  • I flew across Australia from Perth to see this show. I started listening to his lectures for my high school psychology class 5 years ago and fell in love with all his work. I watched him blow up on social media to the point where he was doing live interviews all the time. I didn’t know the bloke but I was so happy he was getting the recognition I thought he deserved. My dad hasn’t been around for much of my life so I looked up Jordan as a father figure. Anyways the night of the talk, whilst my ex girlfriend and I were waiting outside the venue, Jordan came outside and made his way through the line introducing himself to some of us waiting. At this point I was fanboying out, half hoping he wouldn’t speak to me just to avoid embarrassing myself (I was very nervous). He came up to me and shook my hand and it was one of the best moments of my life. Idk maybe that’s sad but this is someone I’d been following for a long time and had never even imagine meeting. Anyway that’s my anecdote, I think Jordan’s a great man and an inspiration to many of us, god bless him.

    • It is not something small thats awesome to think he will go down in history as one of the best philosophers and psychologist. And for you to shake his hand, think hes our modern day Jesus Christ. His views and love for people and finding light in darkness. Amazing. Now we the people have to slread his word which is the word kf millions of humans who cane before us. They showed us how not to live by living it.

  • Jordan Peterson saved this octopus' life: * Pulled out of a deepening depression. * Taught what it is to lead a good life with meaning. * Motivated to set goals. * Showed how to craft the tools needed to achieve set goals. * Explained a pragmatic portion of the psychological world like how to navigate it to avoid pitfalls and create advantages. * Provided an analysis of the psychology of belief and meaning. * Laid down "The Rules" as an antidote to chaos. > 1000 days to turn a life around in ways previously thought impossible. Thank you, Dr. Jordan Peterson.

  • Man, I love listening to Jordan Petersons wisdom. I never had a Father In my life, and every father figure I had passed at an early age due to accidents or life complications. I was a chaotic mess in every sense of the phrase. I started listening to him about 5-6 years ago and it changed my life for better. I was a drug riddled mess with no direction, I had no ambition and map. But using his wisdom and the very obvious "finding the heaviest thing and lift it/ find and take a responsibility" in combination with his encouragement, took me off the path of self destruction. When he passes, I will cry like losing a father, or atleast what I believe losing a father would feel like.

    • Don't you think all your developments are a bit superficial and materialistic? In my experience achievements and structure only gloss over our problems and when we truly experience a tragedy or hardship it turns out all our problems are still there. I would gently suggest this is precisely what happen to Mr Peterson, our goals, achievements etc only generally provide a distraction from our problems it does not solve them. He talks about meaning but meaning is very very rare and since we are all looking desperately for it we are easily convinced something superficial has meaning when in actual fact it's a façade. I think his rules and his philosophy are weak but we all by them because we wish they were true but the road to true maturity is extremely dark and it starts with the truth and that is the last thing we ever want to hear- the truth is we are powerless, helpless and impotent and fall into the same behaviour patterns and mood for our whole life. JPB is selling the illusion of self empowerment which is possible but only when we confront our impotence to the degree of magnitude is exists. I would say this last thing you mention a few things going well in your life which is great however the test comes when everything goes wrong, then and only then will the foundation of your ideas be tested. Good luck.

    • @@unclekerr4369 You seem like a semi-intelligent person judging by your grammar, so believe me when I say... You don't have the faintest idea what you're talking about. As someone who is high in negative emotion and spent too much time at the "bottom rung" of the hierarchy described here, what Jordan Peterson articulates here is pretty much %100 spot on. We need that positive emotion to will us forward in order to want to do things. It's like what he said about music, 6 years ago, for no real reason I just stopped listening to music. I don't own any music device and the only music I would hear was the radio in the car, and even then I would usually turn it off - no one should have to feel this way, where your soul is so dead that not even music can stir it. The person here is commenting that Jordan Peterson was able to help them find their way to some positive emotion that willed him forward down a path that led to a dream of being a photographer and actually being more than he was before. So tell me, what is superficial and materialistic about feeling less dead inside & more accomplished

    • @@DarkWandererAU Fully dyslexic not sure about intelligent. In order for for us to have a disagreement we would have to make sure we are working with the same information which is extremely rare and difficult. My main point is that Jordan's ideas ultimately let him down when he needed them the most therefore I consider them to be flawed and superficial. I don't doubt that with his ideas it is possible to improve your life with his rules etc but not for a person to become whole and complete and able to deal with the the massive problems and suffering that we are all ultimately headed toward I.e death. I say nothing about him as a man nor his motives and intentions but I do say his philosophy failed him and it will fail anyone else, when life puts us under pressure we find out the truth. Good luck one and all.

      @DarkWandererAU@DarkWandererAU3 жыл бұрын
    • @@DarkWandererAU I have to? I didn't know you wanted me to do that until now and now that I do I will. This is the core problem that we humans conduct our analysis based upon assumption that we refuse to test, Jordan's evaluation of the advice he was give with regards to taking benzodiazepines was evidently extremely superficial as even a cursory glance tells you that there is a massive problem with these drug as he has now testified to. So first we and he must question his decision making. This is not a criticism as life puts us all in extremely difficult situations and we generally all want to believe that"an expert" has the answer that will heal us. For many Jordan is that expert so the question is do his rules lead people to becoming complete? This is the core question and I believe the answer is a resounding NO and Jordan himself is evidence of that, he has long spoke of his struggle with depression and ultimately during his success the problem was simply lurking under the surface and then when life test us our problems as still there. I believe that his ideas are extremely good for the management of mental illness but failed to cure it. I also believe that the people who are charged with the treatment of mental illness have given up on curing it and have settled in on the assumption that it can only be managed and as such I think they are not the people who should be leading us. The people who should be leading us are people who have found a way to heal themselves and therefore can help us. We buy into Jordan's ideas for one reason - we want them to be true as a path to healing. I don't believe this to be evident and to be clear I DO see them as useful as medicine but DON'T see them as useful for HEALING and this is the crucial distinction at the core of my statement.

  • This simple, honorable man. Respectful and thoughtful, full of insight and compassion. Pure inspiration. Let's rise up like the tide of human decency that Jordan Peterson's living legacy demands. Let us bear the sacred responsibility of bringing forth a golden age of truthfulness, personal integrity, and love of family, community, and world. My room is clean. Let's begin.
