  • Try an FG knot for connecting mainline to backing. Kind of a pain to tie but you don't get the bump in the spool as the knot is super flexible. If/when you get put on the backing the knot slides ultra smooth through the guides as well.

  • Greetings from the UK, really clear advice and that steelhead was a magnificent fish. In the UK we call the technique 'long trotting' and it works for a wide range of our freshwater fish. We normally run the line off the top of the reel and I don't know if anyone has ever tried a bead but otherwise the technique is very similar

    @julianthomas6899@julianthomas68992 жыл бұрын
    • Hi Julian, thanks for sharing. You should definitely try a bead!

      @AdventureChasing@AdventureChasing2 жыл бұрын
    • The bead is a single egg imitation which the rainbows or salmon would feed on in America using fish roe is legal I think in the UK its illegal but you can correct me if I am rwrong.

And at the time centerpins were not as popular as they are today, but now Im positive it was a centerpin and I'm pissed I don't have it anymore. There's a rod on the bloodrun site that's a four piece, 10.5 3 weight/ultralight rod you can use for spinning or pins. It's just that despite using almost strictly ultralight gear most of my life and it being perfect for drifting crayfish for smallmouth like I love, I just wish it were light action like my favorite walleye rod and my current steelhead rod
