Watching while eating cereal like 90s Saturday morning cartoons.
@@AceChampElite this is an oddly flattering compliment lol
@@JPRPokeTrainer98can you do a palworld video as a April fools video
Hey, at least it actually comes out in the morning this time, so your opening phrase works for once. No offense meant.
A JPR Saturday video is almost as rare as finding a shiny Pokemon
Misdreavus being so rare was a pretty big factor in it being my second favorite Pokemon. I saw it for the first time in the Entei episode of the anime, and was confused because I'd never seen it in my copy of Silver. One of my brother's friends borrowed my game, got through the rest of Kanto for me and got me to Mt. Silver. I found a Misdreavus later on and was amazed that it actually existed. I caught it and trained it, and it became one of my very first Level 100 Pokemon.
Misdreavus was done so dirty in gen 2. But to be fair, I don't think I'd love her as much as I did if she didn't have that bit of unfairness handed to her. I even like her a fair bit more than Mismagius and usually never evolve her if I can avoid it.
@@MagusAgrippa8 It really is crazy that Morty or none of his Gym Trainers had one lol. But yeah I almost never evolve mine either, except for Dex filling purposes haha
This is how I felt about Dunsparce and Qwilfish in addition to Misdreavus
I like Misdreavus because while it's on the weaker side, I quite like its design. More than Mismagius or Flutter Mane even.
personally both those are a significant upgrade from Misdreavous, all cool forms though but Johto did Musdreavous dirty (which is not something new for Johto, most of Johto mons suck) @@castform7
The fact that Morty doesn't have a Misdreavus hurts my heart and that extends to others gym leaders in Johto...😥
So many examples Falkner - hoothoot, noctowl Bugsy- ariados, yanma, Chuck - hitmontop,
@@ChocolateSoda1Chuck doesn’t have a Heracross either
Jasmine - skarmory and fortress
Crystal Legacy fixes all of this :)
It should be mentioned that for the Black and White games specifically, no trainer in the playthrough of the story uses Ferrothorn on their team. That means if you didn't evolve a Ferroseed, you'd actually have a missing dex entry for that game. This was fixed in the sequel games so that it had more representation.
Yes, and nobody uses a Zweilous either in BW. That is a bit more understandable, though.
I vividly remember this, Ferrothorn was the last Gen 5 Pokemon I learned about when the games first came out due to not raising one when the games came out, and no trainers having one.
Karen or Silver should’ve had a Tyranitar. Especially in HG/SS.
Kinda surprised she didn't even have one in the rematch tbh
@@JPRPokeTrainer98Same! I love Umbreon, but it’s very underwhelming as an ace pokemon post game.
It's just kind of weird to me. It's the one time a pseudo has corresponded with a type specialized in by an Elite Four member (with understandable outliers like Kahili, Bertha, Grimsley and Poppy) hasn't been used. It's not like the older gens weren't like this because in the previous gen, Elite Four Lance had a Dragonite. It's probably one of the most glaring omissions from a team I've ever seen. Right up there with Ruby/Sapphire Wattson and... like half of the Johto gyms.
that's why I don't think HGSS are that great games, the things they fixed basically are non existent, the weird level curve still exists, a lot of missing mons, bad teams, empty Kanto, etc.
@@theamazingspooderman2697They are great, just not as good as they could’ve been.
Grumpig is in the gen 3 anime. The episode where May learns about pokeblocks there is a coordinator with a Grumpig
I distinctly remember hearing Jessie mention Grumpig in one of those compilation/"funny moments" videos about Team Rocket.

That thumbnail art with Misdreavus is pretty cute and sad at the same time.
And knowing its ancestor is a common use for the current meta is kinda funny now a days
Yeah Skarmory was so rare that I first saw it in Ruby and genuinely thought it was a gen 3 Pokémon
Same but I played Emerald
I thought it was a Gen 5 Pokémon 😅
I also thought that back when i did my first Ruby playthough. It’s funny because back then i thought i knew all about the gen 1 and gen 2 pokes. Turns out i had missed just one in gen 2: Skarmory.
