Marvelous song
"New country" music is trash. This is Country & Western, real music that represents America.
The harmonica player is called “Devil” reference the Willie song “The devil shivered in his sleeping bag” that’s him.
Jamey Johnson is the only artist that comes close to anything like this. Other than him I agree completely.
I'm a 68 year old female and have had a huge crush on every one of these men since i was 18 years old. Two of them gone. Two getting close. Their spirit and music will live immortal.

The voices, especially Willie's, so unique. Half of these are dead, Willie is 90 & Kris is 87. You can't beat a good country song.
The harmonica player deserves a raise....$$$$$$$$$$$
When you look in Willie's eyes you instantly know that this a truely heartwarming person.
I feel like this is Willie performing at his best. His voice is perfect. Such passion and joy with Trigger in his hands. The whole group. These four men have influenced the entire world of Music. Giants among men who moved and taught with their voices and their guitars.

This is just pure, raw talent without all the extra crap. Just easy and natural. Willie Nelson is one of the best artists, song writers and musicians of all time.
I totally agree Wenda
My first concert was late for my generation. I saw Garth brooks and it cost me $25 through the fort. He couldn’t hold a tune as he jumped around the stage amid the smoke. Not my style. But Clapton or Billy Joel, no smoke, no mirrors just raw talent. I’m so disappointed I didn’t know country music during this brief period when “The Absolute Legends”, imho, were touring. Oh my! What a concert that had to have been! I’m absolutely not jealous of anyone who got to see them in concert. I’m happy for them. 😂😂
Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson, doesn't get any better than this!

The best damn train song ever written, sung by four amazing artists. Song written by Steve Goodman, who was gone too soon, and made famous by Arlo Guthrie. Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.
Me too! I just love this song!
Steve Goodman was a treasure
Arlo said that when Steve Goodman first played the song for him it was because he knew Arlo was a friend of Johnny Cash and Steve wanted Arlo to get it to Johnny. Arlo did take it to Johnny Cash who said he'd done enough train songs and would pass on this one.
End of the line by the travelling willburys is close though but this is great and I’m British I love it
So sad that nobody remembers Stevie Goodman who wrote probably the greatest American folk song ever. Will never forget.
The one where he was drunk the day his mom got out of prison? Lol
My favorite by David Alan Coe that Steve Goodman wrote. "I'll hang around as long as you will let me, and I never minded standing in the rain". (The "perfect country and western song"...but before I could pick her up in my pickup truck, she got runned over by a danged ole train...") And of course THE CITY of New Orleans. THE HIGHWAY MEN ARE THE BEST EVER!
I remember him..... I would like him to know that!

Steve Goodman and John Prime wrote it together but Prine didn't take any of the writing credit.
Before the world went crazy & America was still America & freedom.

It always makes me smile right at the beginning when Kris comes marching onto the stage just as the song begins! He's still connecting his guitar as Willie begins singing. I guess it is a simple example of how well they all got on and how comfortable they all felt with each other. As many, many others have said many, many times - how could any group of musicians ever be better than these four?
I noticed too that Kris was trailing in a little late! Ha!
The uilimate supergroup
Nobody can hold a candle to these fine gentlemen.
Good observation! I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out. I re-watched it a few times and figured out that he was doing a guitar swap. For a split second right at the very beginning you can see Kris handing off a guitar to someone in the shadows and then he turns and picks up a second guitar from a stand on stage, which he then plays for the rest of the song.
Every time I watch The Highwaymen, I am impressed. I am impressed at the bunch of backing players and singers, all working together to make a big, full sound and all live. And I am particularly impressed that these four legends seem to happily share a stage, and far from fighting, seem to calm down and have fun because none of them has to carry the whole show like they each do when performing solo.
Nice to see Reggie Young providing support. One of the best guitarists you’ll ever hear.

These 4 are legends, they broke the mold and said we're not gonna do it that way. I like a variety but never get tired of listening to them or country from 50's to 80's the generations after that lost something along the way and good country got tossed to the curb.

@@Sam-lj9vj I cry for the America that I grew up in and loved. It seems to have died
America was still America? Yes buddy those days are over now. Real power now in hands of China and Russia.
Back to the edge of a time when courageous men had carved a country out of a wilderness that covered a continent. Then came those who were softened by having too much plenty of everything, with no need to struggle, or do a days hard work for it, educated way beyond their innate ability, concieted, entitled and thinking they knew best, sneering and condescending to the ones who farmed the land, the linemen ,the maintenance men who fixed things when they broke. They insulted and undermined the stay at home mums who were doing that most important job of all, raising their kids right. They were called liberals, the ones who fkd it up.
