOS... in Tokio Jazz... Is very intimately sung and great too. I honestly and personally (my own personal opinion) believe, Dimash is a Music Virtuoso of our time. Dimash is a respectful and kind young man; who always credits his Family and his Team for his achievements and successes. He is from Kazakhstan and is now 27 years old. Dimash has been formally training and performing for over 22 years. At the age of 5 years old it was determined he had perfect pitch. Dimash is known for his exceptionally wide (bass to soprano to whistle register) vocal range and breath control. It is recorded that he has a range higher than Six (6) Octaves and continues to improve his ranges and techniques. Dimash is a phenomenal Vocal Storyteller and Performer. Dimash calls his style an "Innovation" [Neo-Classicism] in the Classical Crossover Genre.. Dimash combines many Styles such as Classical (Opera), Contemporary (Modern, Pop, R&B, Jazz, Rap), Estrada and traditional Kazakh folk music. Because of his "crossover" style/abilities there are many Vocal Coach/Singer debates as to whether Dimash is a Baritone, Tenor, Countertenor, Alto or Soprano. I also think he was really nervous for The Singer performance. It was his very first performance on a show where his competitors were all known, accomplished singers while he was a total nobody - no one had ever heard of him. and not to forget a total foreign country/culture where he didn't speak or understood the language.... That's a lot for a 22 year old.
There was no family there with him either although his Dad did arrive in time for his Opera 2 performance though Dimash didn't know that until after his performance. You could see his face light up when he saw his Dad while he was thanking his orchestra, et al. :) A very sweet moment. He said in a Russian interview that the only thing that ever causes him a bit of worry is disappointing his family or his 'Dears'.
Many boys had angelic voices when they were 11 but we loose it to manhood. What we are left with can be a lottery, good or bad but we never regain those pure tones and highs. Somehow Dimash kept both slices of the cake.

If you continue watching his videos you will see him get even better, as if it were even possible. He is a professional musician that is never fully happy with what he offers, he always practice and get classes with his teachers. His low register for example has grown seriously the last couple of years, you will see it in Olímpico.
The Olympico from the Arnau concert is a good video to use.

And then......I could go on...but the point is that he has an amazing amount of talent; every song has a different flavor, from different genres, and each has special things to offer.

This song was written for "Starmania" is a Canadian- cyberpunk written in 1976. Just remember that with closed captions, the words in English don't always translate well with the original language. That being said, I personally like this performance better.
His performance of "The Love of Tired Swans" at a Kremlin concert hall w/ his mentor, the highly renowned/regarded Russian contemporary composer/arranger, Igor Krutoy, who came out of retirement to write specifically for Dimash, accompanying "the boy wonder" on piano, is a must see/hear. Also, if you treat yourself to checking out his video of "Across Endless Dimensions" (from the soundtrack of the Italian-produced sci-fi flick, "Creators: The Past", you'd better remove any glass from the immediate vicinity before the ending, assuming you don't want it shattered.

Dimash is totally dedicated! He practices singing 3 hours daily. He also swims daily to improve (!!!) his breath control. He avoids iced drinks and hot drinks for the sake of his voice. He gave up taekwando after receiving a red belt (as a young teen) because he was told his neck/vocal chords could be injured. He plays 7 instruments. Is studying Mandarin Chinese and English (he’s becoming more fluent in English.)
