Mr. Robot is an American drama thriller television series created by Sam Esmail for USA Network. It stars Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson, a cybersecurity engineer and hacker with social anxiety disorder and clinical depression. Elliot is recruited by an insurrectionary anarchist known as "Mr. Robot", played by Christian Slater, to join a group of hacktivists called "fsociety".[8] The group aims to destroy all debt records by encrypting the financial data of E Corp, the largest conglomerate in the world.

    • I disliked season 4 compared to the other 3, because it was too much plot twists too sudden that didn't need to happen. Why was Angela CEO's daughter? Why was the backstory of Elliot hating his dad suddenly change when even before the reasons were just as good? I understand there was a 5th season, and with 4th and 5th the plot twists would've been made more sound, but what we got was a bit unfortunate.

  • I'd like to make an observation about the show's critique: it's *always* about plot. I think it just goes to show that this type of audience miss the point of the show. As Sam says himself, in years to come you don't remember the exact story, but you will always remember the characters and how they made you feel, whether it was empathy, sympathy, love, rage, disgust. When people ask why I loved this series so much, I tell them it's because it's so god damn visceral. I *feel* this tv show. At the end of the day, for me it wasn't important to me because of devices (like twists) or plot (anything related to the hack), it was about rejection and alienation. I haven't watched Mr Robot since the finale, and seeing the characters' faces here just brought back a flood of emotions and I felt like crying watching this video. Fucking beautiful tv show.

      @adoormarkedpirate378@adoormarkedpirate3784 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah but Esmail gave a lot of attention to the plot and then abandoned a bunch of scenario's he set up. You can't just overlook that by saying the characters make up for it. He also talks about always trying to have something to say in his scenes. If he doesn't deliver on his points then he isn't doing a good job. S2 of this show was a whole lot of nonsense with very little points of interest. S3 not much better, and S4 was good, but left major motivations up in the air when it could've been done neater. Not to mention Esmail leans on killing off characters far too often. The main strength of the show is Elliot and Darlene, along with Mr. Robot. They carry this show, and it's shame Esmail couldn't keep the same intrigue and decisive plot choices he made in S1, which is easily the best season of the show.

    • How is the plot not a masterpiece? All the other pretentious, overly complex Mary Sue plot BS utterly sucks. Humans don't think that way. We see the world through eliots eyes. it's his view of the world. He isn't a politician, he isn't a banker - in some ways he's the average joe, but he's heavily depressed and taking tons of uppers. He's way more relatable than of those other shallow b1tches and d0ucherbags we see in these kinds of shows. There's tons of doomers and people suffering depression. A little representation, getting away from the unrealistic nihilistic douchebag with his gary stu million dollar business (which would instantly fail in the real world) F-ing all those shallow Wh0res while doing cocaine. It's pure cringe at this point. Mr. Robot is a lot like anime and unlike any western series. It has character driven by his emotions, fighting for what he thinks is right. No, the shallow black and white marvel BS doesn't count a damn. Mr. Robot is all what western series fail to be. A man with a goal, that isn't money or getting corrupted by money. It's almost like the hollywood propaganda elite doesn't want to portray strong independant men with their own radical goals, which are neither good or bad. Just like the joker - there's a reason dark knight 2 was people's favorite and by god it clearly wasn't batman.

  • "What if changing the world was just about being here, by showing up no matter how many times we get told we don't belong, by staying true even when we're shamed into being false, by believing in ourselves even when we're told we're too different? And if we all held on to that, if we refuse to budge and fall in line, if we stood our ground for long enough, just maybe The world can't help but change around us. Even though we'll be gone, it's like Mr. Robot said. We'll always be a part of Elliot Alderson. And we'll be the best part, because we're the part that always showed up. We're the part that stayed. We're the part that changed him. And who wouldn't be proud of that?" This is the most important part of the last season

This series and a few others like breaking bad doesn’t fit in those graphs but this particular series stood out because it was never intended to be one in the first place. Yet with that said there was never a dull moment with each episodes hinting and connecting the audience with the ending without us realising

It’s a good season for me because I really enjoyed the power dynamic between elliot and mr robot fighting for control and ultimately by the end we know it’s a fixed stalemate. I can even say after seeing the finale it makes this narrative even better. Sure elliot spends majority of the season doing nothing and gets himself distracted but in real time Darleen, e corp, Tyrell and dark army are all working towards season 4 as revealed in season 3, which basically means elliot in prison really fucks up the plan for everyone. Not to mention mr robot and elliot shares a sense of closeness despite conflicting each other. We also got our share of Tyrell’s family story arc

One that really stands out is Elliot finding Olivia in the bathroom after she slit her wrists. He fixed her all up himself and she bounced right back from massive blood loss. Anyway, the actors total embodiment of their characters remained consistent throughout. It's the performances that standout for me. The obvious ones, Rami Malak & Christian Slater, were amazing but other actors like Elliot Villar & Bobby Cannavale were brilliant as their respective characters. BD Wong was in a class all by himself. The characters are unforgettable.

    • I also hate saying goodbye to something good, I do miss mr. robot the same way I miss Breaking Bad, aka I want to forget it entirely and rewatch it from 0 knowing nothing, holly hell. The Season 2 plot twist, that was the biggest t hing I've experienced in a while, it was the biggest WTF moment I've had, and it was glorious. And season 4 ending? Dayum, I just loved it, it was briliant and made too much sense, it's not like it came out of nowhere, it was well executed. Every charcter remained true to their charcter, there was no sudden 180 turn, and that's how you make a charcter, unlike GoT where they butchered all the charcters proggression they did, every charcter lost the mind and did 180 turn on it, lost the personaility and did dumb things, if I can recommnd GoT to someone its only up until season 6, and telling them that it ended with a nice cliffhanger, aka don't watch S7 and S8 and you will enjoy every second, but if you watch the 2 last seasons, you will be dissapointed. I hope to see more good shows coming from Sam, I don't care how long it takes, masterpieces take time and a lot of thinking, but it will happen, and if he did it once, he will obviously do it again.

  • 8:26 - One of my favourite scenes in the whole series. It's just one shot and yet I wouldn't change a thing about it. Any other director would have had multiple shots, with different points of view, but it would ruin the tension somehow. Because the shot lingers outside the cafe, you know a threat is coming but have no idea when or from where. So clever.
