Thanks to our growing Patreon community, we are able to cover the cost of the recent cherry picker rental! Patreon funding goes directly toward renovating the historical Chateau de Lesigny!
Special thanks to our dear Patrons: Jesse, Theo, and Morgan for your outstanding support of this Beau Chateau! You too can help support our renovation projects by joining our Patreon Community and gain access to exclusive videos, updates and more!
Join us, Daphne and Ian, as we embark on our new chateau renovation projects! This week,, Francis makes a problematic discovery in the chateau. Ian continues landscaping in the chateau garden while Daphne pursues the bathroom remodel project. We escape the chateau for a weekend trip to Normandy to show our visiting family a new region in France!
Our "beau chateau" (The 500-year-old, Chateau De Lesigny), is located near Paris, France. Most of the structures around the chateau domain need a full restoration, so we are investing everything we have into making the property thrive! We are learning more about french culture and developing new skills along the way!
As a French/American UC Berkeley graduate in Agriculture (Daphne), and a U.S. Air Force Tactical Response Force Veteran/ Kinesiologist (Ian), we share a love for challenges and adventure. We have a long road ahead of us and we are excited to share the experience with you!
You can support our renovation projects by joining our Patreon Community, where you can also gain access to exclusive videos and behind the scene access with Daphne and Ian! All patron funding is used to renovate this historical French Chateau. Every patron is paramount to our chateau renovations and we thank you all tremendously!

  • I must admit that when Ian was struggling with the tree branch and fell I did laugh. I said just prior to the fall "your going to take a tumble when that branch breaks off" and when he said "I meant to do that" I laughed harder! So glad you have your dad there to help with the bathroom renovation. The trip to Normandy was what you needed. All work and no play...... wears you down. I am ready for spring at the Chateau ❣

  • The tree your trimming in this video is a Yew tree. Taxis Brevafolia, the original source for taxol used in cancer treatment and here in the Pacific Northwest, the Natives used for bows, and in Europe for horse whips since it's known to be very strong and flexible as you found when you landed on your backside. Made me laugh, sorry....

I've been watching them for a little while and I think they have received some funding to help fix their chateau roof. I think the funding was applied for through something called monument historique or French Heritage Society. It might pay you to take a look at their channel. I don't really understand how they got the funding but it may be something you can also apply for.

  • In Interior Designs I find that tile work ages the fastest of all the interior spaces. I dont mean the actual material but the overall look and style. Yet you cannot change it up quickly like a wall color. you probably wouldnt want to rip out the bathroom because its too big a job to actually do once your taste changes or the overall look didnt age well. Choose a timeless design. Something that ages well and is not easily put into one design era. My tip would be to do 2/3rds of the lower walls tiled and paint or wallpaper above. Except for the shower area of course. Choose a simple design for the tiles. No fancy shapes, neutral colors. Go crazy or stay calm for the design above the tiles. You can easily change it up. Stick to one tile for the wall and one for the ground. that would be my recommedation. Looking forward to seeing the renovation process on your channel.

  • "Top Peak" of the Roof when roofing material is applied like tile or slate" Under roofing material is the Ridge Board at the peak or it could be called a compass rafter if it is curved or bowed on the top (the top surface of a rafter is called its "back") or both the top and bottom surfaces can be called the back. Really important to understand the basic geometry of your roof after all it is the single most expensive item to replace on your Chateau its a multi-million dollar proposition. I would suggest you take look into courses on "Skillshare" you are both acting "Construction managers" at the chateau on top of everything else, Who knows maybe they will sponsor you. I Really enjoy your videos I love the claim pace. You too make a fantastic couple 👍

  • I love the bathroom design, but I'm a fan of more modern looks. Hope it ends up being close to what was sketched out after you get into everything.

    • Thank you 😊 The 3D image is a generalized concept fitted to our layout, but the floors will certainly be limestone and we will probably add some flare in the shower and around the mirror. It might even be a double sink.. Our next task is to find all the amenities within our budget 🤞
