The clown tattoo here in Brazil is pretty accurate. If the police officers notice you have tattoos, they’ll ask you to show them all. Some they will ignore, some they will ask the meaning and if they spot a clown they will start an intense “interrogation” in the middle of the street, if that’s the case. But if you are oblivious about the meaning and they acknowledge that, they’ll will make fun of you, explain the real meaning, register you and ask you to cover it up as soon as possible.
Another thing, as I said before, you are registered that you have a clown tattoo. If you get pulled the second time and you still have the clown tattoo, they will take you as you disrespected a public officer. That’s against the law here.
Do you think they interrogate them as much if it's tourists? I wonder how some of these country or region specific meanings get viewed if a foreigner is seen with whatever kind of tattoo it is. Like for me if I see someone from another country doing something that might have a strange or negative connotation where i'm from i'll usually just assume it's a difference in what's normal for them vs me.
I have clown from Slipknot , the metal band , tattooed… I also have all the members of the band - it’s a sleeve tattoo.. but the clown mask really stands out…. So I have to cover it up if I ever visit Brasil , right?
@@allosanthrwpos542 not necessarily, guys. If you are a foreigner, they won’t even ask you about the clown tattoo. They are aware that in foreign countries, that’s not the case. So, just tell them in English or Spanish that(other languages it can be hard to find an officer who speaks them, but English and Spanish most of them do) you are just visiting Brazil and they will just check your background and that’s that. This clown thing is mostly for Brazilian people.

My dad owns a tattoo shop and sometimes we help by filling out the forms when people do walk-ins if the tattoo is related to a gang then we refuse to do it. We do this because some tattoo shops have wrongly been affiliated with motorcycle gangs like the Hell's Angels and other gangs have burned those tattoo shops down so we don't mess with that.

Here in Brazil, the Tears ones have 2 meanings to Police and Crime association people. If its not totally inked up, just the trace, it says that someone killed one of your friends or loved ones. If its all inked up, full, it also says you killed the person who did that.

I don’t know when tear drop actually meant you were a murderer. However in my lifetime I’ve seen way too many tear drop tattoos on people who definitely aren’t murderers. It’s also used to signify the loss of a loved one.
You didn't mention the Yakuza. Tattoos are still frowned upon in Japan and will stop you from sharing the public baths, though I hear things are slowly changing.
I was a prison guard at folsom when I was younger and this kid came on the yard with a tat that simply was "AFFA" (angels forever forever angels) on his knuckles and the hells angels found out he wasn't one of them and they chopped his hand off in the machine shop..

I didn't exactly get a tattoo, but I added two hearts on my face using an eyeliner (basically the ones E-Girls have, but blue), and my mum ended up saying that it's a gang sign (she basically said that E-Girls are criminals and wouldn't listen to anything that proves otherwise). Btw I did my research, and it turned out criminals do sometimes use heart tattoos, but their ones are broken hearts, so there is clearly a difference.
My grandpa was part of hells angels and i remember he would always tell me to stay away from people with “his tattoo”

Good to know that the only tattoos that might get me in trouble are my nautical stars - which actually do have a hidden meaning, but not the kind you'd think. One is brown and yellow and the other is red and blue - Earth, Air, fire, and water. They're on my shoulderblades and usually my clothes hide them, so I should be safe.
Everyone and their brother has "nautical star" tattoos, absolutely nobody would think you're trying to represent yourself as a Russian convict/ gang member, especially with your 4 different colors. You have absolutely nothing to worry about, nobody has the right to be the "tattoo police". Your tattoos are your own and you don't have to justify them to anyone.
The last tattoo that was on the list (the Hell's Angels) was also similarly designed on a beer company. I have not seen any of their beer on the market since 2018. And I also forgot the name of the company, the best detailed description I can say they make different designs/colors on each beer flavor. I New York there was these two buildings. One was a motorcycle gang, and another was a apartment building... they both had the hell's angels logo exact copy.

I thought to be part of the gang, you need a certain style of tattoo not just any tattoo.
A I M in japan it used to be that only gang members got any tattoos at all, so any tattoos on a person were a definitive sign of a criminal. and I don't think they used logos or gang insignia, but rather they covered large parts of their bodies with pictures that probably symbolized who the individual was/wanted to be seen as. it's more of a western thing that gang affiliation and criminal professions are indicated by specific tattoos.
I got a tattoo on my right arm in Japanese characters saying "Meiyo" (Kanji) which means Honor/Prestige. Then I had a Ying yang catfish surrounding it so it could represent Honor/Balance. I used to be in the military and every morning we have to solute to the flag to honor our fallen brothers and sister along with those out there still fighting out there for our country. Unfortunately I didn't get to serve the 20 years I wanted to but at least I made the 1% and made a difference to my country. I still solute with that in mind. Being in the military meant a lot to me.

