Discover the private apartments of this beautiful chateau, which for hundreds of years was lived in by French counts and marquis!
I'm delighted to welcome you into my home, and to take you on a personal tour. There's so much to see that I've had to split the tour into several parts. This week I'll show you the private areas, not usually seen by guests, that we use in our every day life at the chateau - including my mother's apartment, the service rooms behind the kitchen, and the apartment that was lived in by the Marquis to live at the chateau 👑
It's the moment we've all been waiting for - a full tour of the Chateau de Lalande! I'm sorry that it's taken me so long to do this, but I never felt that the chateau was fully ready! But I've realised that I'll always feel that way, and part of the beauty of a historic home like this is that it's always a work in progress. Restoring Lalande is the creative passion of my life ❤️🏰❤️
Escape to the chateau with ’The Chateau Diaries’ 🏰
This weekly vlog follows the adventures of chatelaine Stephanie in her French 16th century home, the Chateau de Lalande, in the heart of rural France ❤️
A very special thank you to all of you who have become Patrons of the Chateau de Lalande. As you can imagine, your help means more to me now than ever. Because of you, I'll be able to keep living at Lalande and making videos even though our chambres d'hotes income has been decimated by the coronavirus. I’ve been overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity, On behalf of this beautiful chateau that will continue to survive and flourish because of you, thank you!!!

  • So glad you did not take your mothers advice to not show the unfinished rooms. I think its so important that people see the reality of a chateau, not just the beautiful finished product. You have accomplished so much, and can be so proud of everything you have done. Of course there will always be more, but its the process thats more important than the end. Well done. Loving every single moment!!

I’ve only recently discovered yours and Michael’s channels and am delighted with everything I’ve seen. I also appreciate your down to earth manner, considering your beauty and operatic voice, you’ve maintained a sense of delight, humility and genuine relatability. Best wishes to you and your chateau family!

  • I truly appreciate seeing the before, shows us what kind of and how much work needs to be done to restore what is now becoming a beautiful home once again! No need to feel embarrassed, you didn’t create the mess but rather you and many others are painstakingly and lovingly restoring this very old, well used Chateau. It’s a lot of work and a huge financial commitment too. Well done! Mummy is a hoot! Love her apartment, so sweet of you!

  • I love your fathers art. You should definitely get those gorgeous originals, printed and sell those to the public. Not postcard size but original size....in frames. Any size would do. You could command a fortune and it would be a wonderful opportunity to showcase your fathers work, world wide. Maybe your father is telling you this from the other side? Maybe he's secretly trying to help you financially, in your Chateau renovations?

For when you say "not decorated yet " it doesn't mean ugly or neglected, not by a long shot. I bow to people with higher standards than mine. I'd call that room "done." It's quite livable.

I love your purchases at the 2nd hand shops and how your 'finds' become useful and part of your collections. Your taste is wonderful and its genius how you renovate and furnish your home with them. France must have wonderful 2nd hand shops. Its so much better recycling real wood hand crafted furniture and using it than replacing with flatpacks and Ikea. You have a real knack for design and up doing every room! Its alot of hard work and you make magic happen! Your personality is so dynamic and upbeat. Well done Stephanie!!

It is so satisfying to restore an old home. We are just the current guardians of these old homes and must preserve them for the generations to come. As they say, they don’t build them like that any more.

It reminds me of my two friends who left England and made their home in France near La Reole near the Gironde river many years ago, money was in short supply and they hunted around second hand shops to furnish their property. A lot of the furniture was in a similar style and they eventually made a lovely home together. Interestingly the Chapel has a gothic look as well, and the exterior and interior design could be considered in decorating the room. If the visual link is there through the window, it could be another room in your beautiful Chateau that acknowledges it's historical past. • Oh lordy, I wish I had a fabulous French Chateau to love and restore! 😢 Its a sad week for myself and my family. We were coming for a week over Easter to our little former cow shed in a tiny hamlet Chez le Maçon in Vienne region. What's particularly galling is that we are stuck in a damp rented house in Cambridgeshire....knowing we could be doing masses of DIY jobs in France. We are supposedly moving permanently in August....😷 fingers crossed that will be possible or I may get mad with envy watching your fabulous vlogs! 😄

  • I love all your videos, Stephanie, and have been looking forward to this one, in particular. I am near the beginning of it, and wanted to suggest you might video yourself repairing or servicing the geothermal unit, so that, in your absence, someone there could see how to do so. People - myself included - learn how to do many things from KZhead videos, these days. You are so good at making these videos, so you could put that skill together with your skill with the unit. ♥️ Now, I have watched the entire video. I so enjoyed seeing all the private rooms you showed us. Your taste is divine. Thank you for sharing it all with us.

  • I just recognise the overall achievements done in the meantime , binch watching all the jounger diaries already , I see now how much vision and perseverance is needed for creating a little chateau household . I completely agree with developing a new stage of artsy & playful design combined from old and new , that’s also the way I grew up .
