I think Bruce would have made the first, "Expendables" like ensemble piece, with top US actor fighters, (Norris, Jim Kelly, Bob Wall, Benny Urquidez, Bill Superfoot Wallace, Don the Dragon Wilson) etc, then top Japanese fighter/actors (Sonny Chiba, Toshiro Mifune) etc Hong Kong fighters (Jackie Chan, Hwang Jan Lee, Gordon Liu)....just.....try.....to.....imagine....that.......

  • Chuck lives about 15 minutes from me in a little town called Navasota, TX. About 15 years ago a friend of a friend had kids that played tee ball with Chuck's kids. He said Chuck volunteered to coach even though he knew nothing about baseball. He ended up being the bat boy for the team which lead to lots of "our bat boy can kick your coach's ass" jokes. The team party ended up at his ranch which the kids (and dads) loved. Everyone I've ever known that knows him says he's a really good guy.

For a trained fighter who can beat a man with one well placed punch or kick, taking down the 3 first is possible but the best way is still taking down the leader first to get a bit a self-satisfaction before playing the turtle..

    • Exactly and no punching bag never fought in the streets… Norris was hating on Bruce… without Bruce, Chuck or any American wound not even be doing karate and Chuck would not be a star… Bruce Lee popularized the art in USA and he was the one training us Americans and other grandmasters hated him for that… Bruce didn’t need to fight in ANY tournament because he was way above that and didn’t have to prove it but there are plenty stories that he would show you if you didn’t believe… one grandmaster came in his studio and Bruce closed the doors and beat him badly and this was a grandmaster… Chuck fights for points but Bruce fought a style that seriously hurts people, that’s his “points”… Chuck basically saying Bruce was not a real fighter and martial artist and never fought against people only a punching bag and they don’t hit back but people like Bones Jones could say Chuck is no real fighter but he never fought in a ring where the other fighter was trying to seriously hurt him for “points”… plus I never any grandmasters at that time being in any American tournaments… them and Bruce was above being any American Tournaments, unlike Chuck, Bruce and any Grandmasters didn’t have anything to prove to Americans about a art they created and Bruce perfected and popularized… every great American fighter said Bruce Lee was head and shoulders above the rest Jim Kelly said a famous fighter sparred with Bruce and lost but out of respect wouldn’t say the name… NOW I KNOW THE NAME AFTER Chuck just basically said Bruce only a movie fighter and only trains and fights with punching bags that don’t hit back… he was respectfully downing and hating on Bruce as a real fighter and true martial artist with that statement and back handed compliments

    • Chuck Norris is always seeking to put Bruce Lee down.If you listen to him carefully, you realise that he is trying to paint himself as better than Bruce Lee.He does this all the time.Bruce is not around to defend himself. If Bruce was still alive I'm sure Chuck Norris would have a different tone. There are people who say they witnessed Bruce sparring with Chuck Norris, and they say Norris was not able to touch Bruce.Bruce actually elevated Chuck's carrier by getting him involved in his movie. If anything,Chuck Norris should be appreciating Bruce, instead of constantly seeking to put him down.

    • Yes Bruce NEVER FIGHT in the ring - that's what Norris said. "He trained himself to be a street fighter with no rules or weight limit..big difference. " ...and... HE NEVER HAD A REAL "STREET FIGHT" WHERE HE CAN USE AND TEST his: skills, theories, tactics. He could - check - some of his concepts in ring fight - but he DIDN'T. So you have NOTHING! Just "stories", that one old man tells another old man, that he thinks that Bruce Lee COULD win if he would fight in REAL FIGHT THAT'S ALL YOU FREAK FANS HAVE - THE STORIES!

Its simple, do some research and stop talking out of your backside. Also, I as a saber fencing instructor and medaled athlete, I appreciated that his books (and JKD) specifically borrowed the footwork from western fencing because he recognized its efficiency. He adopted it, and even fenced for at least a decade. That may have been the VERY best thing about Bruce. He was the true "first MMA fighter". But he died too early.

