Great review Dmitry. I love how you include gameplay clips in your more recent headset reviews. Keep up the good work.
To my ears, the Cloud II sounded better in the microphone test. It just has a lesser bass but it has more clarity into it.
You would love the microphone quality of the xbox 360 headset.
I think its the cloud iii is technically better quality, sounds more like a real voice. But unless its in the for him uncomfortable position of right in front yeah, it sounds too muted and unclear vs cloud ii so I think would definitely be worse for actually talking to people and them hearing you clearly. Maybe new one fairs better cancelling out loud keyboard noise, fan or something? lol.
Totally agree. Cloud 3 made Demetri sound like he had a cold - super muffled
something must be up with his headset cause every other review for the Cloud 3’s mic sounds amazing
totally agreed, cloud II's mic quality was much, much better!
I used to use audio technica mh50 but the pleather ear pads disintegrated and the headphones really hurt my ears. I switched to the hyper x cloud 2 headphones about a year or so ago and I love them. The sound is very good and extremely comfortable. I hardly notice them on my head! I'm tempted to get the wireless version of hyper x or sennheiser 569 closed back in the future. Sound quality and comfort is my top priority since I wear my headphones for 12+ hours a day. I'd be interested in hearing about any other headphones that have the sound quality and comfort of the sennheiser 569 closed back or hyper x cloud 2 under $200.
Thank you for the review it was really helpful!
I think it's time for another headset microphone roundup! by the way thanks to your last microphone roundup i purchased the cooler master MH751. I work in a call center like job for tech support and I wanted more emphasis on the quality of the microphone more than the speakers! almost two years later and they are going strong!
Love your videos dimitry ! Keep it up 👌🏻🔥
Thanks much for reviewing, I was planning to switch but not now.
I believe the original Cloud was the best in terms of mic quality. I fail to understand what headset manufacturers are doing. The only reasonable explanation I have is that they just don't intend to make really good products. The knowledge is there, after more than 20 years of creating PC headsets. But what do you get if you produce a really good product that lasts a decent while? Very few sales.
get the corsair hs80 for good mic these ones are so bad for what they price it at
@@davip5733HS80 is fantastic in generall
The average buyer most likely doesn't care about mic quality as they don't have to listen to it.
Sennheisers have the best mics. Very sensitive condensers. I used the PC360 for 10 years.
@@cl4ster17yeah agreed besides if we the customers can save money if they cut costs on mic quality than why not. as long as others can understand what your saying, that’s good enough i guess.
Using ready or not as a sound test is a bad idea. The game is unfinished, and the audio engine routinely throws errors in placement. People sound above you when below you, sometimes they are two floors above and sound right next to you. I would not use such an experience to judge the merits of a headset
This, i think the audio system is being updated in 1.0 anyways
@@AysoXD I'm really looking forward to the 1.0 release - lots of goodies planned.
hii do u think i should buy this pair? i use rn skullcandy crushers the 200$ ones but i want a headset with mic close to mouth
I remember cloud 2 was like the best headphone and a lot of people use it during that time, I still have it somewhere but it like 10/100 condition, the left output is not working anymore and I bought Cloud Flight because it's wireless, still using it till today. and now I guess it's time to this one too
where can i get your wallpaper ? its look amazing
I hope the earcup wires, that sticking out does not get stiff, since I think it was due to the stiffness, that I lost my left audio on my HyperX Cloud 2, 7.1's
I didn't realize these were that popular. I just got a pair of i assume last gens model for free. I saw it was tossed in the e-waste bin at work and they looked nice so i figured they might be worth keeping. Now I'm glad I did.
Thanks for the honest review
Desperately need an updated Wireless Headphones Roundup or Best Of video for 2023 Dimitry! There are so many options, and a mix of older offerings that you've reviewed along with newer models that you haven't (eg H3PRO Hybrid) that my head spins trying to make a choice for Black Friday :( Great review though! Love your stuff.
I'm sitting here with my 6 year old Cloud Alpha headset where the plasticiser is releasing from the plastic and that's why everything is unpleasantly sticky. The headset itself still works perfectly and it is really robustly built.
Love my cloud 2 wireless, probably gonna wait a bit to upgrade
in the near future, do you intend to test the Audeze Maxwell ?
