@@HiKpopNews Ditto. I'm 65. When I saw Mic Drop I said "The Beatles have landed. The musical world just shifted on its axis." and noted the date: 11/24/17. Young fans often dislike the Beatles comparison but us old folks know it's a big compliment. I think they forget we've been listening to pop, rock, r&b and hip hop for a lot longer than many of them have been alive. Btw, Black Pink is much more popular internationally but imo Mamamoo is the female equivalent to BTS because of the parallels in their world-class talent, creative involvement in their music, musical diversity, and similar stories of coming from tiny companies. I'd be interested to see what your family thinks of them, esp the older folks' reaction to Mamamoo's remake of Tom Jones' song Delilah. 😂

It think everyone that starts listening without any preconceptions is like this, but there are too many different stereotypes going around, like this is teenage-girls-only music and as such inherently bad, etc, that many people have engraved in their brains and it changes their perspective on them.
Nemia Nemia ohh youre right , povs spread to other povs. Most of the family didn’t hear about bts, so seeing how acceptive the owners of this acc were the family accepted their pov and made it their own too. I didn’t think about that.

I'm 51, retired Air Force and thanks to my 13 year old daughter, I'm now a fan that has seen BTS 3 times and going to see them in Vegas at the Billboard Awards then hopefully The Rose Bowl again!

I agree with Suga when he said that listening without prejudice will make a convert of any music lover. I'm loving these comments about the family being open-minded and recognizing how BTS and their music surpass all kinds of barriers. It did make me very sad every time they said they were frightened by hoodies, though. Those are the kinds of sentences that drop out of your subconscious with all innocence, but can teach you a lot about your own preconceptions and views if you are mindful and honest with yourself when you take some time to think about what you believe and why.

I typically don't enjoy reaction videos with multiple people but this one was an exception! Everyone were focused on the video and were open minded and were focuses enough to take note and comment on things. Will love to see them react to their discography and the different genres they play with. Enjoyed Chad and Brandon's little comments as well. Definitely going to check out more vids of theirs.
I really loved your family's reactions. They were so open-minded, not going in with preconceived notions. They also didn't spend the whole time going "I don't know what they're saying" which can get tiresome because when you're listening to another culture's music whose language you're unfamiliar, OBVIOUSLY you're not going to understand what's being said, so there's no need to point that out every 5 minutes. And I LOVED your dad - he got into it, dancing, grooving, making a lie of the stereotype that only teenage girls love kpop. And he totally got BTS, and why they're as popular as they are, all within seconds of watching the music video. You should definitely show them the different sides of BTS - my new ARMY playlist is always Mic Drop, Fake Love, DNA, Blood, Sweat, and Tears, Idol, and Boy With Luv, to show a range of their abilities with different genres. Then move on to sub units, with Ddaeng and House Of Cards. Then their solo works, with Joke, Epiphany, Agust D, Daydream, Serendipity, Singularity, and Euphoria. I feel after all those, a person has a good enough idea of what is BTS musically. ^^

Your father hit it on the nail about BTS. Even if you don’t know what they are saying you get it. Music transcends all language barriers. They are all multi-talented, but what is more important than anything is that in every piece of their music that they put out, there is a message they are trying to convey to their listeners. They sing about social injustice. They sing about mental issues and so many pertinent issues that we deal with within society. Please look into their messages in their music if you haven't. It is part of the reasons BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) is loved by millions.

@@HiKpopNews RM was inspired by then President Barack Obama 2016, White House Correspondent's Dinner, Obama dropped the Mic after his speech..Dropping the Mic is a Symbol of Confidence, Hope & Swag...BTS was getting a lot of haters saying they will not make it...especially RM, they mocked his looks, that he does not fit the appearance of being a Idol...In Mic Drop they are flexing, bragging to the haters, that they are World Wide, Multiple Trophies, Billboard etc.. I enjoy the positive messages from BTS songs..
@@HiKpopNews I'd have thought you have the eng cc on and would understand the lyrics. Basically it's roasting/dissing their really toxic haters and detractors after they became really big. The general feel in S Korea is Kpop is not to be taken seriously and what more these guys are from a small agency, not the big 3 agencies which have clout in the kpop industry.

I had zero interest in kpop (even if I was interested in east asian cultures) but it was exactly THIS MV that sucked me into the "vortex" and now I've been a fan for over two years, flew abroad to see them, and spent half a year in Korea 💜 I thank them every day for giving me so much from their music to their words and to the friends I've made just because I watched one mv! music transcends borders just as RM says!
I watch Mic Drop almost everyday, but seeing your family react to this makes me want to watch the mv again. Truly one of their coolest music videos ever.