@@justjoannak Same lol
Same here. Emerald was my first Pokemon game, but Gold was the first one I finished. Imagine my shock playing silver a couple years later and seeing a Skarmory
Glameow and Purugly are the only non-legendary Pokemon from Gens 1-7 to not have appeared in a regional Pokedex outside its own. (Hisui doesn't count because it's still Sinnoh so every Gen 4 mon is there by default) They're also available at the Mirage Islands in ORAS, but it's pretty telling of its rarity when the only obtainable appearance outside of its home region is in a remake.
Glameow is also available in any Hidden Grotto in White 2.
Actually, there's a firebreather just outside of Mt. Moon who uses Slugma.
Brandon in Emerald had one too
@@jesuschrist5838Slugma, as well as Skarmory, are featured quite a bit in Hoenn despite being almost entirely absent in gen 2, which is why quite a bit of fans were once convinced that they’re gen 3 Pokémon (some people probably still are).
Misdreavus was the first pure ghost 👻 type in generations 2 but you can’t find it until post game and crazy part they have a ghost type user in Johto but this gym leader only used gastly line
They wanted to have mons that would be mysterious, and make people breed for and trade with each other. Maybe not the best choice when your franchise is as popular as Pokemon was/is, but its clear with decisions like shinies and roamers that they were shooting for such a sense. Also, Misdreavus is pretty strong for that point in the game. They kinda only get away with the haunters and a gengar on his team because they're super gimmicky, so if you just reset enough, you can luck your way through it. Misdreavus has more bulk than Haunter, no poison weakness to exploit, and a more straightforward moveset in gen 2. I see why they made that decision with Morty's team specifically, even if they had made different choices with Misdreavus elsewhere.
Larvitar was also exclusive to Mt. Silver in Gen 2 (excluding Crystal where it can be bought from the Celadon Game Corner) and no trainer uses the line. I guess they thought Tyranitar was too strong for Karen or Brock.
So that's why I thought Skarmory was a gen 3 pokemon for so long.
That dung beetle is so hilarious, I laughed my ass off watching it trudge that poo for 1000 steps for it to then reach enlightenment. Just imagine if that's what they're doing in real life. Love im
Now I’m picturing hoards of Rellor setting out on religious pilgrimages across the region like some sorta rite of passage they all end up having to go through at some point in their life cycle to reach that state. Like the mass Rellor exodus would be a yearly thing they people of Paldea know to expect, like how we have mosquito season or migratory bird visits. When the spring rolls in, drivers stop to reverently wait and watch as this year’s crowd of young bugs slowly roll their poops across the road. Some towns give them protected status like my state does turkeys and you literally can’t disturb them as they shuffle their way to enlightenment. I feel like I need to draw this now. Thanks for giving me such a good laugh 😂
Misdreavus is actually pretty good for Red's Snorlax from what I've heard.
It's weird Pincer is featured in episode 3 of the Anime. On a Bug Catcher's team, like WHAT? They COULD have given it to a Bug Trainer somewhere along with Scyther.
Pokemon Black players can at least see Braviary because Cynthia has one on her team in it and White
I know it wasn't in gen 2. but Misdreavus probably got the biggest pokemon upgrade ever in Flutter Mane. She went from one of the weakest pokemon ever to a pokemon so ridiculously broken you'd think a game freak was drunk when she was designed
I'm pretty sure Delibird's buff in Iron Bundle is bigger, but very close! (Delibird is one of my 6 favourite Pokemon, but has always been super rare and garbage at battle).
