  • This man really proved that he can be better than Caleb Ewan in a sprint, than Alaphilippe on the hills, than Bernal in the mountains and than Ganna in a TT. And all of it in one week. Amazing

    • Apart from Poga and Yates, he was the best rider that mountain stage; he was for such a long time at the front that it definitely costed him more energy. Imagine if Poga didn’t participate this Tireno Adriatico. Poga was astonishingly good, but don’t forget that WVA is still very heavy and can potentially improve his climbing performance by simply reducing his mass - which will negatively impact his other skills, but given his potential it could be worth it.

    • @@joppemendonck The fact that he tried to ride a GC and that it was obviously a major success, implies that he’ll focus more on GC than he did before. Obviously he’s not going to neglect the coming classics and he’ll initially focus on that

      @Tim-K.@Tim-K.3 жыл бұрын
    • @@nicolasmattelin2374 That’s my point; he needs to lose mass - at least some muscle - if he wants to improve his climbing performance, but that will negatively impact his sprint and power on the flat. His legs are far too ripped for a climber and especially for a climber of his size. Of course he has a low fat percentage, as the more mass you have, the more energy you need to move - particularly when climbing. You also don’t see cyclists with a ripped torso, as it contains irrelevant muscles for cyclists. Riders such as Froome, Thomas, Dumoulin and Poga, are very skinny - qua muscle and fat - for a reason. They obviously have strong calves and thighs, but not excessively.

  • beats the best sprinters, can outclimb tdf winners and beats the world and european champ in tt. absolutley amazing wva

    • I mean he did come 2nd in the TT at the world champs so I’m definitely not surprised, it’s well known that he’s a gun time Trialer. I think the big thing was beating Ganna.

      @philipp9775@philipp97753 жыл бұрын
    • @@philipp9775 Well we all know he’s a good sprinter too, but he only beat Ewan because he was better positioned. Ewan is definitely a faster sprinter but positioning is everything at the end of the day, and that’s why Wout did win. As for climbing I had to admit I was surprised that he was able to sit on the front for almost the whole climb and drop the likes of Alaphilippe and Bernal. He’s definitely the most versatile rider in the peloton and one of the strongest for sure.

Not sure if his employer has told him to tone it down or he"s on the tranqs!
