Single pilot in those conditions. The true sign of an aviation professional. Thanks for your outstanding work.
Thank you very mich. It was not a comfortable flight but it was a safe flight. That is all that counts. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
I concur! Great job all around. Excellent learning tool.
@@captainwesb57 Thank you for your kind words! Happy Landings, Cap. Guido Please help me to crack the 100k subscriber mark by your subscription to my channel. Your support is appreciated!
As a 15,000+ hour pilot I have to say that was an exceptional example of IFR flying from start to finish!
Thank you James. makes me proud to hear this from an experienced pilot like you. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
I Wonder how does he avoid big cells during the flight, since he doesnt have radar device
As a non-pilot, I enjoy learning the technical aspects of flying. I enjoy seeing the captions which explain why a particular action is carried out in a specific manner. Thank you.
Thank you Dan. I try to make these videos for wide range of the audience. Happy landings, Capt. Guido
Completely agree. As a non pilot it is very interesting for me to see this.
Same here
Yes, very much so! And also, during the cloudy takeoff all I could think of is driving on wet, foggy roads and taking it slow and watching for taillights! 😂
I thought I was the only non pilot aviation fanatic that watched video’s for similar reasons. Glad to know I have associates all over the world apparently. I’m in Texas USA, I might add, with Scottish blood according DNA and name.
Wow… the landing was smooth as butter!
Thank you! While the passengers like smooth landings, more important is that the landing is "safe": at the correct speed, at the touch down zone and with the aircraft under full control until reaching taxi speed. I owned a 182K for 25 years. Every time I took off into low IFR, my last thought as I started to add power was "Hard on the instruments." I took that thought from a Sporty's IFR video and it served me very well. It can be something of a disorienting shock if you take off in your accustomed VFR mindset. By starting the scan before you ever start rolling, it makes the transition much, much easier. Nice video.
Thank you David. IFR flying is requires a lot of practice and gets easier the more often you do it. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
@@GuidoWarnecke indeed it does, but also if you don't do it for a while, acuity and perception changes dramatically...it needs to be accomplished often, and not just in a simulator. Great video mate.
Such a professional pilot. Your safety and thoroughness are exemplary!
Thank you very much. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
a professional pilot would have stayed on the ground
@@gaguy1967 not so... being a professional pilot Cpt. Warnecke understands aviation risks thoroughly, is trained to manage them safely & effectively and is well qualified to decide if the flight is Go or NoGo. You have made your assertion without the full information that was available to him in planning and executing his flight.
@@theflyingfool a lot of "good" pilots crash when they make the wrong decision
@Steve Roberts well said Steve - thank you. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
I completed the final requirement for my PPL yesterday. Your flying has served as an excellent example of precision in a pilot, which is something I’ve tried to emulate. Thank you for being a role model to myself and others in this community!
Thank you very much Arthur. And congrats for your achievements in the flight training. All the best for the PPL and Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
I totally agree Arthur!
congratulation , me too i completed my ppl , thanks good. and now i am in the way for my cpl
This is more than a lifestyle. Wonderful
Thank you. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
Your mannerisms and little details are an example to follow.
Thank you. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
I may never be more than a 'sim' pilot. But I can say that the realism of recent sims certainly tax my complete lack of experience. You made this flight look easier than my zero-wind, blue sky 172 sim 'flying'. Amazing.
Thank you Rick. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
I`m a commercial pilot, but haven't flown in 10 years. This video is a MASTER CLASS for beginners. Realy realy good,
Thank you for your kind wirk. I hope you can resume your flying soon. Pkleswe keep me posted. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
A masterpiece from the humble master. Happy landings Guido !
You are very welcome! Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

Dangerous for new pilots: ice, imc
As a private pilot, I'm always looking to learn more. Your videos on procedures and safety makes my passion for aviation grow even more, thank you for putting in the time and effort in making these videos! We appreciate it more than you think Guido!
Thank you Johan. Comments like yours are very motivating. The effort and time that goers into the editing process of the videos is significant. happy Landings, Capt. Guido
Wow, I’ve been watching this in awe...such a calm, focused and yet relaxed pilot even in this crappy weather! Hats off sir, such an inspiration Plus my dream is to have a Cessna to fly my family around so this was perfect 👌🏼
Thank you very much for you kind words and for watching my videos. BTW: gliding is probably the purest for of flying. I had the opportunity to enjoy a flight in a glider with an instructor. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
NIce landing for the conditions, always look forward to your posts.
Landing was ok, we could re-use the aircraft :-) Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
Always like the inserts of controls you are using and the captions of what is being said/done.
Thank you Neal. My aim is to make these videos for a broad range of audience. Happy landings, Capt. Guido
Very professional. I love hearing all those conversation with the ATC.
Thank you! ATC is you friend in flying. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
As always, absolutely fascinating video! Thanks so much for sharing these experiences and giving so much detail on what is happening.

