Using VINTAGE fabrics to create the PERFECT CHATEAU BEDROOM!
Lalande is full of activity as we use vintage fabric to create the bed curtains in the attic bedroom, and Nick the Tree Surgeon brings his mobile saw mill to the woods, so that we can fell, mill and use our own timber on the property!

What about making Lalande cheese boards and coasters for your shop with Lalande wood and emblazoned with the chateau? Thanks for all the wonderful content.
Brilliant!
Great idea
Brilliant, 100% endorse 😁
Yes laser cutters are inexpensive now you can engrave so much with them. So that would be so awesome
Exactly!
Nick is proving to be one of the best additions to the chateau ever. What a brilliant guy.
I totally agree. He is a gem. I can’t imagine there would be many I with his skill and knowledge.
His knowledge and skills are very impressive.
Nick's suspenders read "Oregon". Hello from Oregon, Nick!
It is wonderful to see how each person starts out shy and reserved and then blossoms under Stephanie’s enthusiasm and appreciation for the role they play.
Indeed, he is a keeper. All that wood is treated with respect.
Nick is an ABSOLUTE GEM! There you are…out in the middle of nowhere… and dang! if you don’t draw the MOST MAGNIFICENT and MAGICAL people to LaLande! Nick is such a RARE bird, Stephanie, that Heaven obviously has its eyes on you! Every single person that works for you is BEYOND amazing! You are so blessed! It is such a pleasure to witness.🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I would keep the needlepoint in the oval frame over the bed in the toile room. It would just feel too on-the-nose to have it be toile, and I'm always wary of over-theming a room. As the glorious Dorothy Draper said, "Mix it up," and "If it looks right, it is right." I'll drink to that, and I am (gin-and-tonic on a summer night in Michigan.). The milling of the logs was fascinating, and Amaury's enthusiasm is contagious. Glorious things happening at La Lande!
I love seeing Andrew and Ricardo, they're so generous when they visit and I love the humour! One could only dream to have the collection of BFF's as you do Stephanie! Such wonderful people gather at Lalande.
Nick the Tree Surgeon is brilliant, great partner with Amaurey. Thank you Stephanie, great video!
👌🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🐨🇦🇺
Coffee, Stephanie and the whole cast of Lalandé originals, it's like checking in at home....
The black insect on the wisteria is a bee! It's a black carpenter bee. They're huge! They are solitary bees and like dead but not rotten woodfor making nests, and with all the trees coming down in the forest it's no wonder you're getting them around the chateau.
Thanks for the information, I said to my self, is to black or maybe was the outside light.
Love watching Nick the tree surgeon work. For some reason it is very satisfying watching the milling in action.
The steel beams on the top of the courtyard structure now look like a design element pulling in the darkness of the roof. Well done!
Now the trees have got frames)
I just worry that the steel will get too hot in the summer and damage the espaliered trees?
@@jackierice4254 Good point. We shall see.
@@jackierice4254 I think that Davey will have the answer to that and will be able to advise accordingly. Good idea to bring it up now so it can be taken into consideration.
I must say, Nick really knows his stuff! You would be hard pressed to find someone else like him to handle this end of the business for the chateau. He has put me on to following the Notre Dame restoration myself. Can’t wait to see Amaury and Nati’s recyclables station! It’s just what is needed! Gosh, I can’t believe how far things have progressed in a years time!
I watched a brilliant documentary about Notre Dame. It had some footage of the day the awful fire started, the clearing, demolition of damaged parts, sourcing of timbers for restoration etc, etc. Well worth a watch, I think it was on the BBC.
How do I follow Notre Dame reconstruction? I would love to do that. I jump on every update I find, but I would love to follow it regularly.
Love to see the 'Oregon' suspenders! As a nurse on the Pacific Northwest we see logging accidents by the most skilled persons as millwork can be so dangerous. I would love to see the men wearing safety goggles.
Oh yes I agree please don’t work around the saw without eye protection.
I could listen to Nick discuss trees and timber all day. He is absolutely fascinating, you could not have a better tree surgeon.