@@davidscheepstra1524 That is indeed true iron bundle is technically a bigger buff. But Flutter Mane is a bit stronger but like you said it's very close. Although I think it will become stronger if miraidon can be used in vgc
Not only that, but she got Mismagius as an evo, so you're not stuck with a weak ghost type forever. Man, kind of sucks that Johto had only _one_ singular new ghost type. Johto could have used another 20 new mons. Just saying. 100 isn't that much in the grand scheme of things.
@@Jw87563 I think originally, gen 1 and 2 mons were supposed to be in the same game, just not enough room. So they made silver and gold with a small dex
Don't forget mantine in gen 2 - its like the counterpart of skarmory, available only in gold in a very specific water area
Welcome to the JPR Saturday Special!
I'm so glad that Flutter Mane exists since Misdreavus is my most favourite Pokemon of all time. Finally my floating decapitated head can destroy anyone in sight.
Misdreavus was a huge help against Red’s Snorlax, keep mean look, level up once to learn perish song, there’s nothing he could do
AFK Journey is out like 3 days and I already hate this game with all my heart.
There’s an npc with pinsir in pattern bush in frlg I would argue scyther is more rare because literally nobody uses it in frlg or rby
I remember learning multiple generations later that Skarmory, Slugma, & Corsola were gen 2, not gen 3. Same thing with Chimecho being gen 3, not gen 4. And just one gen later, I forgot Clobbopus existed…
Grumping did appear in an anime episode, it was used by a female cordinator that taught may how to make pokéblocks
Trumping?
@@chaoticchris4039 autocorrect
What’s funny about the mention of Slugma and Misdreavus is that I’m actually using them on my team in current HeartGold run; Slugma you can get from Primo in Violet City via an egg and Misdreavus you can get in the Safari Zone forest area(available after healing Amphy at the lighthouse). Granted the egg is only if you say specific things based on your trainer ID and Misdreavus’ encounter chance is still 10% during the day and 30% at night. And I didn’t even know you could get a Slugma egg so early in the game until this year(yknow, 14 YEARS LATER). He can also give a Wooper and Mareep egg, but they can be obtained on nearby routes before Azalea. The more you know🤷🏻♂️
I wish my friends and family would let me enjoy Pokémon in peace 💔
How so?
Grumpig DID get an episode of the anime in Gen. III. Heck, it technically got two: 'Pokéblock, Stock, and Berry' and 'Lessons in Lilycove.' It was the partner of a Coordinator from Lilycove City that taught May how to make Pokéblocks and competed against her in the Lilycove Contest.
It's funny to think how many Pokémon there are which I wouldn't know exist as a kid if it wasn't for either strategy guide books or the internet. I remember seeing gaps in my Gen 3 Dex and have to dial up my parents' modem to look up what was missing: "What on earth is a Chimecho? And how am I supposed to pronounce that?!"
I seem to remember there was a Grumpig in one of May’s contest episodes, the trainer was called Kelly iirc.
I watched that episode recently, you're right. JPR needs to do more research for his videos.
A similar idea I’d love seeing is the pokemon with the longest regional Pokédex droughts, not counting remakes. Off the top of my head a couple are Venonat and Venomoth who weren’t in a regional dex from Johto until Paldea, and Patrat & Watchog who haven’t been catchable in a game since X&Y and two of the few Pokemon who still can’t leave Home
Bramblin also evolves by the walking method, but its evolution (Brambleghast) can be found in the wild
Im gonna be honest. In my whole life as a Pokemon fan I ALWAYS THOUGHT SLUGMA AND MACCARGO WERE FROM HOENN. Because of one particular trainer. FLANNERY.
Well, it's true that Johto didn't have a Fire specialist and you could only find Slugma in Kanto in Gen 2, but didn't Blaine use a Magcargo in his Gym battle?
