I was literally about to comment I love this editor, amazing story telling
Yeh true
thank you ive been trying hard to keep it tight
I feel like that last burger is just one of those things that's more about featuring super expensive ingredients than actually making a cohesive dish
Absolutely, I got a bit disgusted at the waste of good ingredients to be honest. Especially truffles need a more subtle background or their flavor gets overwhelmed.
Exactly so much of the flavour would be lost in it. It's just oppulence for the sake of oppulence.
Not even a clean kitchen...
@@Jeremy-jj4nj yeah, all those bold flavors just bump into each other.
@@RNS_Aurelius at least there's no gold on it.

Reminds me of Diners, Drive-ins & Dives. This channel happens to be way wild because you go around the world and we see horrific cuisines too. Insane!
The duck burgers stole the show. Will definitely try them when next time in Paris. The amount of blue cheese in a McDonalds burger was surely a pleasant sight. As for the most expensive one, as Sonny said, too much happening in one burger - extravaganza doesn’t always guarantee the best results.
Agree I have seen real gold flake, foie gras etc put into food just to make it expensive , just silly IMO, I rather have a nice duck burger
I agree 💯 %. It’s more important to find the balance between few ingredients then having too many ingredients driving your palate crazy

Hey. Just a heads up guys. I'm on holiday in Paris, I went to Canard St for lunch at 2.30. Closed with a sign on the door saying come back at 7 pm. So we did at 7.20, they opened the door and asked us to come back in ten mins. So we did. We bought both these burgers shown above. They did not look anything like what's advertised here. Half the amount of meat as seen here and barely any chips, which were cold. The burgers tasted good but not at all worth the price. Maybe we were very unlucky and got them on a bad day but overall, a very, very poor experience.
Interesting
I've watched several of your videos and had to subscribe. I'll probably never get to eat 99% of these foods but I enjoy watching your reactions to the taste, texture etc.

When I heard the price I thought for sure he was gonna add some gold shavings lol

Did you get smashed on the head? You're crazy if you think that's a reasonable price. There are fantastic steak dinners for half the price.
The actual burger patties though, they looked terrible
@Clarissa 1986 "Premium ingredients"? 🤣🤣🤣No ingredients should cause a burger to cost that much, you obviously don't know anything about cooking a meal. Clearly you got smashed on the head if you believe that burger is worth that price.
nobody talking about how the side of fries at the second locations could be a meal itself? giant amount of fries

Really a nice vidéo ) As a French living in Vietnam I totally join you about ducks. In this vidéo, we can see remarquable products like "the fourme d'Ambert", cheapest blue cheese, not agressive, very creamy when it's melting perfect for pasta or pizza. The Brie and St Nectaire are also 2 great cheeses for burgers, St Nectaire is more pronounce so it add a value. No more Camembert for cooking, always choose the Brie, much sweeter on your mouth and one last thing, foie gras sauce is exceptionnal to add to a great steak, it's already very rich and creamy, that will impress your guests for sure

That duck burger looked so good. Really like the idea of both types of duck. Really nice quality cheese. And that sesame bun looked like a perfect burger bun. That smash burger looked interesting. The patty itself looked really good, nice char on it very even. Sure its got a lot of gimmick ingredients but I think a regular burger from them would be very good too.

Did you see how thick he sliced the truffles? Thats not an ingredient you can just carelessly throw on in thick slices. This was way too much and must have completely overtaken every other ingredient. Making a burger with truffles is not easy because you have to balance this ingredient very well with the other stuff. No problem with the saffron, looked good. Also why take a super expensive dry aged beef and then fry it crispy to simulate bacon. If you put something like this on there just put it on the burger as it is.
I’m always curious about McDonald’s in different countries for sure but the smash in burger just looked amazing…

You can't appreciate French cuisine until you eat there. I've only been once and although I didn't eat a burger, I ate the blood sausage and snails. My folks were raised in Scotland, so blood in food is normal for me but they took it to a new level. The escargot was surprisingly excellent too.