Thank you so much for all the joy!! 💞💝💞 Yeah. This channel has grown into my system sooo much, over the years… ❣️
The forest work is so impressive for a multitude of reasons. The thought of your healthy woods & one day your lake restored just fill my heart with joy 🥰 In the meantime I’m thoroughly enjoy the journey with all of you.
Wonderful series. Amaury is gorgeous as is Nati !
Nick needs his own channel
Nick is a master of his craft.
For Notre Dame, their are rebuilding the forest that holds the roof. A milling building was doubled in size just to cut the large 2,000 trees needed. The trees are coming from all over France as they need trees hundreds of years old.😀😀😀
Magnificent tree surgeon and your cousin's knowledge is outstanding. The toille room is beautiful.
The tree surgeon and his white clad helpers are giving me life!
the knowledge that Nick has is incrediable ...... so very lucky to have the most talented and dedicated la la landers . Keep up the great work everyone . Sending love health and happiness from Dubai xoxo
Nick the tree surgeon is brilliant! I loved seeing his “Oregon” suspenders, since that is where I live. :)
I loved seeing that too! I live in Vancouver now but grew up in Portland - I still think of myself as an Oregonian, I’m only a river away.
@@tpainter4714 hello neighbor, i am from Lakewood WA🙂 hope you were able to stay cool through our heatwave!☀️
Myself as well...and as an Oregon and Stihl Brand dealers. You boys are fantastic and Lalande is blessed to have you care for her.
When you say “I love it in the courtyard. I really never never get bored of coming home to this!”.. I can imagine the joy Isabel will have seeing this beautiful transformation, not only in the courtyard but the woods and walled garden.. and with her new improved eyesight!! My grandmother was legally blind, deteriorating over the years and she wished for such joys as her garden was her passion. A garden up close with the smells, colours and textures is such a sensory joy, especially one like this with love put into it and with Isabel’s in mind too. 🥰💐
How lovely of you to think this! Isabel is going to be so happy 😀🥰
I always want these episodes to go on and on...... love them and the people who inhabit or visit the Chateau! 💖👌
Every time I watch another episode, I learn something. These videos are priceless!
Another injection of positivity! Thank you all.
Nick the tree man is one amazing caricature 🌲🌲🌲🍀🌲🌲🌲
I like Nick the tree surgeon!! He’s so cool!!!! 😎😎😎
My father wrote/typed letters to his mother and brother during WWII (Pacific theater) on super, super wafer-thin wood sheets (you could see the grain of the wood). He said it was "paper" (as such) left behind by the retreating Japanese army. I have seen the two original letters at my cousin's - it is really amazing that they could be used in a typewriter.
Interesting!
That's amazing I'm sure museum would love them, I know it be hard to part with them but this way they last forever
The steel does look so much better, aesthetically. The bedroom, beautiful, friends…priceless!
"What a team we've got! It's incredible!" I couldn't agree with you more. It really is amazing how you have the right people in place to develop the land and renovate the chateau!
Nick & Amaury are a magical team!
Are we going to get an update soon of all the paneling? Can’t wait to see what Amaurey has been doing!
I am full of admiration for Nick and Graham. What knowledge and skill. They are delightful
It is so great to see smiling Dan!!!
He in love-all will soon be revealed!💞
Nick is one impressive guy! Amaury is so excited! Toile room is gorgeous!
Nick really knows all the ins and outs of timber for sure. He is another Lalande wizard. 😊❤️
Sooo glad to see Dan back! He always has great projects to work on, Dan style. AnnMarie is a treasure! I had heard about Notre Dame using green cut wood as in the days of old. I finally got my land and will be stripping bark from the bottom of timber this winter so it will dry out by spring, The sap stops running in mid winter so it is bone dry by spring if you remove a foot strip of bark from a foot above the base. I will be milling it and building my forever manor home in the spring. Then my formal gardens and a meadow with a natural spring swimming pond. I am beyond happy!!! I wanted a Chateau but I can no longer do steps but I did see a single level Chateau on KZhead. It gave me hope and a plan! LOL
How exciting for you! :) I too am finding stairs to be more challenging these days and was excited when you mentioned the single level chateau. Do you remember the name of its KZhead channel?
