Follow along as I install a myenergy Eddi solar diverter. This video shows how I mounted and wired up an Eddi to work with my Mixergy smart hot water tank.
I'm slowly getting the hang of editing these videos together, but I'm still a novice. If you have any suggestions, I welcome feedback!

  • Great video and the one I have been waiting to find on youtube so thanks. When doing this Eddi mod did you lose any of the features of the mixergy tank ? Can you still let a % for the tank to heat or does the Eddi take over and just heat the whole tank ?

    • Thanks. Glad you found it useful. The % target is still used by the tank itself, but once the sun is shining, the Eddi will keep heating until the element’s thermostat cuts off. For example, I set the target temp to 50 and have it sweet to charge to 60% each morning. When it’s really sunny, the Eddi heats the tank to 100%. The next morning, the Mixergy does nothing as there might still be 95% of the water at the target temp. It’s not perfect though. The first few sunny days saw the water heat to 75!! I had to adjust the safety cut off. I’m looking at having a mixing valve added to the tank so if the water is heated to 75 it’s not a problem for my small children.

    • Mixergy make their own Solar Diverter, which I suppose works better with their tank, bit as I have a Zappi, I though the Eddi would be a better fit.
