    • The only advantage I see over an airboat is that it can get under low clearance areas were as the height of an airboat might not fit.

    • This hull would have a hell of a lot more directional stability in clear water, and in any kind of seas, than an airboat. Try cornering at speed, in a chop, in an airboat. In fact, just try _using_ an airboat in anything more than a few inches of waves. They pound like crazy, and are very inefficient. There's a reason why flat-bottomed hulls aren't used on *any* watercraft other than houseboats and airboats: they suck in anything other than calm water.

  • I've had a 200 hp gasoline powered on since 2006 it looks like pretty much the same thing. The closed loop cooling would be a plus but I've never clogged mine as the impeller that drives the boat is the water pump but a closed loop never has to be back flushed.

  • there wasn't enough about the unit that makes this boat get through tough conditions... one quick shot of the prop and drive unit..... looks pretty much like a hundred other OD green metal boats and the unique prop system was pretty much overlooked or purposely kept from the viewers.

    • Be top secret. I think it just has two counter rotating props made out of a very high quality steel, hardened and heat treated ,with massive power so the props cannot get jammed up.

    • The prop is above the bottom of hull how exactly would it hit the manatee? Plus if I remember correctly the boat now runs a jet drive.

  • Replace a motor in one of those while in the military (Ft Polk Louisiana) never got to see what it could do in water but I see why they wanted to remain motor in a Vietnam boat. Bad ass

  • Hey, a Hot boat to get to The Great Crappie Fishing spots. This is the modern version of the long tail boats seen in Southern Asia. Those props can and do chop a lot of vegetation when underway.