I'm still using a Bose QC35 w/ AvanTree Leaf AptX BT adapter, and a AntLion ModMic Wireless Pro. Not really sure what upgrade I have over this config.
I returned my 3's and got the Alpha instead. Somehow WAY better and comfortable sound in my opinion.
Thanks for the ear pad website tip. Just ordered a par of pads for my Alphas.
Are we comparing a new in box cloud 2 with a cloud 3? Or is the baseline an aged cloud 2?
May I ask if you're using the h6pro with or without a dac in this review ?
Any chance you plan to do an Audeze Maxwell review in the near future? I know 300 is a lot and usually wait til I hear from you guys before I pull the trigger.
GSP 370 is the best headset ive ever used, especially considering from day to day use. 100 hr battery life is amazing, sound quality is pretty good too
Tbh I thought the cloud II mic was way better than the cloud III which was more muffled based on what I'm hearing in this video. Of course the H6pro was the best but mic wise i would go for the cloud II. Not so sure about the comfort level as different people have different head shape so it may differ from user to user
I think if he would have normalized the volume between the two you could better hear that the III is actually better. If you turn the volume up well listening to him talk on the III, it's very natural and not as grainy as the II. Yeah, comfort wise, I gave away my IIs. Opening is too small and too shallow for my larger ears. Sennheiser is one the few that make ear cups anyone can enjoy.
3 is better without a doubt.
Cloud 3 mic is so boxy
i think the corsair hs 65 also has a really good mic.
not true but tbh theyre both very good. most important thing is how these are the best sound whoring sets on the market. ive spent a disgusting amount of money trying flagship headsets from dif companies and these are them. they just are. most recent was the $350 nova pros from steelseries and dont even bother with those turds. obv im some rando on the internet but these reviewers are usually BOTS in FPS. fyi dont buy the lower end hyper products. also if youre into story games and crap dont take my advice, these can sound pretty good after some EQ settings for music and stuff but for FPS gamers BUY RIGHT NOW.
Is that a detachable 3.5mm cable?
Love my Cloud II. Have been using it for the last 6 years without any issues. When it comes to replacing them in the future when the time comes. I'll be looking for another Cloud II if I can still get them.
the cloud IIs you bought 6 years ago and the cloud IIs they sell now are different. Since the HP takeover the cloud IIs build quality is terrible.
@@derick6356. Yes I found that out from a video I watched few videos after this one. I hope I can find a decent headset for around the price off this one when the time comes.
I'm in the same boat, my hyperx cloud 2s are almost 5 years old, if they broke I would probably change to a Beyerdynamic dt 770
@@derick6356 Does it affect sound quality, or is it just build quality?
@@YEPCLOCK69 only cheaper build and cusion quality.
i plug it in G7 because i fed up with its dongle. but yes, i went back to cloud2 and cloud core wireless after used it for just 3 weeks.
Which Cloud 2 was used? The "new" HP Cloud 2 or the older (better) Kingston Cloud 2?
Just got this headset yesterday and love it. Been using it with the sound blaster gc7. Great buy 👍
Still rocking a pair of original cloud !
does the cloud 3 mic works con cloud 2?
Thank you for the very detailed video. My old Hyper x Cloud Alpha is now unfortunately defective. I was now considering buying the Alpha 3 but am unsure. It still costs 88 euros here at the moment. Do you have any ideas for a headset that would be cheaper and better? The sound quality is also very important to me as I use it to listen to music.
Totally agree with i was feeling same when i first weared it but after 1-2 days i got used to it. Ignoring that we missing that sharp sounds in fps games i was ok with it and on the other hand left happy with the improved microphone. Its almost a month since i got cloud 3 and dont regret it. Also believe that people will manage to bring cloud 2 sounds in nginuity equalizer for those who prefer cloud2 sound
do u play valorant too?
Is it good for valorant? Directional audio? I heard some say the cloud 3 has better directional audio some say cloud 2, what do you really think?
@@BiOHZRD97 already bought it, it's good for valorant (my preference)
@@BaguzL99 alright thank you i think ill buy the cloud 3 over alpha s
what eq do u use?
