The first lap of the The Old Gray GNCC race in Monterey, TN. The was an all new course and location for the GNCC series. There was a lot of rain on Thursday and Friday before the race. The course dried up for the most part, but some areas held water and the rocks stayed slick. The was not my best race, but a good experience.
What a rough course! Gripping the bars through those rocks, roots, and ruts would have shredded my hands into hamburger! With no smooth sections, its stop to recoup. Of course you could take a breather if you find yourself on the ground. And talk about crowded! The number of bikes on the trail looked comparable to Atlanta at rush hour. Just making it to the finish is commendable. Great job!
It was rough, and the rocks were slick. Yea, I usually don't like field sections, but some smooth ground would have been nice.