@@miikaroos3809Yes. In GSC, a Firebreather in Kanto Route 3 used Slugma and Blaine used Magcargo. Everyone talks about how they thought Slugma and Magcargo were Gen 3 Pokémon but I never forgot they were Gen 2 Pokémon. Chinchou and Lanturn are the Gen 2 Pokémon evolutionary line that l can understand why a person would think they are Gen 3 Pokémon. No trainers used them in GSC and RSE did a way better job at promoting them. Chinchou is available way earlier in Johto than it is in Hoenn. However, unless you know where to fish for Chinchou using the Good Rod after defeating Whitney, you can play GSC multiple times not realizing Chinchou exists in Gen 2.
Did anyone else get confused when Valerie’s signature Pokémon was Sylveon and NOT Florges? And that Florges didn’t make any other Major appearances on opponents teams aside from the bowl cut rival.
8:28- yes it did. It featured quite prominently in one of the Lilycove Contest episodes.
I genuinely thought skarmory was a gen 3 pokemon this just blew my mind
0:47 bro why am i seeing so many afk journey sponsorships recently😭😭😭
They are the new raid shadow legends I guess.
when they increased misdreavus's spawn rate in violet, i knew i had to try and win the entirety of violet with it. always wanted to use it when i was younger but i was too impatient to try and get it. now i've got a traded in fluttermane and misdreavus together
I genuinely forgot Clobbopus was a Pokémon until you mentioned it!
The only way Morty was having a Misdreavus as his ace is if he was either the first or second Gym Leader instead of the fourth. Back in Gen II, Misdreavus was just there. You didn't use her and only caught her to complete the Pokédex. It wasn't until Gen IV where the Physical/Special split happened and she could evolve into Mismagius that she became viable.
I had Silver version at release. I actually thought Skarmory was a gen 3 introduction for *years* because I hadn't seen one until then.
Honestly, it still annoys me when people say things like: "Farfetch'd got an evolution". It didn't. Galarian farfetch'd can evolve, kanto farfetch'd is still stuck as a farfetch'd. And the same goes for all the other pokemon that "got an evolution" like qwilfish, basculin, etc. They all got regional forms that can evolve, not evolutions. I just hope that the next potential evolutions are indeed evolutions for the pokemon that gets them and not for a regional counterpart. Don't get me wrong, cross generational evolutions, regional variants and convergent evolutions are fine. But I don't like when they "give a pokemon an evolution" but in reality the original version is still stuck as what it currently is and thus also loses all hope of actually getting an evolution for a really long time just because the regional variant (that evolves into a different pokemon) can evolve and technically counts as "giving some spotlight" to that pokemon.
Stantler didn't get a regional form, it got a regional evolution that it can only have in Hisui.
@@houndofculann1793 Fixed. But come on, you get the point.
bro they didnt forget about misdreavus 😭 they made a whole paradox pokemon dedecated to it
that doesn't take away the fact that it is very wasted in its own generation
@@jondumas7723 that's true for a lot of Johto though, it needs other regions like Sinnoh, Hisui and Paldea to give justice to its own pokemons (Misdreavus, Sneasel, Stantler, Girafarig, Ursaring, etc.)
@@jondumas7723 thats honestly most johto mons out there, it still isnt really forgotten because it got additions to it post-johto, it got mismagius and it got a paradox (not to mention a really strong one)
I mean... that was outside of its own generation though, since if we use Flutter Mane as the argument, we need to use Mega Evolution in the argument too.
Larvitar being only found at the literal final route of the game makes sense to be because it was the newest pseudo-legendary,..... but why oh why was Misdreavus also only found there?! it will always baffle me why they didn't have it spawn in Sprout Tower at night instead of Gastly! Or here's another thought, why not have Houndour spawn at night in the Burnt Tower? And I would say why not Sneasel in the Ice cave but they actually did that in Crystal,.. which makes them keeping Misdreavus and Houndour in Kanto all the more baffling!