So glad I was here watching with my feet up having a morning coffee and not sweating bullets' flying in those conditions. This guy is calm and obviously very proficient pilot. Wow!
Thank you. The flightless not very pleasant but safe and within the capabilities of aircraft and pilot. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
What a beautiful, smooth landing in such difficult conditions - chapeau bas Sir!
Thank you Igor! Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
Well done Guido, calm and controlled under difficult conditions. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Zachary. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
Another Great video Guido. Thank you for always presenting a great reminder of how to fly smart and professionally, even single pilot. Looked like a lot of "actual" instrument conditions on this flight. Thanks again for your videos!
You are most welcome Kyle. This was not the best day for flying and I would probably not have flown with passengers on board. But is was all safe - that is most important. If there is any ice you must have a way out. If the freezing level is oil the ground or below the moon safe altitude - no bueno. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
Amazing composure, thanks for the video
Guido as always i love watching you work and learn something new every time. I also noticed your SPOT unit... I helped develop that and have patents for parts of that device. When we built it we never really knew that it was going to be such a great tool for aviators. I am very proud to see it there for such a great pilot as yourself. Cheers!
Thank you. Small aviation world. The SPOT tracker provides additional safety and means of communication when airborne. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

I love it: Expedite = "do it faster!". Very good example of IMC flight.
Hi Christopher, ATC uses a special language sometimes. That is the reason I pointed it out. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
@@GuidoWarnecke I know indeed. Everything you pointed out was excellent, especially to excite new aviation enthusiasts. I'm a student pilot, and an ATC interested person, so it made me chuckle in a good way, when you write "do it faster." Fantastic.

Single pilot IFR in a 182! You did such a beautiful job sir, so professional, well done.

Still here... Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
You earned your pay today! Heavy crosswinds on both TO and Landing...really appreciate the professionalism you bring to flying..NO sloppiness or or casual indifference. Every flight is precise and tight. That's how my ex USAF instructor worked me though the instrument flying process. It saved my life because my very FIRST flight with fresh instrument rating was exactly like this flight...turbulence, crosswinds, icing and visibilities so low that I wound going into KLAX and at DH, caught enough runway lighting to duck under and land. With all the other LA basin airport below IFR minimums...wisely decided to stay on the ground until the storm passed the next day.
Interesting story. Flying (IFR aor VFR) is a lot about decision making, and sometimes to say "no". It is better to be on the ground and wishing to be in the air then the other way around. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
I've enjoyed your videos for years and always learn something new. I know it's a lot of work editing the videos but based on viewer comments the videos are greatly appreciated. Please keep them coming.

Thank you. Compared to a Cirrus, the 182 is very easy to fly. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
@@GuidoWarnecke Capt Guido you make them all look easy with your skills👍. Does help with the Cirrus having FLIKI. At least it gives you some more decision making and planing time, and if its only light maybe even play on. Great to see you back posting😁. Cheers, Mark. Melbourne Australia.

Thank you very much for your kind words, Robert. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
Well ,if you feel that you miss anything that Guido did there...do not fly.
@@hectorherbert6585 I don't have a license, but after that takeoff, the old saying "Better be on the ground, wishing you were in the air than being in the air, wishing you were on the ground" came to my mind. Of course, Guido is an excellent (professional) pilot, much better than I could ever aspire to be. That weather, I'd have called it a day, IFR rating or not... (personal limits etc.)

Thank you Ian. I just use the aircraft systems and try do do it as safe as possible. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
If you know your systems and regularly practice, flying in hard IMC that is clear of ice and convection is very safe.

You never fail to impress me with your knowledge of airspace, aircraft, weather, ATC etc. Is it difficult to fly in so many countries in respect to varying rules and regulations?
Thank you Brian. It is sometimes chill aging to adjust to the different rules in different countries. Most of the stuff is standardized, especially when IFR flying. I would be very cautious to fly VFR on an area that I do not know. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
Thank you for sharing this again with us Guido :) Very professional video as usual, excellent pilot as well :) thank you

That weather situation would have made me park and wait lol. Some damn good flying right there
Not much of an option. The weather was safe to fly and the customer was waiting for his aircraft that I ferried all the way from the USA to him. Not sure if I would have done the flight with passengers on board. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
Guido Warnecke umm, some get there itis
@@GuidoWarnecke that is called "get thereitis" a lot of causes of crashes
@@gaguy1967 I value your opinion. In commercial flying you cannot choose your day and the weather. In some occasions you have to do also flights that are not comfortable. A big difference is however to do flights that intentionally will exceed the limits of the aircraft and the pilot. That is something I would never do. As a side note, I appreciate comments under the clear name of the author. Thank you. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
@@gaguy1967 Thousands of flights a day are flown on schedule and with a need to get somewhere, through weather much worse than this. That alone is not the cause of the accident. Get there itis is a slang term for plan continuation bias or when a pilot is determined to reach the destination beyond the limits of pilot / aircraft or not taking into account changes in conditions that result in very dangerous flying. Normally the plane is overloaded with pax and bags, the density altitude is bad, weather marginal etc etc - but you still fly. This is a pilot only flight so aircraft performance should be good. It wasn't clear if there was retrofit anti-ice, but in the face of icing pilot adjusted promptly to descend all the way down to 7,000. A nice glass panel. An experienced pilot who planned with bad weather in mind (seemed to know cross wind limits which can be a gotcha). Riskier? Sure. But it didn't strike me as way out of bounds. When your friends show up with heavy bags and you don't leave them behind because you'd be overweight - THAT is get there itis and VERY easy to have that cause a problem.
I felt that take off with you, beautiful!!!
Thank you! Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

If I was the passenger, right before takeoff, I would have said, "That's OK, I'll just get out here. Please let me out . . . "
This needs to be respected. I have never - and I will never do - make fun of passengers that feel uncomfortable in a small aircraft. Totally normal. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
Why are you flying that junk box into known icing conditions?
Hello, a) a C182 is not a junk box b) there was no known icing in the forecast. You are correct that one should not commence a flight into know icing in a non FIKI certified aircraft. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
