To prove he is part of the Tanaka clan, Frank (Jean-Claude Van Damme) performs the "Dim Mak" otherwise known as the 'death touch' in which he breaks a brick with his bare hand. His perfection of this move grants him an invitation into the Kumite tournament.

In the role that kicked his international career into high gear, Jean-Claude Van Damme stars as Frank Dux, a man who refuses to lose and who might just win himself a place in history as he competes in a full-contact world championsip competition. Co-starring Forest Whitaker and the mighty Bolo Yeung, "Bloodsport" is a classic story of courage, skill and determination. Van Damme that's action!
Directed by: Newt Arnold
Screenplay by: Sheldon Lettich and Christopher Crosby & Mel Friedman
Cast: Jean-Claude Van Damme, Donald Gibb, Leah Ayres, Norman Burton, Forest Whitaker, and Bolo Yeung

Scenes like this are exactly why this film is an 80s, action, and martial arts classic.
And real tough men.
@@Larstig81 This era was the hardest.
They dont make them like they used to
"Very good, but brick not hit back!" That was one cold stare Chong Li gave him.
Specially that one destroyed :)
"Boards dont hit back" Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon
@@claudimerrothey were buddies back in Enter the Dragon
Yeah.Blocks of ice don't hit back either.😄
@@IslandBoy-808 Thats from Jason Scott Lee movie of Bruce Lee right? That scene is awesome.
JCVD films were such peak childhood memories..
Funfact, a huge chinese guy at the beginning of the film who escorts van damme and the white dude was in the chinese tv show "condor heroes" which a) the actor who played han in enter the dragon was in b).the chinese tv show became an anime
No matter how many times I see this scene…it NEVER GETS OLD…..the Music….the look on the bystanders…..the suspense….PRICELESS..💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥💥💥💥
....the acting. This was pure cheese back in day. Classic! :)
Even though it might be a fake story it's still one of my all-time favorite fight films.
The idea of bloodsport might be fake but the story and frank deux is very much real. Also the fact that bolo young was in his 50's in this film and one of the very few that actually got to witness Bruce Lee's true speed
Nothing is fake if you believe in truth and life
@@upstatearms4 bolo yeung was 42 when the movie came out lol
To be fair most great movies are fake stories.
@@upstatearms4dude, Frank Dux was a real person, but the story was a lie. He never fought in any kumite, he was never a grand champion at anything other than spewing bullshit. And Bolo was not in his 50s in Bloodsport. For the love of God, educate yourself before speaking on a subject.
The 80's and 90's was the golden years of the World
All that cocaine made it seem that way at least!
I'm guessing you were a teen then. Everyone's teen memories are the best. It even has a psychology term--Recency Bias.
It's funny how Bolo Yeung took Bruce Lee's words ("Boards don't hit back") back.
honoring the legend ...called respect
Bruce was his RL friend, in an interview he said he felt honored to have been able to call him(Bruce) that.
@@rasikkom9605 Bolo Yeung is a great and humble guy too. Well known in Hong Kong.
Bolo is in an old Bruce movie. The one with the fight tournament on the island
@@TheK9class old bruce movie? It's Enter The Dragon you heathen.
Met Bolo Yeung multiple times. He used to go to the 24HR Fitness in thr property i used to work at. Very nice guy and still had that physique
you mean still top heavy and soft in the middle?
Really
These movies made kids into men. I love my childhood.
and nowdays they make men into kids
This movie’s soundtrack is superb!!
Yeah, absolutely. Fight to survive… Love it!
JCVD may have had the lead but without Bolo Yeung, this movie wouldn't have had half the awesome factor.
Childhood Fav. I love the 80's ❤️😊🎬🎥📼
I don't care if the story about Frank Dux was true or not I still love this movie.
I like how they have the Dim Mak demonstration all set to go, just in case this situation arises.
Of course 😂
How do you know they didn't set it up after the questioning?
@@jygb7092 Because the guy questioning his training, points over in the direction where the bricks are when he says to perform the dim mak, indicating that it's already set up for him to demonstrate the tecnique
@@FreePlayMode it's almost as if they were viewing applicants and deciding whether or not they were worthy to fight in hand to hand combat to the possible death. Weird to have training sessions and equipment around, I guess
But of course. It's in the script!
I love this campy stuff from the 80's. But seriously the amount of people who believed you could have superpowers by learning some karate or kung fu after watching movies like this was astounding :)
It really was astonishing what people would believe about martial arts. But then along came social media and many so-called masters were proven to be frauds
Be fair, the internet wasn’t around and ufc hadn’t come out and exposed the fake masters. I grew up in the 80s and all you had was peoples word. Combine that with rags like black belt magazine, it was a magical time of mystical bullshit.

One of my favorite lines is from this movie. "It hurts me just looking at that" When Van Damme is doing the splits between two chairs. I don't think a more accurate line has been spoken.
I keep waiting for him to scream “NERDS!!! “
One of the greatest actors of all time! I actually remember him best from Subaru commercials back in the early 90's!
Ogre! Ogre! Ogre!
Every time this movie comes on, I stop what I'm doing and watch it
This is one of the best movies of all time!