"I ship it" 💀
The Spritzee neglect makes me sad, I love that lil pink perfume bird thing
Overcompensation like in some of the cases shown inside can sometimes lead to neglect, like shown in the weird evo ways & ones that are doing so too late, like is perhaps most apparent in the case of some pseudo legendary lines & late game sets. In the case of some gimmicks, they're generally forgivable, but the other ones shown inside are just plain weird ones to neglect
17:13 true, but counter point: Geeta could easily have used Palafin instead of Veluza (and Gholdengo for Avalugg). She's the champion: if anyone was going to have rare or overpowered mons, it'd be the champion. Honestly, a cool missed opportunity would be for her to lead with Palafin, which is hard coded to used Flip Turn 1st turn of battle, and switch into Glimmora to set spikes on unsuspecting players and add pressure and a timer of sorts to beat her before your team all dies of poison. That, and I think a lot of young players would be amazed at the fact her dolphin turned into Superman when it gets set out for real later in the fight.
I thought Skarmory was a gen 3 Pokemon when I was a kid
Skarmory had it worse in Gen 2. For one reason. At least people remember Misdreavous was actually from that gen...
But that’s really only because Misdrevous isn’t in any of the Gen 3 games aside from the gamecube games, and because of HGSS’s safari zone allowing you to get Misdrevous much earlier, hell if it wasn’t for the HGSS Safari zone and the ability to change the clock on the DS i’m pretty sure people would think she’s a Gen 4 mon.
Skarmory is so rare in gen 2 I feel a lot of players might mistake it as gen 3 pokemon because of how much more prevalent it is
I get why it wasn't included, but it would've been so funny if Phoebe just had a Shedinja on her team (she also really needs the variety)
It is in her oras rematch team
Its pretty cool that one of the best pokemon in gen2 is so hidden, like imagine your friend CATCHED one and completely messed you up with it, and NOBODY in your childhood knew this thing existing and looks wierd at you until they get destroyed too.
6:29 Funfact about Skarmory that drives home your point even more. The first ever time I saw it in-game was in the Opening of Pokémon Colosseum. 9:06 About Grumpig. I used one the first time in a Sapphire Nuzlocke and it really surprised me positively. It went into my team asap in AlphaSapphire. But I do acknowledge that this is the exception of the rule.
I would add Golem in Kanto. I don’t think a single trainer has it in Red/Blue or the remakes if I’m not mistaken. The only way to see it in the original red and blue is to battles a friend who has one or get it traded to you
8:58 unless you're in a nuzlocke
Rabsca has a guaranteed tera spawn in the savannah in the Terarium a lot of rellor can be found nearby to it and rellor is incredibly common in the asado desert alongside cacnea and sandile. The titan Pokémon not being on NPC trainer teams makes perfect sense because the paradox titans specifically would be physically impossible to obtain for an NPC given that area zero travel is forbidden by the Pokémon league. Meaning only the AI professors could ever own them aside from the player.
13:16 he coming back in legends Z-a
When I encountered Chimeco in RSE as a kid, I didn’t even know it existed and thought I hit up some rare Pokémon.
Well, it IS rare, so you were right.
Yes only 2% encounter rate in a small area
Last year I caught a shiny grumpig in ultra wormhole on my birthday.I was happy and excited that I got a shiny that day but immediately realised it was grumpig💀
Isn't mr mime also non obtainable unless you trade?
Yes, and Jynx too.
Pinsir indeed had a purpose and it's was to be a rare and elusive mon, keep in mind that satoshi tajiri was an avid bug catcher, bug catching was the main inspiration of satoshi to create pokemon and for a Japanese bug catcher stag beetles (along side rinoceros beetles) are the ultimate catch that's why pinsir is such a rare pokemon, is to evoque the same feelings satoshi provably had after encounter a real stag beetle
gen 9 I think it is ghouldango. Rellor is SO common and is EVERYWHERE at a popular location being by the betting place. I have accidently found 3 shiny ones because they are SO COMMON! also glimmet can be found outside area zero but its evolved form is important there too. So I think even though people believe them to be rare, you can see the full line and even catch them before you go to area zero.