I bought this headset the first week and immediately returned it, I was expecting the audio to sound close to or as good as the Alpha series headsets. I'm not sure why but the audio sounded so muffled to me after using the basic Alpha headset for years. The headset is definitely comfortable, but if you are looking for high quality audio don't go with this headset. Yes I went through every windows/hyperx setting possible thinking mine was broken at first.
Thanks buddy, good review.
Which audiocard do u use?
Gotta say im in the same situation, i thought black friday deals would be a good time to buy Cloud 3's to replace my Alphas ive had since 2017. I wish i had done more research because the 3's are a definite step down in audio quality from the Alpha's. Ill probably be returning them soon.
Why would you think a neutral flat sound profile would come any close to the trash overblown profile of the alphas?😂
@@HelloImCrimson Some just earrippers i guess. If you compare any alpha to the cloud 3 on a frequency chart ( out of the box, no EQ-changes ) its pretty clear how much better the cloud 3 performs. Unless someone likes trashy, tin-can blaster sound profiles, the cloud 3 is many times better.
How does it compare to the black shark 2023?
What do you think about rakk
Cant wait to see the wireless
The reason why the HyperX Cloud II was so good is because it was a rebranding of Hifi Headhphones "Takstar Pro 80". They tried to engineer their own thing, and they never got close.
Yep
I wish they didn’t discontinue the hyperx flight s😢 was my favorite headset for the past 3 years
I need the wireless bluetoot or not to buy, send help :D
I bought the cloud II but I wish the cables were a bit shorter
Sound quality for rock? Or music in general like mids highs and bass, how do they sound? I've had the cloud 2 they sounded pretty damn good i might get the cloud 3 idk yet
hs80 wired or Cloud 3? is cloud worth extra 25 dolar?
as a audiophile and someone who bought the HyperX cloud 2 on release for my gaming setup i can say the cloud 3 doesnt compare to a lot in the cloud 2 , i used a audio tuner to fix the sharpness in the high end of my cloud 2 and now its basically perfect for my gaming setup , mic wise like even in the test you did the cloud 2 sounded a bit better than the cloud 3 , and yes in terms of comfort the cloud 3 are a bit better but i have the WC freeze ear cups from wicked cushions for my cloud 2 which were more than enough to fix the comfort issue for me . btw for anyone here looking to buy the headset for music rather than gaming go with the cloud 2 not 3 if you insist on getting a headset, but personally i would recommend other headphones if your main priority is music like the DT770 or the Sennheiser HD600
I want just for valorant only.. any recommendation?
Which audio tuner do you recommend? I'm using the cloud 2 for a little gaming but mostly for listening to music at work. My 3.5mm jack is broken on my computer and my headset must have a mic for work meetings, so I chose the cloud 2 over the sennheisers
@@namelesstemple i use equalizer APO , if you want a tutorial on how to comfortably use the app and install its interface correctly there are tutorials out there by trusted people in the audiophile community like crinical who have shown how to use the app
Music literally sounds best on a flat neutral sound stage like on the cloud III. Alphas have overblown bass and fucked up highs, its pretty bad for music
why would a so called "audiophile" buy a headset over proper headphones?
Best youtube thumbnail ever!
Man i had the orinigal Cloud I for the longest time and it was awesome. Sadly it broke on me a couple years ago
I hate headset with a volume control. After a year or two, it always begin to screw the stereo balance (you lose volume left or right)...
III's mic sounds to me much better than II's, but the Ii's was quite quiet for me and if this picks even less then it's almost like having no mic.
How about pinpoint sound, is it good in competitive fps games
The removable cable is what I’m up to these days. Just got the Logitech Pro X bluvoice with removable cable, and yes that makes me feel more future proof and long term for me. Removable cable is a must for me now
Removable cable is a must for me too
my cloud 1 has this problem after 10 years , I need to change the wire ... not a big difference between 1 and 2 .
Yeah I have to agree. I love the cloud 2 so much. I’ve found that the sound on the cloud 3 is very boring, there’s no body or depth. So sound on the cloud 2 is very fun, it has a very gentle V-shape to the sound, the perfect amount of bass, mid, and high. It’ll be interesting to see what they come up with if they make a new cloud alpha.
