Dubai shown without a single skyscraper! Refreshing😊
The first super tsll skyscraper in Dubai was built in 1978, World trade center, also in the 1980s and 90s the Skyline of Deira Dubai boomed. All the tall buildings you see in Deira Dubai were built in the 1980s and 90s, some even in the 60s and 70s. People of today under estimate Dubai from the 1970s to 1990s period. It was very booming city back then.
"I'm not that rich"
Agent Soshi :)
proceeds to say he doesn’t have pockets in a coffin well I haven’t even got pockets to afford a coffin
@Br M I don't think he is trying to stay humble, just saying if you have money to spend then do it.
Just an average bloke in Dubai.
Fuck of all
“I don’t think you have pockets in your coffin” that’s very poignant, and rolls off like a rhyme, very nice.
Half an hour show and not one building... how times have changed!!
JusmaVids few buildings
Now it looks like skyscraper Disneyland.
Weren't filming buildings, they were filming cars. So that's why you didn't see any. The place was packed with buildings even in the 70s.
@@OffGridInvestor Not true, LOL! Dubai was a small fishing village until the oil boom. It slowly turned into a small port in the 60's. It didn't even start exporting oil until 1969. Real estate barely got going in the mid-80s. The skyscraper madness didn't start until the late 90's. Even Dubai's now-extravagant airport was a tiny shadow of its current self when I first flew through there in 1999.
@@maniUSArmy I am pretty sure it was a big booming city by this time in the mid 90s though. I used to live in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia back in the 90s and though I never visited Dubai, I remember it being hailed as the most developed city in the middle east even back then! Of course it probably won't compare to today's Dubai.
Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, an F40, an F50, and a 959, literally sums up my childhood passions and loves. I can't believe they're all in one episode.
Who'd have thought the man at 3:10 would go on to be FIA President.
or would crash a renault f1 car in a drag race
Best soundtrack for any tv show ever...
Right? Every episode has super dope music.
The Pinkest of the Floyds.
Clarkson's record collection
Nobody's fault but mine by led zappelin around 21 min :)
"Momentum momentum and momentum" I assume that it's the early version of Speed and power
18 years old and you have a NISSAN SKYLINE?!
We call that being rich ... and arab
Travos k well, I'm an Arab and I work on my 98 mitsu eclipse with my bare hands, I can barely afford parts and upgrades, these guys are the royal family, it's just like Britain with their queen
Bro I'm also an arab And i drive my dad's old civic
They weren't talking about the popular GTR models of the R32 or R33 but rather the middle eastern spec Skyline R31 or R30 or even earlier. Nissan did actually make LHD versions of the Skylines back in the 80's and 70's for the middle eastern markets. They did have some difference compared to the JDM or Aussie spec Skylines. They used to be a popular youth's car among car car enthusiasts as longs as your rich parents could afford buying a new one. Of course, skylines are really just an ordinary car that happens to have some sport coupe versions. Sadly Nissan stopped selling the Skyline in 1989/1990 so we didn't get the R32 generation. You could still find some old footage and photos of these cars around some social medias but most of these cars ended up in the junk yard so most R31 and R30 owners right now are older 30-40 year old's who imported one from RHD markets and probably converted the steering wheel to LHD.
Falcon King yea the Datsun 240k skyline
That F50 ripping was special. Can count on 1 hand how many times you will see one of those rip that hard - on an open road at that.. Unicorn.
I always loved the look of that beast 👌🔥🔥🔥🔥
>Owns four supercars "I'm not very rich, but..."
3:14 who would've thought back then when this was aired initially, that this man would end up being the FIA president?
Sweet Days of 90's simple, Happy, Enj0ying..and Repeat Hit the Like if you are 90'S kid.
Ckarkson is the best narrator ever. Funny, erudite, educated and informative. Never knock the Clarkson. Loved this series
Clarkson outside Top Gear, particularly the rebooted 2002 era, always been very interesting to watch.
Zeppelin to Floyd to Zeppelin. Niiiiice.
Apollyon yess mate
wait, is that? hell yeah
Yup & it's cool 😎
Wow, Dubai has completely changed since then, in only about 25 years it looks nothing like this now.
The government which is basically the kingdom family has a budget of UNLIMITED. If they are Trillionaires now just imagine back in the 90s. Especially since they import the materials from cheap Asian markets.
That’s the biggest and baddest show Jeromy has ever done a modern part would be good
Clarkson rocking the Canadian tuxedo with ripped jeans an all. Perfect.
Clarkson has done the same series three times, and we still love to watch him.
Arabs with nissan patrols in the 1990’s : let’s do a wheelie Arabs with the same nissan patrol they had in 1996 in 2019 : let’s do a wheelie and get a ticket
More like a jail rather than a ticket
@@nobedz6688 دام أنها سجن خليك في بلدك
I watched a top drawer car show and got an absolutely cracking Pink Floyd concert thrown in. I’m winning this evening.
Watching this in 2022. Cannot believe the Dubai skyline back then!
still watch 30 year old vhs but tnx for nostalgia
You can literally play Pink Floyd in any situation and it will hit hard 🔥
No quarter to shine on you crazy diamond This is fantastic production with taste
I like watching this old TV show about cars....A nd Jeremy is good back on the days
As a someone who lives in Bahrain, not very far from UAE, i wonder where did these Escort Cosworth ended up? That's the most unexpected Ford to be ever seen here. Like, every Ford i see are Mustang's, Crown Vic's, Explorer, F Series and the rest of large American cars. I never seen a Ford Sierra, Escort or any European Ford...yet alone a Cosworth.