The last burger I think suffered from being a one off. I'd imagine if it was to go on a menu he'd work out which ingredients work best together to stop the flavours all competing so much.

The duck burger looked awesome. The last seemed to be to smashed, even with 2 patties was still too thin, with all those toppings. Another great video though as always. Thanks sonny and team.
agreed. i love smash burgers but the last burger definitely had way too flat of patties, especially for the price point. even before it was cooked it only looks around 4oz of meat, if even that
As a French American living in Minnesota, I love this brother. I left my father in Paris years ago to rest before we had our daughter and would love to bring her to visit him soon, even though I illegally left him in the River Seine at the Eiffel Tower base, don't tell anyone. I will hit that Duck burger place as it must be in my genes as I love Duck. Love your show, and proud you're from our state visiting my family's homeland!
you deserve to be in Netflix
I love your sense of humour😂😂😂
Love the video as usual Sonny. It is always great to see a clash of cultures, and I gotta say when I think of fast rubbish food, with nothing special except volume, I think America. The opposite is true with French Food. That's exotic ingredients, quality grown and made with love - usually, and as you have accurately pointed out, like the Canard Burger. I feel that although the Smash was made with quality ingredients, it had too much America. As the Canard Chef pointed out, the French love salad and so do we in Australia, and there was nothing on the Smash Burger. The duck deserved the win for being French, exotic and tasty - and a reasonable price. Cheers mate, I continue to love the content.
'Exotic ingredients' Yeah, that isn't French food at all. French concentrate on local ingredients primarily
@@sneer0101 true, maybe I should have said fresh and natural, locally sourced and grown - tho caviar, truffle and foie gras isn't that common place on my menu. 😉
That super expensive burger looked absolutely delicious but I definitely wouldn't pay the price. Those duck burgers, I would try for sure mmmmm.😋😋😋 Thanks for doing this Sonny, really enjoyed this.
You would if you could afford it I betcha! (So would I.)
@@notmyworld44 Foie gras is so cheap in France that you can had it....even with truffles..... even with safran..... that price is really too high for what he put on it.... cheers from France....!
@@crazyjackfr it is not on the menu it is just the most expensive things he has into one for Sonny. He mentions that his normal burgers are 10-15 euro. I think because of the saffron and cured meat and cheese it adds up. Still veery expensive
I would live in France just for the cheese, butter, bread and salad. That is essentially my diet with some chicken and more fruit and vegetables so food wise I'd be happy. I've even to France, other European countries, Canada, America, Fiji and Australia which I am lucky to of done since I live in the middle of the ocean here in New Zealand. France is up there but Italy was also amazing.
That expensive burger actually looks reallyo good. I love brie, black truffles, foie gras, saffron and what looks like bresaola...it actually looks like a really good combination of flavor. That duck breast looked like my favorite as well though. I love duck, its such an underappreciated meat in much of the world. But seared duck breast, duck penang, chinese roast duck on rice, so many delicious dishes. But yeah I agree with McDonalds calling them sandwiches. To me a burger is minced meat, and a lot of their menu are vegetarian and chicken breast. While a burger is a sandwich a sandwich necessarily a burger, so sorry Sonny I take their side on the naming 😅
That last burger looked amazing, I do like vegetables on my burgers though, so it was sort of skimp in that regard. I'm not surprised you chose the duck burger, something about the bitterness and flavor of duck is appealing. Like all those ingredients on the last burger probably didn't even compete with the taste of the duck one alone. Also, I can't stand Mcdonald's Burgers, like they're great, but I wish they used more than 1 tsp of sauce/vegetables, they need to be made with more love lol
Last burger does not look like $120 at all though. The second one looks better in presentation and in terms of unique flavor and also French taste to it
Yeah man, I'd still be wanting a gherkin and tommy K on that bad boy
the last burger was some guy asking himself how he could turn a cheap burger into an expensive burger by adding random expensive ingredients. The quality of the meat for supposedly a high-end burger was laughable. A good quality burger patty would be a rough grind where there would be significant fat and juice to the meat. The meat there was dry like paper and he had to rely on mayo and sauce to add the fat
