hes as complete a gc cyclist ive ever seen in my lifetime and while i feel merckx was built great for everything maybe more so monumets and one days with broad shoulders, hinault more GT , he might be in between the two and packing a sprint hes just phenomenal like others two mentioned coppi is magnificent anyone who makes those roads with those bikes look smooth is definition of souplesse and class. depending on what worlds courses look like over his career he could have amazing palmares. One longtime fan on chat i watch races on said something crazy but interesting he thinks if he just focused on GT's this year that this was year and maybe next while he still has so much recovery from benifits of youth to try all 3 GT's I just want to see him on stevio and tre cime he loves cold weather too hed smash giro id be satisfied with just that next year im sure he adores italy. he wont get near merckx record if he gets halfway there its out of this world in modern cycling hes winning at sprinters rate at moment but that will wane he could surpass 200 3 full seasons really 40 wt wins about. keeps that up or improves it by 31-32 hed be 200+ a number I wasn't sure we would see again ...thats key we will see. Its really really hard to dope these days with blood passports, retrospective tests and way more sophisticated testing protocols.