I love that there is people that can not not help out when things need to be done. Amauri is always there when someone needs a helping hand in the chateau.
Nick the tree surgeon is brilliant! X
A couple of large chunks of trunks treated and polished look beautiful as stools and side tables on the terrace.
The music you chose for Amaury and Nick with th'e huge log, was perfect. Amaury's idea for a structure is brilliant.
Yes Stephanie I second that, you do have a great team at TheLand🥰🌈🇨🇦
Less is More The test of a great designer is........ Knowing When To Stop
So inventive Amaurie. You and Nati working together...ahh!😊
I don't know if people have any idea how expensive machines these saw mill machines are , I do ! I have wood somewhere in Finland and they wouldn't even bother coming to cut them considering the cost and the amount of trees I have , no it's not one or two trees ! Anyway, this tree guy is doing amazing job ! You were lucky to find him !
Great! Finally Stephanie you will not have to look at the garbage from your window! Your cousin is really a hard working darling!
LaLande is blessed with many GOOD WORKERS!
Just wow, how amazing in LaLande with all the characters, this is how life should be lived. Community. Everyone partakes and contributes
Wow…Nick is brilliant! I am enthralled listening to the information he gives us about wood. What an amazing army of people you have compiled at LaLande Stephanie!
Nick has been a wonderful addition to the LeLand family. I wish I could find my own Nick for my family’s Century property. 250+ acres, 80% woods since farming stopped in 1948. Having someone you trust to make the best decisions for now and the future of our beloved woods would be huge improvement for our future generations. My ancestors built the original 1837 house from trees they felled and cut . They had a mill come in 90 years later to make magnificent beams for new barns and several homes on the property. You and Phillip are a great couple who work so well together doing projects. Looking forward to seeing Amory and Natty working on the future bin enclosure. So much love and friendship at the château! ❤️❤️
In NC all forests need a forestry plan, past by the forestry department of the state. My 32 acres needed a plan and the step family who have 300 plus acres needed a plan. Call your state department for a local business to help you. Good luck! 😀
How wonderful to have a property that has been in your family for so long in America!!! I’m into researching my ancestry and have learned about ancestors who owned large tracts of land but my parents didn’t inherit anything unfortunately! My German ancestors who came to the Virginia colony in 1714 lived in tiny huts but my several times great grandfather managed to acquire over 100,000 acres before his death. I hope your family truly appreciate the history and hard work that your ancestors achieved 😀
Courtyard looks amazing! Love the black metal supports.
Nick is such an asset!
Love the trees being milled on site!!! 😁❤️🇨🇦❤️🇫🇷❤️🎶🎶🎶
Dan must keep appearing!!! Love the fresh wood! It must be so rewarding to be able to use your own for many projects, repairs etc to come! The toile is fabulous, my favorite. I would change out the oval picture. I'm sure you you will find the right thing to tie it all together! Much love from MA😘
I like the center embroidery frame. Breaks from all the toile.
me too
I love the center embroidery but think that the frame needs to touched w/ some rubbed gold paint. It will give depth and substance to the beautiful frame
now i can go back to what i was doing early… watching Chateau Diaries in Order 😄 👍🏾😉
It's a bee on the wisteria, in French: abeille charbonnière, great pollinator!
Dome years ago, I saw two of these bees collide! They fell to the ground. It was in late summer, perhaps they were on the way out..
As a native Oregonian, I love Nick's "Oregon" suspenders!
What an interesting and lovely Vlog. It’s so good to see the amazing progress inside and out, plus everyone is so happy. In the Toile room, I think the oval frame with what is inside looks really good. What a transformation. ❤️
Dear Stephanie, nevermind the toile bedroom. What do you call "full activity"? What we saw was Philip doing some work on the headbord and you playing with a picture frame. As other projects this bedroom was not finished as well. What's happening with Natti's apartment, the attic, lake, Grand salon! So many projects begun and left with no word when if at all will be finished! We can't see any progress being made on the Chateau at all this days. I've been watching for a long time and honestly the videos are making me frustarded this days instead of brining some joy as in previous days. BR Julia
Lovely vlog. My nephew has a saw mill like that. It really does wonders. You would pay a fortune for that wood in the store. Once again the food and friends and fun was much enjoyed. Can't wait to see the room complete. Best wishes all.