I just ordered the 2 because of this comment.
@@namelesstemple I have no doubt that you’ll love it!
@@namelesstemple I'm still on my original pair from launch. You won't regret it
V-shape has recessed mids.
how is the long turm comfort going to be as the cloud 2 gets a bit much after a little while
I'm curious if anyone came up with an eq settings in ngenuity that will make the bass and stereo almost (90% hopefully) identical to the cloud II ? I'm making a switch from my 4 years old cloud alpha and I enjoy the heavy bass delivery and stereo surround sound that helped me in my fps gaming days so I hope that I won't get dissapointed when trying to go up the ranking. Also is wireless a good option for HyperX headphones ? cause the main reason i switch was i experienced discomfort from occasional buzzing of the microphone that also adversely affected my mates. Thank you
The headset is solid but there doesn't seem to be any replacement mics on the market yet, which is concerning. The whole selling point of a detachable mic is that if it breaks, you can replace it.
the biggest issue i had with Cloud II is the plastic thing on hindge broke and there's no replacement parts avail. No AliExpress headband because of how they are wired.
This so much, the only reason I had to buy another pair of Alphas was because plastic hinge broke
I've had the Cloud 2's, the Cloud Revolver S, and the Cloud Alpha 2. The Cloud 2 is without a doubt the best one Ive ever had. Sound Quality was just unbeatable.
Look at the bitrate on your PC hahhahaa😂
@@ogcuratedwhat’s the bitrate ?
Can clouds 3 mic work on cloud 2?
Best thumbnail ever
We need a hyperX/Epos collab. I have the Drop pc38x. And I love them. But they're also...made of all plastic and it feels like a toy. If they ever collab and make a hyper x metal build of that type of headset/mic combo, im all about it. Nevermind. You mentioned HP bought HyperX. Rip hyperx i guess. Big companies never buy great brands to make the products even better. They do it to make more money on the brand name. They'll cut costs, and quality, and HyperX will be a shell of its former self. Its the end of an era... Cause big corpo has their claws in it now.
The Cloud III being worse in terms of directionality isn't a surprise, since that's exactly what toned down highs causes (and vise versa). The sometimes already harsh sounding highs of the Cloud II is exactly what gives it its great directional sound. You can't have both soft highs and directional sounds ... at least not in this price range.
Its literally a flat profile. Pls never speak again 😂
I've been using the original Clouds as my daily headset for more than 7 years and the nondetachable cable is becoming an issue. I'm not sure if fixing the cable is better than just buying another headset (I already had the plugs fixed). That being said, after my long-term experience, I can say that the HyperX Cloud are a great headset series. The only thing I'd love to have is a detachable cable.
Quick Update: I got the cable fixed, but I had to sacrifice the mic... Which I never used in the first place. They are still fsntastic headphones.
@@JuanCarlosAraujoS 7 years here too. Tried the Alpha S, couldn't stand it.
I still use the original clouds as a backup to my Sundara hifi stuff when I forget to charge my amp. Have been using the clouds for like 8 plus yrs no problem.
I recently got the Cloud 2 wireless, they are good on pinpointing enemies, but that's it, after 1 hour my ears hurt, the vocals sound is not good, and the battery don't last that much. I prefer my old astros a40 from 2017 that are heavier but way more comfortable and the audio quality excellent, it's just not as good about distancing enemies like the Cloud 2 does, so I think they are just designed for that purpose. if the Cloud 3 loses that pinpoint accuracy, then it's definitely worse than Cloud 2
Been using my Blackshark v2 for 4 years, still by far one of the best gaming headphones and super cheap on sales day. Sleeping more on Clouds
Wondering to buy cloud 3 or the blackshark v2 .. is it good for valorant?
@@BiOHZRD97 Yeah I actually play a lot of Valorant and I think it's great. In price comparison to Cloud 3, you may even get the V2 Pro (wireless) instead.
