  • I was a consultantant for an Aussie scrapbooking company here and have now acquired so much of over time that I have to justify , do I need this 😂😂😂 or do I want it.. so you are so correct , you can start out with minimum supplies when junk journaling. I do this craft for the fun of it . And yes the hunt is grand. I love the op shops. We also have a community centre that gives away books.with the option of donating a gold coin or more if you can. This has been great watching. We learn something new each day. Happy paper crafting. 💜🙏💜🙏💜🙏

I thought that I should really go back to number one and follow the parts through!!! So here I am .... watched Part 1!!! So now to Part 2!!! I have always had it in my mind to do an altered book.... but there has always been other projects that took my interest first!!! So I am going to watch your series and then I will pull together the bits and pieces I want to make one. Thank you Kylie.... you are certainly giving me heaps of inspiration of recent weeks!!! First the little journals out of paper pads..... then the journals from 12x12 papers..... and now...... ALTERED BOOKS!!! Yaaaaayyyyyy!!!! And it will certainly help me use up my stash!!! Love....love...love!!!

  • Hey Kylie...Love watching your videos and want to follow along with this series. I've ordered a set of three vintage Reader's Digest condensed books from a seller on Etsy with purple covers (my favorite color) and I hope they have the signatures in them. This is the third time I've watched this episode and realize you mentioned the 50's and 60's book editions. Mine aren't that old so I hope they do have signatures. Anyway, I am trying hard to see how many pages you leave in each signature. It looks like you are only leaving the outer sheet of two pages in each. Is that correct? or are you leaving two sets? I figure about 10% are left when you are done but I just want to check before I start removing pages. Thanks for showing us how to do this step by step. It really makes all the difference for those of us who are new to this. I started to alter a book years ago and it was going well but I hated glueing the pages together. Now, I think I will revisit that book and start removing the pages as you are doing. But for now I want to do the bigger Reader's Digest one. I appreciate and enjoy watching your vids and can't wait for my books to get here.

Oh please do show the purple one you are working on. I really like your approach to journaling. Lots of tidbits and found scraps, using the digital stuff more as collage pieces, cards more so than the whole page printed. I think they look more authentically "junked" when they are made that way. Thanks again for your help abnd your lessons. Can't wait to start!

I’ve been thinking about your question regarding the holes in your journal, I don’t use eyelets that much but they do come with different lengths in the shanks ( not certain how easy they are to find) maybe some that are made for leather work? Otherwise the only other thing I can think of is hand sewing in a loop stitch where you’ve punched the hole, so that you make like a buttonhole, which will give it stability and it won’t want to tear. • I'm debating how many pages to remove from a book that I'm getting ready to start altering and am curious if you've used books as old as from the 1930s? The book feels pretty solid but the paper may not hold up if I leave only one sheet from each signature in the book. I'm thinking of leaving two sheets from each signature and gluing them together and going from there. I plan to make flips or fold-outs like you do. Thoughts?

    @roseinthepines@roseinthepines4 ай бұрын
    • Hi, sorry I didn’t get back to you straight away. Some books have better pages than others no matter how old they are I’ve found, but yes if you’re at all concerned about your pages I would definitely adhere two together ( if nothing else it gives you peace of mind) it won’t detract from the look of your book at all, the only thing that you’ll need to be mindful of is air bubbles, so make sure you really press down when gluing. Hope this helps

    • Hi Amy, sorry for not getting back to you earlier. The last pages in signatures are glued, as we are taking the rest out only the glued ones remain. Hope that helps

    • Sorry you feel that way, I have always talked with my hands. After running papercraft classes for almost 20 years it’s hard to not remember that everyone is not sitting in front of me 😁
