  • OMG! After trying the Peak Design Anchors... there is NO going back! LOVE them! They are on all my cameras, heavy lenses and I carry spares for convincing others of their perfection.

  • Since having changed to OM Systems gear I find the Cotton Carrier a fantastic way to carry both my OM-1 with the 150-400 and 40-150 at the same time.

  • Tip: during the OM-system try-out I found out that the lens cap of the 150-600 has the same filter thread. So you can buy an original lens cap that fits the 150-400.

  • I got in touch with the chap who makes the wooden lens rests and he very kindly made one for my Fuji X mount Tamron 150-500mm lens. Not too expensive and a lot more comfortable than trying to hold the metal tripod foot itself. Lens caps and lens hoods are essentials, IMO, and I'd always use a good quality protection filter to prevent dust and scratches on the front element. I've used Peak Design anchors for years and attaching them to the lens itself removes the risk of damaging the lens mount on the camera body and/or the lens. Those wraps look interesting and I'll be investigating. One additional suggestion: I carry a few elasticated shower caps in my camera bag. If it starts raining, a shower cap provides great protection. They're dirt cheap, tiny and weigh next to nothing and they can be shaken dry once the rain stops and reused until use lose them / damage them.

  • hi Emilie The most valuable tip is that if you use the 150-400, you connect the camera strap to the lens instead of the camera, to prevent damage to your camera body. I always use a lens hood on my lenses to prevent false light (flare). ) to avoid, but maybe I'm an exception who always does that. it also provides extra protection against dirt on your frond lens and also protects the frond lens against impact damage.

    @theflyingdutchman7127@theflyingdutchman71272 ай бұрын
    • True. most of the time, I use my lens hood but having the extra cap helps my piece of mind and will also be helpful when I pack and need to put the lens cover in my suitcase to save space.

    • @@EmilieT I don't think the soft lens hat will take up that much space. but a hard lens cap is useful, they should have included it for free when purchasing this very dire lens. I use the lens foot as a carrying handle, and sometimes as a visor and of course as a tripod foot. This way I get maximum benefit from the lens base.

  • My must have accessory’s for the 150 -400mm BWL are the following. 95mm UV filter, (cannot take a risk of it getting accidentally scratched), I sourced a lens cap on eBay around a month ago. I have also used some camouflage tape on the area which would normally attach to a tripod (which can easily be removed if necessary). My main protection though is the slip over fabric camouflage lens sleeve, put on in small sections. It is very tricky to put on but is especially good in stopping the lens hood getting scratched as well as the lens body. I like your other suggestions which could be useful.

  • Protect the lens mount! Yes! Good advice ET. Wood palm rest looks way more comfortable than metal! More good advice ET. Zemlin caps are fantastic....but so is his smaller hood. If you order one go ahead and get both. Most OEM hoods are TOO big. Zemlin offers small hoods for you to consider.

    • Yes I was looking at his smaller lens. Do you have experience with them?

      @EmilieT@EmilieT2 ай бұрын
    • Not personally, but a good friend has his hood for the 150-400 and it is really nice. I will do my first business with him for the Sigma 500mm F5.6@@EmilieT

  • The Peak Design straps are great. I actually like to attach to the lens foot, with the included plate, on lenses I rarely use on a tripod. That prevents the strap from getting in the way when I bring the camera up to take a picture, which can happen if you attach the anchors to the loops on the side of the lens foot. Zemlin's caps are great too, for big primes.

  • I have one out of four, that's not too bad, right? I see the 150-400 lens has 'handles' to attach straps or QR anchors. For my 300mm I needed another accessory: the PD anchor mount. Handy little thing.

  • Great Video! Could you please tell me how long the 150-400 is on the OM1ii with the hood on? Total length of the camera, lens, and mounted hood. I'm thinking of getting this lens and wondering if it'll fit in my current Pelican case with the hood on it (not reversed). Thanks

  • Peak design anchors and wide strap. I was going to get the 100-400mm for wildlife but my brother in law wasn't impressed with the sharpness. So I got this 300mm. But the adjustment on the actually allows me to take photo 4ft away for macro capability to infinity. I'm trading in my m1 for the m2 in the morning but I wish I could keep both and leave one for macro. I also wish there would be a firmware update to keep the shutter down while changing lenses like my previous Sony a1 to help keep out dust and sand on a windy day. Do you think maybe you could suggest that to om system? I always use my 2x tc with my 300mm. Anyone have the 100-400mm and any thoughts on that. I'm also very excited to use the gnd on the m2 for low to the lower looking up macro shots. Coming from full frame Sony to these micro 4/3 cameras and buying these bazooka lenses for me defeats the purpose. I had the sigma 150-600 and they weigh the same. I find you can't keep up with bif with a tripod and lugging thar thing around is just too much. Especially when your doing it for hours on end. Imo.

  • Hi Emilie nice Lenscap ...... when are you flying to France can you take some with you 😂? The costs for transportation of a lenscap 20$ to Europe ... incredible for a nice piece of plastic ..what will it weight ? I am sticking to my trusted OLY cap that works fine . The lens protection towels .... nice too but during travel it's in the bag protected ., just like the iPad , but I will give it a thought . More stuff.... less room in the bag for lenses . The PD clips I use already for ages, never failed on me yet .

  • I use the PD anchors, with their wrist strap or neck strap. Love how easy they are. I was wondering about the 300mm f/4 lens (on OM-5 body). I don’t keep the foot attached because I don’t use a tripod, so removing saves weight. I attach my wrist or neck strap to the body only (one end on the side and one on the bottom of the camera, carrying lens facing down). Do you think the 300mm is giving too much stress if carried this way (and not attaching a strap end to the lens itself?

    @TamaraTB@TamaraTB2 ай бұрын
    • I don't own the 300mm. It might be ok as it is not heavy as the 150-400.