@@CodeNet0911 here the v2 pro (2020)is around 50% more expensive than the cloud 3.. the 2023 version is 110% more expensive.. is it really worth the money? Since i dont care about sound quality for music.. only for directional audio to play valorant and have that competitive advantage
@@BiOHZRD97 Depending on your location it may vary. But for US, on Amazon the V2 Pro is $100 (white version on sale for $90) which is the same as Cloud 3 $100 headset. Overall, V2 (with soundcard) and V2X (without soundcard) are further budget ones down the line, Sound queue is really good I never had issues. If you want to avoid cable, then take wireless. If you want the ability to adjust audio, then get at least the V2, and if you just want a budget but insane value for performance, then go for V2X
With the DTS surround disabled and just the regular audio enhancement setting enabled to default for device I thought the audio positioning was pretty good/accurate out of the box. The stereo/imaging spatial toggle was less crisp/less resolved imo. The no-removable wired cable seems intentional to not deter sales from the Alpha model, which is unfortunate.
Is it good for valorant? Or there is other better alternatives?
Damn, I was waiting for a review on the Cloud III and now that I saw yours, I'm put off from replacing my cloud II with the III. I've spent over $250 on different audio equipment and still keep coming back to the Cloud II. (PXC 550's ANC is popping, wireless stop/starts audio at random and no repair possible. GSP 670 crush my head and suck using on Teams. Redmi Mi Buds 3 pro aren't certified for Teams meetings, so not an option sitting in phone queues all day) Lorde, I don't know what to buy if my Cloud II's stop working outright.
What did you get?
I just bought cloud II on Amazon! I’m excited to test it😊
any news?
@hardwarecanucks I really love your reviews, what you do, and how you do it. Wanted to post this somewhere else, but I saw in your Shorts that you might be reviewing the Maxwell's soon, which is awesome. Since you are so diligent in your reviews, do you think you might be able to investigate the issues with driver crinkling on the headset? I feel like early adopter/reviewers didn't experience this, but I'm seeing a lot of posts about people having this issue after 1+ months of use. Thanks!
i have an MSI GH30 v2 i bought for 20$ and it's actually flying over my little head but for the Features it's Awesome
I think the corsair hs 65 also has a really good mic (got to know about that from your video only)
Sometimes it's better to not change anything/too much. I remember when the mx518 was legendary and they tried to give us the G400. It failed horrible and so they basically gave us the exact same model mx518 back but called it "legendary" or something. I use the hyper x cloud ii for many many years now and it works absolutely perfect. There isn't really any reason to change something like the mic or sound. A bit weight reduction, a bit more comfort is fine. I don't even need the adjustable volume and mute on the headset itself because the soundcard is placed exactly in front of my keyboard and it's much easier to reach to that than up to the headset. The only thing I know would like to see is a wireless version. Swirling around the cable is really annoying.
There is already cloud 2 wireless.
Our Regular hyperx cloud fit the HyperX CLOUD 3 As well!
I've used cloud alphas for like 3 years and I been thinking about using the cloud 3. But none the less awesome reviews from you guys as always 😊
I would go for studio headset like sennheiser for better sound for music, and also gaming ofc. studio headset will sound way better for listening music and content
@@nbhd996 thanks for the recommendation 👍
@@nbhd996 The could II had amazing sound quality for a gaming headset, and for a cheap headset in general. People overlook this but it actually was it's main selling point and strenght, not comfort. It wasn't "reference" but it was good, much better than anything in it's class or double as expensive. No other headset from Hyperclass came close to it, and when I saw they replaced the speakers in this one I knew it would be the case too. Shame
@@ulrich_badmecanique there is better option for the same price and even for a lower price than the Cloud II for years now...
I would recommend Alpha S, they are better than Alpha when you use the usb C sound card, the harshness is controlled a little bit with the usb sound card included, and the audio is much more controlled and very full to enjoy music and AAA games as well, in cloud series Alpha S is the best headset as per my personal usage (used alpha, alpha s , cloud core, core 2, stinger, revolver, this review is only based on which cloud headphone I liked the most for csgo and valorant and AAA games like genshin, warzone, studio headphone may always be a better buy but for gaming pc38x is still my fav over any cloud headset, maybe h6 pro is simialr to pc38x)
what headset better - HyperX Cloud III or Razer BlackShark V2 ?
Soundwise/audioquality vs Arctis nova 3 wich would you think its better?
dt 990 pro with a modmic still holds up like a champ 5 years in... i'd like an upgrade for a similar price but "nah" apparently..
