This man really proved that he can be better than Caleb Ewan in a sprint, than Alaphilippe on the hills, than Bernal in the mountains and than Ganna in a TT. And all of it in one week. Amazing
Apart from Poga and Yates, he was the best rider that mountain stage; he was for such a long time at the front that it definitely costed him more energy. Imagine if Poga didn’t participate this Tireno Adriatico. Poga was astonishingly good, but don’t forget that WVA is still very heavy and can potentially improve his climbing performance by simply reducing his mass - which will negatively impact his other skills, but given his potential it could be worth it.
@@Tim-K. exactly but I think he first wants to focus on the classics and maybe later on gc
@@Tim-K. he can't lose a lot of extra weight, his fat percentage is already very close to the minimun losing extra weight will make him lose strength
@@joppemendonck The fact that he tried to ride a GC and that it was obviously a major success, implies that he’ll focus more on GC than he did before. Obviously he’s not going to neglect the coming classics and he’ll initially focus on that
@@nicolasmattelin2374 That’s my point; he needs to lose mass - at least some muscle - if he wants to improve his climbing performance, but that will negatively impact his sprint and power on the flat. His legs are far too ripped for a climber and especially for a climber of his size. Of course he has a low fat percentage, as the more mass you have, the more energy you need to move - particularly when climbing. You also don’t see cyclists with a ripped torso, as it contains irrelevant muscles for cyclists. Riders such as Froome, Thomas, Dumoulin and Poga, are very skinny - qua muscle and fat - for a reason. They obviously have strong calves and thighs, but not excessively.
beats the best sprinters, can outclimb tdf winners and beats the world and european champ in tt. absolutley amazing wva
I mean he did come 2nd in the TT at the world champs so I’m definitely not surprised, it’s well known that he’s a gun time Trialer. I think the big thing was beating Ganna.
@@jayamiddleon1717 yeah i knew that hes good at tt but that he also beat top sprinters and climbers all in a tour thats crazy
@@philipp9775 Well we all know he’s a good sprinter too, but he only beat Ewan because he was better positioned. Ewan is definitely a faster sprinter but positioning is everything at the end of the day, and that’s why Wout did win. As for climbing I had to admit I was surprised that he was able to sit on the front for almost the whole climb and drop the likes of Alaphilippe and Bernal. He’s definitely the most versatile rider in the peloton and one of the strongest for sure.
Remember Lance Armstrong did all that!...just saying.
@@philipdevenish9416 yeah with his meds
Crazy how mad this whole tirenno was. So many insane perfomances. Van Aert in basically every terrain; MVDPs mad ride; pogacars insane strenght on the hill and tt; and alaphilippe winnig a stage as well
Imlike this speaker. He is special. Good intonation and excellent messages.
Commentary sounds like it belongs more on the PGA Tour...
It's such pathetic commentary, and despite consistent criticisms, Eurosport do nothing...
Agreed
When you hire ex- Nat Geo narrator.
Ganna IS beatable! Gongrats Van Aert🇧🇪 Also 2nd in GC!!! 🥈
Epic prize that trident!
Loved the highlights commentary. Thanks Eurosport
Fabulous commentary from Carlton again...just a pleasure to listen to.
This generation of cyclists is something else.
I know right
your enthusiasm made me go watch the summary in somewhere else:):)
Ive been woken from my slumber to bring you Cycling, sponsored by Midnight Caller.
Great sports, wout was brilliant too
The commentators name is Carlton Kirby and I used to quite enjoy his commentary, especially the sprint finishes where he would almost explode! Not sure if his employer has told him to tone it down or he"s on the tranqs! Re: the riders, I've been following cycling for 42 years and I've learned that amazing performances have to be taken with a 'pinch of salt', if it seems too good to be true, it often is! 😢
The commentary sounded as though the recap was being read as a story at a 5 year-old's bedtime. Nearly nodded off by the time the last man set off!
Please spare us the usual “ASMR commentary” whining. The man has an elegant speech and knows what he is talking about. Let’s be grateful for this FREE summary that Eurosport offers us on KZhead...
It's pretty nice, as opposed to so much of (sport) commentary involving ADHD-sufferers.
Just the way I liked
If you think Kirby knows what he is talking about then I really think you need to pay more attention. He constantly gets basic facts wrong, has no understanding of race strategy and only knows a few basic things that he repeats as if they were nuggets of gold. Honestly, give me anyone else but Kirby
@@billkeane1820 if I think, you think, we think... it’s all good. Don’t see the point in criticizing free content...
Is the sound sync off? @1:30 explanation doesn't fit the picture.
The Fabian Cancellera of his generation
Am I the only one who almost fell asleep thanks to the commentator?
What’s up with Kirby?...
What did the Speaker smoke?
tour de france recon 2021 jumbo visma
Kung must have had a hard day. Beating Ganna, now knowing for sure that you win the stage, but then Van Aert beats you.
Speaker is great for highlights.
Pogacar to win the tour
My top 3 riders: 1 Wout van aert 2 vanderpoel 3 allaphilip Grtz from belgium ❤
Comment no. 60
We either need the commentary from the live broadcast or we need to replace the highlights commentator... I'll be disliking videos until a change comes
Van Aert will be No.1 at Jumbo Visma team at TdF 2021.
naaaah. Roglic is on different level than him.
This speaker makes everything so boring...even spoiling things before the video catches up
Tf is this, golf commentary?
Boy, this isnt a Sport commentator. He commentating all like its the most boring sport.
what about change the speaker? he is so annoying
I think the speaker for the highlights of Paris-Nice is great!
Its different but I like it
I disagree, superb speaker imo
I find it soothing
Honestly Idk why but I like him!
What a boring commentator.
Terrible narration. Dude sounds depressed. Also Pogacar's position on the time trial bike is horrible. Very suspicious that he's able to get this close.
Probably they fix the clock.
Nah, his position is actually fantastic, what you saw today was just the last 100 meters when he was close to exhaustion, for most of the stage he was tucked in nicely. (Although, yeah, he's probably on the super unleaded)
agree with you on the narrator, but I have no idea what you were thinking commenting that second bit, his position is great, you just saw the last 100 meters when he was exhausted, and calling him "very suspicious" is ridiculous
@@dacki3719 His position isn't great though, it was also awful during the Tour stage he won (for the entire ride, not just the final KM). He's not aerodynamic at all.
Pogacar=DOPING