It has all of Bruce’s verified, and historically documented fights in there, including his full contact match with Chuck that he will never mention or talk about. Yeh, he lost. Others saw it. Just like Joe Lewis lost. He must have been some “theoretical martial artist” to have all the top guys of the day wants to take lessons. Let me tell you something. You know what Bruce did to show he knew what he was talking about? He’d tell people “show me” show me what you can do. This was what he did when he offered advice/lessons to Chuck/Joe and then he would prove his point. You really think they’d take lessons from a guy who didn’t prove he could do what he said? Especially a guy who didn’t “compete” in that glorified point karate of the day? The point karate Chuck doesn’t mention? You know there is a letter from Chuck apologising to Bruce for trying to claim Bruce wasn’t his teacher and claiming they were “just exchanging ideas”. When Bruce found out he was claiming this he was pissed and Chuck wrote him a letter saying sorry. Look it up. It’s easy to find. “Chuck Norris Bruce Lee apology letter” And then when Bruce is no longer here “oh I competed. He just hit the bag” you really think he’s be saying that if Bruce was still around? Even Bill Superfoot Wallace said ot best; that to be called "world champion " all you need to do is defeat like 3 guys in one night of competition in 9BE city and you're al WORLD CHAMPION! Bruce saw how it didn't mean much at all and a total waste of his time. Besides Chuck did something called point fighting in which you didn't even have to touch your opponent to win! Bruce's backyard sparring with helmet gear and gloves was even more realistic. And mind you, it was a fact (and Chuck knew it) thst Bruce always had the better of Chuck when they sparred. Which was why Chuck kept going back to train with him. Ask Jim Kelley, Jame DeMile, Jesse Glover: they all said Bruce was untouchable and in a streetfight (not point fighting) he would no doubt win. He was born with lots of fast twitch muscles that none of them have; it's genetics combined with everything else he put his body through 8 hours a day. That's no joke, Bruce may have been good but your deluding yourself and dont understand fighting if you really believe just because he was a good martial artist who looked good on camera he could have been a high level fighter. Like Chuck says - world of difference. Yes, Chuck does owe a lot of his success to Bruce Lee breaking the ground in martial arts movies. But that doesnt make Bruce the better actual fighter - he wasnt. Winning street fights is meaningless. Lots of guys can win street fights, that makes them pretty tough and ok at real fighting. He has a hot temper when he should stay calm. I look at what others around him has said. What you said make yourself look like a Chuck fanboy. We will never know who will win an actual fight because it never happened! And yourself being the fanboy can't say Chuck will win. It was Jim Kelley who hinted that Chuck and others couldn't touch Bruce in sparring. How much do you know about MMA, history or martial arts and read enough books? I pretty much can guarantee that you didn't read or watch as much as I did over the years. Bruce was smart enough to carry a gun sometimes because I don't care how good your martial arts is, you will always lose to a bullet. Ask a gangbanger why he carries a gun. Why wars are won with guns and weapons. Yes, Chuck looked good in the movies also. He had speed and power. But it's also true that there's a little bit of jealousy that Bruce is more recognized than Chuck. If you know the history between the two, then you will know why...but I'll let you do the research and find out for yourself what kind of history there was between Bruce and Chuck besides the public images.

    • Yes, pretty much. Bruce Lee had no fighting experience worth mentioning. He was an actor, not a fighter. And while he did train enthusiastically, you know what you call someone who trains but never fights? An amateur. ANY pro fighter of ANY weight class would fold Bruce Lee up like lawn furniture. The fight would last seconds. People need to stop pretending that Bruce Lee was some kind of fighting god. There is a delusional cult of personality that exists around Bruce Lee and his mythology (and it doesn't help that a lot of people have made careers out of riding his coat tails and inflating his legend in order to attach their own name to it), but we literally have footage of the man working and NONE of it backs up the claims of his superhuman fighting abilities. Bruce Lee was just an enthusiastic, amateur martial artist. Very fit and very athletic, and he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his training. But he wasn't a fighter by any stretch of the imagination. And he could not possibly hang with a real fighter.

    • Don't be ridiculous. The people he's saprring with are his students, and they tag him several times during the fight (which kind of disproves the myth that Bruce Lee was superhumanly fast and untouchable). Chuck Norris likely forgot more about distance management and timing in the space of an afternoon than Bruce Lee ever even learned clowning around with his students. There is NO CHANCE WHATSOEVER that he could defeat Chuck Norris in a fight. Chuck Norris was a judo black belt; he wouldn't even need to outstrike him ,he would just toss him to the ground and bend him into unusual shapes and there isn't a thing Bruce Lee could do about it. Because he didn't have any fighting experience worth speaking of, and Chuck Norris did.

And they certainly did exchange ideas. But claiming that Chuck Norris was Bruce Lee's student is laughably false. Their relationship was collaborative, and they were peers. However, Chuck Norris has CONSISTENTLY stated when directly asked which of them would win in a fight that Bruce Lee was not a fighter. Chuck Norris actually was. It would not be a fair contest. However, let's just pretend for a moment that you are correct and that Chuck Norris actually WAS Bruce Lee's student. Mike Tyson was Cus D'amato's student. Do you think for one second that Cus would defeat Mike Tyson in a fight? It's actually the norm for a martial arts teacher to have students who are better fighters than they are. Outside, that is, of Chinese martial arts, which are more of a religious cult than a fighting discipline. If you don't have students that are better fighters than you, then you're a rubbish teacher.

Like he is trying to hint that it wouldn't be a fair fight. Yet, Bruce being a street fighter and let's throw away the tournament rules and he is right it wouldn't be fair. Because then there would be no referee or rules for poor Chuck to follow. People in the comment section talk about how humble Chuck is and he seems very nice in this interview, until he gets to the point where Conan asks the question who would win, Chuck could have simply said that he an Bruce never went there. But bringing up that he was the karate champion of the world isn't very humble.