This is so disappointing. I had the original Kingston HyperX clouds for many years and when they died I got the now just HyperX Cloud 2s hoping they were the same because it was such a good headset. Now when these die, if they no longer make the 2, I will be avoiding the 3. Its sad to see the fall of a legend. Hopefully they come out with a better version by then or I'll be switching.
Sony bought Audeze, maybe grab a Maxwell before Sony lay their hands on those.
@@unholydonuts Sony has been making great headphones and speakers for longer than Audeze-nutz existed. I wouldn't worry about it
can you revied the Cloud Alpha S?
After using my cloud 2 for years I bought the hyperx cloud alpha s and combined them with the creative g3 soundcard and they sound awesome the reason I choose the alpha s over the cloud 3 is the removable cable
which one better? im so confused which one to buy ( flight/s, alpha/s, ii / iii )
Your thumbnail made me laugh out loud.
Are my cloud II’s different? Cuz I have both volume wheel and mute button
Stereo imaging is literally the most important thing for a gaming headset :P Kind of DQs itself there then.
Better than the razer nari ultimate?
I used to love my clouds. But then I made my 58x and Beyerdynamic Tygrs my gaming headsets and I couldn’t go back. Open back is the way to go imo.
You are absolutely right. Got a pc38x earlier this year in like feb. And i instantly fell in love. HyperX cloud 2 was great. Logitech G pro x was also great, with slightly better mic quality. But the pc38x mic, and sound, and not having to tweak any software cause they're so well tuned. Is just amazing. Its my first set of actual high quality cans. And the sound is amazing. They made my mom cry cause of how clear, separated, and balanced the sound is compared to my previous headsets.
@@OGMagicOfLightif i only wanna play valorant.. do you still recommend pc38x ? I will never listen to music
so i had the cloud fight s which i absolutely loved but they started going out so i was thinking about going back to wired so i got the cloud 3 but it feels that the headset is kinda quiet the alphas seem to be a lot better
Did you try plugging the cloud 3s into the cloud 2 audio card, or plugging the cloud 3s directly into your motherboard sound card?
I've had a pair of cloud ii sat on my shelf since they were released. The sound profile is horrible and the mic sounds like crap. I've used sennheiser game one for years now and have yet to find a headset that sounds as good or has a better mic.
Are the ear cushions of the HyperX Cloud III smaller or larger than the Cloud II? One of the reasons I loved the Cloud II is its generously sized ear cushions that provided a perfect fit for my big ears, unlike my previous headsets.
You must not have as large of ears as you think. I don't have overly large ears and my ears touch the inside top and rub on the driver. Super uncomfortable for me.
I just brought it tried it .its very good . the cant hear footstep thing i can hear not sure why other wont. i think ppl are just too comfortable with bass headphone
i had that cable noise from RODE headphone, i want something else, so this one has similiar cable problem just like RODE then
So, how about that 3DVCache 16 core CPU AMD just announced? Did no one get heads up or reviewsamples? It's been radiosilence on YT
Its coming later in August
im looking to replace my cloud 2's with another pair but saw these and im not sure its really worth it. I was blown away at how good the hyperX cloud 2 headset was even compared to more expensive headsets i've had like astro a40's and V-moda LP2's.
Kingston or HP HyperX Cloud 2?
@@unholydonuts well im not sure when HP got involved but they are several years old (4+) so I would imagine kingston. honestly I've dropped them so many times, the braide cable is kinked and twisted and nothing has cut out not even the mic the only thing thats going is the PU on the ear covers and head band.
How do I activate Mic Monitoring on the Cloud III? Through the software it isn´t working..
anyone gonna talk about how good this guy is at battlefield 1? sick aim dude
Friendly reminder that an Audio-Technica ATH-M50x (or any 100-150 euro headset) + mod mic is a better option.
It really took them 8 years to slightly improve sound and mic quality, damn 💀
does the hyper x cloud 3 have side-tone? because its so annyoing trying to speak without hearing myself
Haven’t even watched the video came in here to be a menace no one can beat the steal series artic pro wireless with hot swappable batteries 💯💯💯
I didn't notice any difference other than the microphone.