Love the music you put with the cutting of the wood.
I live in Los Angeles and I so want to turn my little room into a french jewel box! You live in such a beautiful place that is rich in history and tradition. Some of my favorite moments is in the kitchen and when dining as I get inspired on what too look for when I search etsy for vintage dinnerware. Thank you for letting us live vicariously through you all! My new bucket list item is to one day visit your chateau!!!!
I love the 'toile' room, that's where I'd choose to stay. The view from the window is incredible. It's so lovely to see the wood being milled, Nick has done such a fab job and he's so knowledgeable. It's sweet to see Amaury so passionate about the wood 💗. Love Sundays, it's like catching up with friends. Ive recently become a 'Lady of LaLande' Lady Fiona has quite a nice ring to it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😎☺️x
Your work in this Room is Brilliant Phillip & Stephanie! ❤️ 💙 💜 💖. Missing Dan so much being there, but do love all his own vlogs. Lol I love that large log, it has beautiful natural wood design. My uncle & grandfather use to build & carve alot out of wood from trees in the woods. Also, my father in law made picnic tables & benches ..loved that wood smell. Your Cousin is a genius & so Is Natie for Falling for him. They are sooo 😍. Love the Timber mill man & Fellows. Lol 😆
Nick is a Brilliant Tree Surgeon ❤🌳 Great Tatoos too 👍 The Toile Room is looking Excellent 🥰
That is seriously impressive. Love the saw mill. How amazing is it that you source your own wood. That is so 18th century. What a joy to watch. Thank you LaLande, Stephanie, Philip and Amuary. Hugs
Lovely shrine in memory of Dan. 🙏🏻
I am late to the party concerning your dark pink round turret staircase with lovely prints - every time you come down of a morning, I am completely blown away by the joy and elegance. Thank you for the support you bring just by living your life 🦋🤗❤️🙏🏼😉🙏🏼🍊🍾
It is the pigeon tower. There is KZhead channel 4 footage from last year and CD vlog on painting and hanging her whole set of pigeon prints there on ribbons.😀
And on her early vlogs shows her purchasing the pigeon pictures and then receiving them all individually wrapped in wonderful pieces of fabric.
Steph, there is not enough of your videos. I know it is not possible but many more would make us so pleased. Anyway it is so nice to see life at Lalande. XXX to all of you.
If you become a Patron, you get one more video a week. Check it out.😀
Every time I watch your vlogs I feel such a positive vibe!
Wow!! Love the pink toile room and the tree work is astounding!! And Amaury still amazes me with all his talents and willingness to be proactive and creative on his day off to do even more. Love the communal eating!! Love to you all!! 💗
Phillip, just in case you ever read this, those electric tooth brushes wear away the outer layer of enamel really fast, as I can attest to when I lost the three vertical ridges on my front teeth within eight months of starting with the electric TB, leaving my teeth slightly yellower too. I was SO cross with my dentist for pressing me to use it. Just thought I would put that out there. LOVE your decorating with S.
I so love watching. I am actually away on holiday in Queensland Australia and am now binge watching to catch up.
Good to see Dan, Amery, Natzy and you all at the chateau de La Land!
Rewatched right away again. Loved the wood milling. Fun to watch and great music. Step family has tree farm but most trees just leave and not milled on the mountains. Nick and Graham are so good at their job. May I suggest you leave the beige embroidery in the oval to break up the pink. LOL😘😘😘
i agree - the white oval with beige is a focal point - please leave it.
I agree!! To much of a good thing!!! USA
I think just hang it a little lower - closer to the bed head.