I will not take any Grumpig slander here. Ain’t no messin’ with da pig!
You know a mon is forgotten when even a video about forgotten mons doesn't mention them. I feel like Seel and Dewgong are more fitting for the gen 1 slot here, since Farfetch'd at least got a regional form. Seel and Dewgong are probably one of the only gen 1 mons to not get _any_ attention from GF.
At least Lorelei used a Dewgong in Gen 1.
Nah, you're wrong about Rellor but not Rabsca, at least for the main game. Maybe Rellor has a rare encounter rate like you say, but if you explore just a bit casually you will easily come across it and it's quite small so in my experience it was an accidental encounter quite often like Azuril or Scatterbug in the early game. I'd also add that Rellor isn't overshadowed by the pawmot line since Bramblin has the same gimmick so they are really a trio where non of them overshadow the others really.
Hakamo-o is at least accounted for in the Sun and Moon demo, where it is the totem pokemon in the trial you get to play that's exclusive to the demo
I feel like a few of these were included to get exactly the comment I am about to make: Pinser was given a mega evolution. And mismagius was given an evolution in a later game and that was 2 different leaders ace pokemon...
Skarmory being on Jasmine's team wouldnt make sense since it would give her the means to fly to Cianwood and get medicine for her Ampharos. By extension I guess they wanted to make the pokemon as rare as possible so that evem a Steel type gym leader would have trouble finding one.
Skarmory had it worse. Atleast no one questions what gen misdrevus is from. But so many people including myself thought skarmory was a gen 3 mon.
You know what's funny, when you talk about gen 2 there is zero mention of Tyranitar, a pokemon who isn't on any trainer's team until the Fire Red/ Leaf Green champion rematch team.
It’s interesting how many of these either a) still went on to be competitively relevant, and even dominating, in their own generations; and b) got evolutions or special forms that pulled them out of irrelevance and into competitive stardom. Chansey, Skarmory, Ferrothorn as someone else mentioned, Arctovish, Flutter Mane: my first pokemon experience was watching YT videos and then learned the types through Showdown, and even I know the impact they’ve had & continue to have. (Also have to mention Huntail is one of my top 5 favorite pokemon, Relicanth is in my top 10, and I really hope they come back with a new _something_ someday…but I’m not really counting on it. :/ They really strike that depressing balance of being equally ignored by both GF and the community.)
The Alola pseudo-legend dragons, believe it or not, I struggled to catch them with guides too! Even if I tried to get any evo stage! I maybe got unlucky but had to give up on it after a point. I totally agree with your point there!
You were just unlucky, assuming you caught a pseudo RAW before (no trading nor breeding, they don’t count). Pseudo-legendaries always had low catch-rates (among other things, except Slow EXP Group for Duraludon, which is instead Medium-Fast) Beldum family being the only one with a catch-rate much lower than 45, to the point it’s even comparable to actual legendaries. Combine that with the fact for the longest time it only had Take Down (a recoil) and it’s one of the most infamous pokémon to shiny hunt in gen 7.
I'm quite sure even until to date, some people think Slugma and Skarmory are Gen3 Pokemon, because they are way more common in Gen3 games.
Totodile not being available in more games should be a crime.
In SoulSilver they actually help Misdreavus by making it obtainable in Safari Zone and I went out of my way to catch one to use during my Kanto run. Idk if it still hardcounters Reds team in this version but that would certainly help seeing as I actually havent finished my SoulSilver Kanto run at the time of this comment.
That Fairy Godparents bit got me good 😂😂
I can say that I was one of those kids back in gen 2 that (probably) never caught a skarmory in its debut gen. It got so bad that I thought it was a gen 3 pokemon for a while.
who else remembers the original reason for Misdreavus's Mt Silver spawn? moreso back when it was spawning outside below Mt Silver...
8:38 Grumpig also appears on Will's Elite 4 rematch team in HGSS.