Maybe try something like a cat paw to honor your cat
you could stamp paw prints from your cat on paper with some non-toxic ink/paint and eventually design a tattoo with one or all of them. you could also try to take a 3D print of a paw with some kind of wax or clay to make a cast for a keychain, but that would probably be kinda hard to do well and the cat would hate it.

I have 3 dots and have had them for years. I was molested by 3 family members I'm Missouri . Then sent to California to be with my mom and was kidnapped and brutally raped for over 14 days and left for dead.( got pregnant from it and gave him up for adoption ( i don't believe in abortion) So the meaning of the 3 dots for me is about surviving my crazy life!!! They represent the fact that I got kidnapped by a strange man and raped, me( being a male) was so scared as I have always been really shy. I was saved after 3 years, by my husband. So, though I’m not affiliated in any gang I have lived a somewhat “crazy” life thus far. 3/4years ago when I was in military school, a friend and fellow cadet taught me how to do tattoos with guitar strings and India ink, and in all I have up with 8 different sets of the 3 dot “mi vida loca” mixed into some of my tattoos. It’s for no gang reason whatsoever and I actually learned of the meaning some time later. I don’t regret them by any means, and they’ve never brought trouble my way - can’t speak for everyone I know, just figured I’d share something related (:

Don't know if this counts but my mom has a butterfly tattoo with my grandma's name and birthday to death date on the wing on her left shoulder. It was her way of remembering her. When my grandmother died my mom got this tattoo so as to always remember her mother.

I'm 41. I'm glad I did. Hell so many people got tats now especially in my area, u actually get more attention for NOT having tattoos. Unfortunately I have quite a few deep scars. My cousin has the three dots tattoo on his hand. He explained it was from when he was doing time. Haven't seen him in a couple of years, so his status is unknown. That's the only reason why I know about the three dots. All I was told it was a part of a gang and I didn't inquire any further. 😮 I don't think my Sailor Moon themed tattoos is gonna cause any problems or the semicolon behind behind my left ear indicates that I'm a sufferer of depression and continuing to battle it.

Got a little story to tell. One of my friends dad has affiliation with the hells angels. So my friends cousin got shot in the head one day by a gang member and died. The gang that killed her put a hit out of my friends family and they needed protection, so his dad had hell’s angels members and blood gang members at his house for protection. Nobody came by and did anything but they moved away from that area shortly after.

I have a tat with wings , a skull wearing a baret with a lightning bolt in the middle. Got it when I was 18. Tattoo artist didn't tell me it was 101st US Army . I wasn't in the military. Asked a friend that was in the military about it. He said there are some that will cut it off . Ever since I found out what it is I keep it covered at all times except showering etc. Been 30+ years. I don't steal valor.

Planning on getting a small cancer ribon tattooed a little under my shoulder blade were I have a surgery scar! Maybe not ON it but next to it.
And I was thinking of getting star tattoos on both my shoulders, kinda like those that Shifty from Crazy Town has, it meant shoot for the stars for me, but now I'll rather just steer clear of them.

He is a distant relative of mine through Mom's DNA Haplogroup. He was frozen for 5300 years and is still in a freezer in a museum in Italy.

the dream catcher tattoo is from the "posse" or known as "the Indian Posse" gang in canada. people treat you different when you have tattoos specially on the neck or face. I have two large dragons on my neck that go down my chest, most assume i just got out of prison or i am in gang. some people are pretty silly some move away if i sit beside them or they gonna sit down and think um no i am gonna move over there, and most don't want to make eye contact. Some weirdo's think they have something to prove and hassle me which i completely ignore them at this point lol. This would brother most people... but i think to myself ooo more leg room. Here i am a nice guy with kids, a family.

I thought about getting a tattoo several times, I even went to tattoo parlor to look at the flash art. As I look at all the designs, I think "do I want this on my body 10-20 years from now", when I can't answer yes, I turn around and leave. I guess I won't be getting any tattoos either.
In an attempt to distinguish themselves, they end up alike. No tattoos here because of that reason. I'd rather remain unique.

This just reminded me of this cool guy I knew from Amazon, he had a dream catcher tattoo on the side of his head down to his neck, he had no hair Im pretty sure he had a face tat, but he did had a dermal implant for a gem to be in his cheek
I don't have any of those but I'm considering getting a tattoo and I want one the is three hearts in a triangle because it seemed so cute to think about and I might look into it before getting it

Wow! The things you learn on the internet. I got a tattoo in the mid 90s that started off as just a lady bug on a leaf, under my ear. I wasn't satisfied with just that, so I added more leaves, with two cherries hanging off one of the leaves, now going down side of my neck, and then I put a mid sized blue spiderweb overtop of the entire thing. Yes, a spiderweb. I don't even have a criminal record, let alone doing time in prison. Good thing I have long hair and no one ever sees it anyway. lol! kinda defeats the purpose, but whatever.
Location of the spiderweb matters. Pretty sure you're good.