The colours in the bedroom is beautiful and the beautiful view's. 👍🥰
Something I like to do is take photographs and put them on mugs. Perhaps you could do a series of mugs using your father's paintings.? And I have suggested this before have some of the older paintings that you had made into paper? Perhaps you could do printed tissue paper? As always love all the progress and like that you're splitting the channel so we see more of the actual Chateau Diaries. Still hope to come Sunday soon
Brilliant decorating…… there’s no end to what Amory can make with milled timber from the woods…….. sooooooo exciting …. there just aren’t enough hours in the day to finish all he has to do🤠
Excellent vlog! The people who come to LaLande to work and volunteer are truly amazing. Amaury’s plan for the bins is a great idea. Your now traditional ending for your vlog- dinner with everyone around the table is the icing on the cake. Thanks Stephanie and Co🙏🏻❤️
The music whilst in the forest was very dramatic! I expect to see great things from that wood! 🥰
I would love a shelf of the freshly cut wood with the raw edge.
Dear Stephanie here is some info about the blue-black bee. The authors Liddell and Scott (A Greek-English Lexicon) say: The French entomologist Pierre André Latreille described the genus in 1802. He derived the name from the Ancient Greek xylokopos/ξυλοκὀπος "wood-cutter. So therefore, it's known as the "Carpenter bee". What a suitable coincidence, especially in this episode. Sending love from the Czech, Oldrich 👠
I love you telling Amaury, on camera, to rest on his time off. Hahaha. So funny. I also love that him and Natti are going to do this together. They are the sweetest.
Wonderful video! Love the pictures in the room. Learning about the woods and woodcutting is very interesting!
Team Nick just gets better each vlog his knowledge is highlighted. Clearly, a total godsend for getting the best out of an old woodland resource. Amaury must be in dreamland, ideas flow, enriching the whole chateau grounds. Looking forward to the waste bin shelter come sheep water unit. 💙🤍❤️🐑🇫🇷🍷🇬🇧👍💯
To quote the “Police” …”Every little thing you do is magic!” and when I say you, I mean everyone at Lalande! It’s so fabulous to watch the flow of talented people that bless Lalande with all their strengths and knowledge. It’s creating magic right before our eyes. I hope that one day I get the chance to share my talents with you as well! Bisous 💖🏰🌞
Such great guys to work together. Helping each other, and being sustainable at the same time. Knowledgeable folk, helping each other, for the good of everyone. Love it. xxx
What a small world lol the Woodland Mills HM130max is my dream sawmill! Made just a few hours from me in Ontario 🇨🇦 Excellent work on those trees Nick!
Really fun vlog! I loved seeing the wood milled and how resourceful you all are. The toile room looks great! And Dan!
Fabulous video as ever Stephanie. Really enjoyed it all but especially the section on the wood cutting. Very uplifting and the music was so appropriate. Loved the dinner scene. What a wonderful group of friends 👏❤️👏
Lovely courtyard 🎉❤
Never in my life wood would I have thought I could find wood to be so fascinating or interesting.
Love this channel 🙏☀️❤️
I’m glad to see I am not the only one with projects interrupted again and again. How do we get anything done? LOL! I enjoy watching your beautiful community take shape around/in/through your beautiful building and property. I often think of how I can also create a place of community here that brings together a group of remarkable and lovely people. I don’t think a building is required for that magic to happen, but of course it doesn’t hurt. I’m enjoying seeing your charming and handsome Philipp bring his own contribution to the beauty of the Château. Sending love from the Shenandoah Valley in the States. I look forward to your videos! 🌸💕💜🦋
I had to call my husband in to see Nick working his mill. What an amazing piece of machinery! (the mill not Nick although he is quite spectacular as well). I have never seen such a thing and am quite floored by it. I think the thing I love most about those who are drawn to La Lande is that every single one of them have a certain area of expertise and their knowledge is fantastic. If you just stick with a certain group of friends or neighbours you only learn from them what they know but if you have a continuous stream of new people coming and going then you learn from each of them. I also love the toile room and what you are doing with it. It is lovely.
i'm loving waching the milling
Stephanie Everyone Lalanders Have a Lovely day. Fabulous Video. Xx 😘
