In this little video I take you through my altered book - showing you how I use vintage collage to decorate and make ephemera to store in the many pockets and tucks. This book is based on Natasha's beautiful Altered Book on her inspirational @TreasureBooks channel. #collage #vintagecraft #TrulyVintageEphemera #alteredbooks
So clever! We call that a gator mouth which i love. Sometimes, more is more! ❤❤❤
What a fabulous idea!!!!! Hugs from New Zealand. xx
J'adore votre junk tout à fait mon goût, merci pour cette présentation .
I love the concept of the altered books. As you don’t have to sew the pages back in. So, I’m Just starting a couple here. And looking for some inspiration. Daddy cool, now that’s cool 😂😂 cheers from Newcastle 🇦🇺 and TFS.
A whole new world for me! Thanks!
Warning ⚠️ it's addictive 😃
Yes that was so inspiring to see, you have such talent! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you 😀
I just love all the unusual pockets you made in this old book ❤ So many clever ideas 👌👏🏻🥰 TFS
I've learned that I don't like signatures, so this is a wonderful alternative thank you.
Glad you like it :) I also want to try using a spiral wire binder as an option - I'll share when I do 😀
That is absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your ideas!
Thank you, I'm so glad this book is inspiring others to create . ❤️
That’s really awesome!!
Love this.
Thank you 😊
This is absolutely stunning!!!
What a wonderful altered book, Grace! I love the fact that you didn’t totally cover all of the pages with digital or scrapbook paper. You created some folds I hadn’t seen before. I especially like the pockets you made by cutting the pages horizontally.
Thank you Betty 😀
Just lovely. So many wonderful treasures in this book - both techniques AND ephemera.
Thank you. I really enjoyed making this book and putting it together 😀
Some great ideas for altering here, & Oh, the Enid Blyton ‘Mystery’ series…..that takes me back about 65 years.😀
Beautiful😊
Very beautiful 💖 I love it. Thanks for sharing 🌷
❤ I love it! So many surprises on every page. I plan to start a project using altered books … so thank you for your inspiration!🎉
Grace this idea is brilliant...I made a sample on some scrap paper so I won't forget some of the folds...I love the idea and can't wait to use it...thanks for sharing.

A beautiful example of an altered book. Thank you for sharing Grace. 🌸
Thank you 😊
I just discovered your channel and has subscribed. I love your style. This book is just amazing. I like that you don't use digitales. I am getting away from doing that I never did use very many. I like them more organic journals like joie de fi . Hugs and blessings from New Mexico
Hi. Thanks for your comment. I also don't use digi's very often. I much prefer using original vintage pages and ephemera- hence my channel name :😀. I hope to create more videos shortly.
@@gracekeogh I will be looking forward to it. I'm always scouting out for people who don't use digitales. I've also found a way to make lovely background scrapbook paper
I love this! I’m working on an altered book vintage journal now!
Thanks Kelli 😀 IThis book was certainly fun to create. I hope you've learnt some new techniques ❤️
Wow really nice! Thank you for sharing I got alot of ideas from your video! wow so creative.
Thanks Jessica, glad you liked it. 😀
So interesting and packed with detail! Love that it didn't come from a kit. Lots of original work here, I'm definitely bookmarking this for inspiration! Thank you.
Thank you for your comments. I do love making unique creations -- I've never been one for following someone else's directions 😉
WOW Amazing
Thanks Stella 😊
Your journal is beautiful
Thank you 😊
So many great ideas in one project. Love how you created all those interesting pockets. New subscriber 🤗🤗🤗
Hello and thanks for your lovely comment. Glad to have you on board my creative journey 😀
Love it ,it's been I while since I have altered a book they are so fun to do. Should do another tfs Grace
Yes - I'm on holidays in a week - hopefully I'll get to make another.
❤❤
I am new to your channel and I am very impressed by how you fold your pages 💖 create pockets and tucks ! I absolutely love your idea 💗Tfs blessings from Florida 🙌🌴🌴
Thank you for your kind words. Unfortunately I don't post videos as often as I'd like to. 😀
Hi Grace, thank you for sharing some more beaut ideas on making an "Altered Book", happy to subscribe Hugs Sandra
Thanks for subscribing 😊 Glad you liked it.
I love your altered books! What do you use them for once you’ve completed? I’ve never done one because I wasn’t sure how I’d use, but seeing this, a book/reading journal pops to mind! Thanks for sparking my creativity that has been “dormant” for quite some time now!❤️
Hi. I'm glad I inspired you to work on your one book. I must say I enjoy the process and I don't really "do" anything with them but admire them. You could use it as a journal to write in by including lots of blank journalling tags in the pockets 😀
@@gracekeogh That’s a great idea! Its a lot of work & SUCH a labor of love, I couldn’t imagine not using it for something special!🥰
Thank you for sharing this. It's given me a lot more ideas. I've done one altered book so far and didn't enjoy it as much as sewing signatures in, but after seeing yours, I'm gong to give it another try. I think I tried too much in covering up the writing instead of embracing it. Thank you x
You're welcome. Definitely give it a go - I love embracing the old book and working with it, not over it.
I'm really loving this! From what I understand, you're using the books actual pages? no attached signatures? I might give this a try... would love to see more tutorials on this 🙂❤
I'm just finding your page and altered books. Fabulous idea! Will you be doing any videos on specific pages? You said for a few of the pages with pockets and multiple folds you folded and glued and then cut. Would you be willing to show how some of these are done for a beginner Iike myself to see and learn from? I bought a book and I'm ready to go. Thanks so much.
Hi Lori, thanks for your comment. I like your idea for me to do videos on the individual pages. I'm on holidays in 2 days so I will definitely use my time to put a few together and share them.
Hermoso tu trabajo ❤
muchas gracias ☺️
Hi Grace I loved your altered book ideas and I subscribed to your channel. Do you have any ephemera packs for sale atm? I struggle to find vintage goodies here in Bundaberg
Hi. Thanks for your kind comments. Yes I have vintage page packs and ephemera packs for sale. Contact me via Facebook or email me at gracekeogh1964@outlook.com :) 😀
I saw this same book in another tutorial. You have to give credits to the original creator 😮
Hi, Thanks for your comment. I totally agree. I'm afraid I created this altered book very early in my KZhead days and honestly didn't think anyone was actually watching me. Do you happen to remember who the artist was? I'll gladly update my description. Update... found it., I've edited the description. Thanks again for your comment.
About how many pages did you pull out? About how many did you leave in? You gave me several different page styles, I had not seen before thanks!🤗👏💖🤔
Hi Cindy. Thanks for your comments. This book originally had about 130 pages. The final journal has around 50 pages used to construct the various pockets. I randomly took out 2-4pages at a time. The final book does sit open (I call it a rhinoceros album ...lol) but that's how I like them. Hope that helps 😀
Did she say "every other page"? I have seen and done a couple where you take out about every 5th one. That leave so many pages. I like this technique better.
I think it is best to remove about two-thirds of the book. I first saw this on Natasha's channel from Treasure Books. She explains in a video which pages she removes. I love the way you have done yours though Grace. It is beautifully decorated.
I dislike "hippo books" but love your creativity with what you've done inside. Thanks for sharing 👍😁
Is this book for sale grace ?
I hadn't actually thought to sell it tbh.
@@gracekeogh if you do want to sell it please let me know
@@joycecorsi3896 Will do. Can you email me at gracekeogh1964@outlook.com so we can discuss further please :)
