Night Engine Run: Japanese Dive Bomber

The Night Engine Run was an exclusive VIP event for airshow photographers, only 50 applicants were admitted. Three historic aircraft were moved on to the flight line after dark and lit up with cinema quality spotlights, then the engines were started and allowed to run at full throttle for several minutes while staff & licensed photographers took long exposures of the spinning props. I was one of the cameras on the field and captured a video on my phone while I was shooting with my DSLR. This is only the 3rd year this has been allowed in 32 years of the airshow.
This Aichi D3A dive bomber is an old restoration. It was rebuilt in the 1970s and was used during filming of the movie "Tora Tora Tora."