Unrelated but it will never not bother me how Mismagius isn't a Fairy type. Especially since they decided to make it's Paradox Form, Flutter Mane into one instead..
I remember that when I was trying to complete the regional dex in Diamond, the only Pokemon I was missing was Wormadam and I was going crazy fibning the one trainer that I missed that had it.
Misdreavus and its evolution is one of my big faves (Screw what people say about stats, mine is the only reason I beat Cynthia by using Perish Song on Garchomp, and held out without fainting during that battle) I wish it got more love in the games, its design is the perfect mix of creepy and cute, and every pokemon game I've had in the last decade, my champion team has always had a misdreavus or mismagius on it.
one sinnoh pokemon that doesn't get enough representation imo is drifloon, due to it only being on 1 team from a trainer in fantina's gym. and its only found on friday of all days. granted, its a static encounter, so hard to miss, but still.
I am going to be honest, as someone who only played johto through HGSS, I thought skarmory was a gen 3 pokemon who was added to the johto dex in the remake. I did not realise it was gen 2 pokemon till you said it
Can we have less ambiguous title for this vid? Thought I was clicking on a vid akin to “Pokémon who’ve still to receive special notice, treatment, or buffs in later gens”. What we got was “Pokémon who are rare in the gen they are in introduced in”.
I'll be perfectly honest I always thought Skarmory was a gen 3 Pokémon since u find it on route 113 and since Steven and Winona both use one. I never knew when I was little that it was actually a gen 2 Pokémon 😅
AFK would sponsor the squashed rats on the NYC subway tracks
That thumbnail art Morty is so funny 😂
A pokemon out of hundreds doesn't appear in three generation the community : GAME FREAK IS LITERALLY NOT REMEMBERING THIS POKEMON NAME EVER AGAIN
I’ve genuinely never seen a Dolliv in the wild. I didn’t even know it could appear in the wild
To make matters worse about Skarmory, it’s one of only six steel types available in Johto. Why it’s a version exclusive to compliment *Gligar* of all Pokémon, I have no idea
Actually, Mantine is Skarmory's version exclusive counterpart. No trainers used Mantine or Skarmory in GSC.
I literally thought Skarmory was introduced in Ruby and Sapphire for over a decade
Farfetch'd got a Regional Form and Evolution in Galar. So it was not forgotten.
Hilariously a lot of people I've met think skatmory is a gen 3 not gen 2 because it's so rare into but not in Ruby and Sapphire
Is there any trainer in RSE that has a Corphish in their teams? In RS, I'm pretty sure no trainer has a Phanpy or Donphan in their teams, I'd say the same thing about GSC. Speaking of RS, no trainer had a Crawdaunt or a Kingdra outside of Battle Tower, until Emerald fixed it. ...and yes it's pretty dumb that the new Pokémon that you see battle facilities aren't registered in your Pokédex as seen Pokémon, especially if you want to memorize their cries by spamming them in the Pokédex.
I don’t know if you would count the regional form and paradox version or not but my point is how can they forget them by giving them a new look? Oh sure those are the pokemon that were designed in the early days of this franchise when devs only cared about their inspiration and creativity and ignore the uses of them in-game. However they can never fix something belonging to legacies. Otherwise, the games’ll be messed up. All GF could do is to give those pokemons the better versions of themselves.
On the topic of Skarmory a good follow up video idea could be Pokémon mistaken for other generations like we know the obvious examples of thinking Skarmory, Slugma and Magcargo are gen 3 Pokémon another example is Roselia I keep thinking that's a gen 4 Pokémon due to -the pre evolution and evolution being added that gen -roserade being used by Barry, Gardenia and freaking Cynthia -much more accessible in Sinnoh -only being used on Wallys very underwhelming gen 3 team (the same team with a freaking delcatty)
Misdreavus received a cross gen evo in Mismagius and then a completely broken paradox form. Little spooper's doing just fine.