I live in the emirates haven't seen a single cossworth ever in here
@@cat-em3mj wow, that's funny.. out of interest what do you drive? There's few Sierra's or escorts now , thankfully turned to rust 😉
@@vrossi2596 Don't have a license yet.
I live here too but have yet to see any Sierras or Escort Cosworths. Would love to have one though. They're a proper respected classic now. No longer a cheap thrashed street racer they once were.
@@vrossi2596 thankfully? :(
4:53: A Ferrari F40 A Ferrari F50 A Jaguar XJ220 A Porsche 911 "I'm not that rich" What a guy
A mega-rare (and mega-bucks) Porsche 959 actually.
they need to go to dubai again
They've gone so many times to Dubai
Oh my God the sound of the Rover V8 it's goooorgeous.
Watching the sideshow at 8:00 you can tell some of these guys went to school at UC Berkeley and Stanford and partied in Oakland. Same shit you'd see in a Mac Dre video.
Watching this in a 200km/h bus. I don't understand why people think we love speed
احمد عماد this made my day 😂
where do you have that
I cannot be the only one that seems to be creeped out by that intro 😂😂😂😂
Connor Gibbs thank god im not the only one, Jeremy really upgraded with time 😂😂
It is similar to the Grand Tour intro somehow
Bin Sulayem is the new Fia director for F1, nice carrier 👍🏻
Is it really him? I thought about it...
@@nemanjamaksimovic1263 it is
4:53 Sure Sure
you are just hating
Ayman Khan fuck you bangali
Muhammed bin suleyman is the FIA director now 😮 Damn didn’t know Jeremy interviewed him before
The largest car…in the world
I did not expect to see the fia f1 director mohamad bin sulayem
when the power wagon has a Detroit engine not a chrylser or even a cummins..
Thanks for posting these
Great video! Thanks!
Rainbow sheikh probably rethinking his favourite colour scheme in light of recent events. He doesn't strike me as down with the wokerati and their transistor aparatchiks. 🤣
This was great 👍
Love it!
On 7 March 2023, his son of Sulayem' Saif Ben Sulayem, sadly died in a road accident in Dubai
I think it would be fun to chill out there for awhile !
Whos coming here to see the current FIA boss in '96
4:13 I like that fact that kids with Nissan Skylines are just a menace the world over haha
As an American, these guys are honorary Americans. I want to live in the truck house.
That pickup is insane
ohhh man the time when all islamic states were at peace :C
asif ...........😧😧😧😧
the emirates is still peaceful
Our only enemy was the palestinian invaded lands.
Yeah it was before USA arrives to deliver peace
UAE is still at peace lol

The claymation makes me laugh every time.

8 meter wide house, monument and car all in one.
The FIA president 👀
Nostalgia
Why can no other culture do a wheelie so well
with no ramps ..
MAN DUBAI LOOKS FUN
This is from 1995, now its even more fun
Yes british entertainment and music at its finest
@3:07 Mohammed Ben Sulayem, now the President of the FIA.
Is it just me or does both Top Gear and The Grand Tour have elements from this intro music?
got to love a cossy
The f40 is now an 8-15 million dollar car now.
3:07 Didn't expect to see the current FIA president here.
Soundtrack at the end?
does anyone know the name of the song on the intro?
From the future, Mohamed ben sulayem will be the FiA president.
That Nissan is a marvel
9:50 a certain SOUTH AMERICAN COUNTRY is the same. Possibly El Salvador. But you can be causing a 2 kilometre long jam but HAVE to stay still. Can't move it to the side of the road.
23:32 not anymore
True😔
4:33 social distancing
the f40 is timeless
3.30 secs... Hold on, I'll build that for you😁😁 The difference in the place from then til now is unbelievable.
As a emirati patrols are very common
Bin Sulayem.. jeremy is talking to the man who will make f1 exciting again in the future.. and he have world's most rare cars..
8:06 How do you even do that. Id always thought it was CGI from car movies 😭
💚
oil dollar -> best dollar baby since the 19th century xD
Your job is to pull me out and shut up :D
early andy wilman
I wonder how well would the Patrol GTR do on those sand dunes.
4 wheel drive
Is that radiator heater hose holding his tea towel on?
Clarkson of Arabia
I never knew Falcons were that fast.
The Japanese word for them is Hayabusa (as like in the motorcycle).
In fact it is the fastest moving animal in the world
But it's only 186 mph or 300 kph.
It's not exactly honest to say that is how fast they can fly, those speeds are achieved when they dive. A skill that probably doesn't see much use when it's flying low over the desert (presumably, I mean I'm no expert, but at least I can exercise some common sense!) Also, I don't know where Jeremy pulled "280 mph" from. The fastest ever recorded speed of a falcon is 242 mph, which, while incredibly fast, is a far cry from what that Jeremy said that falcon can do. Gonna go out on a limb and suggest that something got lost in translation, and that bird could either hit 280 kph or 218 mph, both of which are feasible for a falcon.
I love the Pink Floyd in the background.
14:00 now all modern headlights cost like this.
is that the F1 guy now
5.00 Gets done by a jeep...
OMG IS THIS DUBAI???
RAHUL SINGH please tell me your joking
Yes from 1995. Why
I agree with Mohammed, more fun to enjoy the car with less distractions
11:20 Shine On You Crazy Diamond lul
The last man island.
No way in hell would you need 4WD low range to get over that silly speed bump
It was a land rover.
That random Chevy lumina
Youd still have that F40, F50, XJ220 and Porsche now . . . . .
He wasn't joking there's literally nothing
ohh man this cars DreAAAM
Am I the only one who noticed the Zeppelin song?