Crushed Motrin ftw
I hung out with the real Frank Dux while he was here visiting Puerto Rico 🇵🇷.... great guy!
I literally say "Bottom one" in that accent everytime i see this scene. 😂 Such an awesome movie. Man i miss the 80s and 90s.
😂😂😂
You also say that when your boyfriend asks you "top or bottom?"
Those men asking him to prove who his Master is had his best interest in mind. They didn’t want a guy who couldn’t compete to die. It was actually very thoughtful of them. Of course, he could compete and he proved it.
also... the Dim Mak is probably the signature strike of Tanaka. Of course the best way to prove he's really been trained by Tanaka is to demonstrate Tanaka's move.
The audio is a gift from god.
Van-Damme's *"BOOYYEEEEAHHHHHHHGGGGGGHH"* is classic.
Bloodsport - a legendary movie. I love it till this day
This film is legendary. JCVD forever.
Probably Jean Claudes best movie
One of many favorite childhood movies. 80s were magical times
Bolo Yeung’s awesome. My favourite villain in Van Damme’s films, especially in Double Impact. Line was copied from Enter the Dragon. “ Boards don’t hit back!”
This movie and The Kickboxer are just pure perfection.
Bring back the 80s 😭
Chong LI definitely made his own Bruce Lee analogy of boards don’t hit back😂
Now i gotta watch Bloodsport again!!
Praise be to Count Dante for his extraordinary imagination for coming up with such an enjoyable movie.
I like that initially he was just going simply hit the brick but when everyone started watching he went thru a particular ceremony before hitting it 😅
Do you really not understand what happened in the video
I want a hoodie that reads Bruce Springsteen is my shidoshi 😂
I made some for the gym... No one knew what it meant, but there was the few rare that understood where the reference came from 😬
I saw this comment and lost it 😂. My family asked me what was so funny and I couldn’t even begin to explain it. The struggle is real. 😂
So you’re saying that in fact some actually did know what it meant
LOL!😂😅
0:02 I love that movie.
"The bottom one!"
I don’t care it it’s all feltergarb. It’s still a damn good movie!
Back when movies were great
Anyone remember when JC was the baddie in No retreat, no surrender?
Best martial arts film ever
I agree it was good but Jet Li's fearless was epic and Donnie Yens IP man series was just amazing. Also if we are looking at older martial arts movies I always go back to Enter the Dragon
Bolo : "Very good but brick does not hit back" Me : "Ok thanks for the great advice. I'll be off now. See ya"
Jackson: tá na cara que é uma honra !
bottom one!!!!!! nice sounds and then all fighters coming, love it
One of my favorite movies!
Always a great movie to watch after coming home from work night shift and you don't feel like sleeping.
Absolutely love it!!’ Great job Bolo!
"Bricks don't hit back." (Isaac Newton has entered the chat) Um, actually, technically-
Underrated. Bricks hit you back all time you hit it.
If Tank Abbott and GSP were best friends.
Ken Siu as Victor was very underrated as a character / supporting actor in this movie
Whatever the Truth is about Frank Dux, We may never know, But the Film was very well Done, and will always be a Classic.
Bolo Yeung channeling Bruce Lee with the brick not hit back comment.
This brings big bad dawg memories all the boys rounding up 😂😂😂😂😂 my dad liked it so did we

Best scene of the entire movie. Never gets old. By the way, who’s watching in 2024?
Bolo is the best
This movie 🎥 made him famous...
How come peeps don't recognize bolos line, bricks don't hit back. It's from when Bruce Lee says boards don't hit back. Awesome yo!!
I read a Comment once. "No! Bottom one." - Takes bottom Brick and puts it on top.
1:40 is how I feel when someone micro manages 😂
1:40 When cocaine finally kicks in. 😂😂
Such a legendary film.
The real Frank Dux actually demonstrated this brick breaking technique and claimed he could kill or seriously injure another human with one blow and leave no physical evidence. He then demonstrated breaking only the bottom brick out of a stack of two bricks, and seems to have implied that he could do the trick for larger stacks of bricks. Before I saw the video of the technique, I previously thought it was a myth.
the demonstration was quite different from what was shown in the movie...
The “real” Frank Dux is a complete fraud. His entire life story is made up and/or unverifiable. He may have been a martial artist but he never could do any “special techniques” like shown here. If there is a video of him breaking bricks like this it is very likely that the entire thing is staged with prepared bricks.
Ha!
When Frank did it, yeah, the bottom brick quietly broke into two pieces. In the movie, it F'ING EXPLODES!!!!!!!! 😂
@randomjive7310 Dux was a complete fraud so probably a magicians trick
My favourite true movie written about a man who is inspired by fantastic events
Epic, great memories watching vhs
What’s the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his shidoshi 🤣 that always makes me laugh.
omg , this film .. yaa , this one .. i remember this scene clearly in my head .. and I always find it , and now here i am
Love it when this man's eyes light up before hitting the brick! Haha, classic! 🤣
Death touch is to be used in extreme circumstances... self defense... ultimate discipline... naturally all other contestants would be afraid and respect him...otherwise they would have a death wish... it's an ultimate offense move and should be used for defensive purposes... that Said Jean Claude van dam well he's van Dam😮😮😮
This is the Oscar scene of the movie. Both in the category of Slow Motion head and face action, as well as Ogre in the Best Supporting in the category of Best Hoots & Hollers.
Bolo Yeung: "Brick not hit back". Similar to Bruce Lee's : "Board don't hit back".
