If you haven't listened to the full episode (link in description), you're missing out! Chris Ryan has the record for the longest escape and evasion in British SAS history! 🇳🇺
Mans giving out secrets to the taliban on your podcast. If I was in that situation the female interrogator would say "Wow, it's freezing outside and you're still packing 9 girthy inches"
In world military history mate balls of British steel to do what Chris Ryan went through and survived and then carried on with the regiment after they left him for dead now thats soldiering
They had to do that because of Ryan's decision's and incompetence, I'm astounded that anyone reads or listens to him at all.Why don't we insert ourselves into the Iraqi desert with no way of escaping because we are on foot. The only team leader to adopt this method. He should have been court martialed, never mind writing book's.
@@vincentfoxall5704 What books are you selling?
Believe it or not, I've been asked, But you never shit on mate's,Even shite who kill their mate's with laughable plan's,Some people are that thick expertise is worth nothing without common sense,.
i cant believe it. Chris Ryan?! When i was a kid I read all of his books. its like a dream come true. my favourite author.
His podcast with James English is on here. It’s mega..
Gay
Spoiler alert, he doesn’t actually write them 🤦♂️
@@ct_gzy561: Good for you, for finally coming out. 👍😉
Andy McNab was the other one I read back then Bravo two zero And Chris' : The one that got away
I listened to the full episode today and loved the bit when he gave the little lad the books and years later he met him in a pub and he was a staff Sgt in the SAS.
This was such a great episode! His stories are fascinating. Such a great guest!
Love the podcasts boys! Keep it up 👍🏼
Such a great podcast, and an amazing story!
Little one but the images you showed whilst the chap was describing were really helpful. Cheers for adding them in!
Class pod this, great story teller
Its crazy what these people go through. Respect ❤️🇬🇧
A lot of his story is embellished

@@Blokilicious there really not mate I've met Chris a few times while in the royal marines and he's a very wise polite and helpful person full of tips he's a top bloke and when he speaks to you about his time you can see on his face he's not lying
@@BlokiliciousThey really aren't. Every ex-SAS man tells the same stories about selection.
What a bloke, loved this episode of the pod 👌🏻
Chris Ryan is a legend
Yeesssssss what a boyo i love chris hes so inspirational
Awesome interview. Kind of weird seeing "HAPPY HOUR" pop up as the podcast name for this interview being my first experience with the podcast, but really cool interview.
Thanks mate! Hope you can stick around :)
Wow can't believe you got Chris Ryan. definitely going to listen to The full podcast as a teenager I read all of his books him and Andy McNab were my favourite authors
Are Chris and Andy still not on the best terms?
The mans as hard as they come. Unbeatable.
Brilliant story teller and brilliant writer. Been a fan of his since I was a kid with the Alpha force book series and then his array of adult novels. What a fucking bloke.
4:43 - You most certainly are drowning during water boarding. It might be slower than if you were submerged but you are drowning.
Waterboarding absolutely can kill you, and has killed numerous prisoners
respect
Respect.
Best of the best, tough and self motivated, there's a reason why so many fail and only a few pass,
There is a lot about UKSF Selection mentioned by a lot of forner SF soldiers. Nit much is known or mentioned about this final phase. It is most likely the most closely guarded aspect of Selection. Many people who have made outstanding times on the hills and/or displayed quintisential solidering skills in the jungle have fell short during this final phase. Imagine all of that effort, 5-6 months disolving in an instant. It goes to illustrate how SF members must as mentally robust as they are physically.
Yah. Most people can train for fitness or aquire the skills if they work hard. Being able to get through sleep deprivation and interrogation is something else entirely. These SF guys are a different breed. Uk SF usually aren't muscle bound and just look like normal people. From what I've been told anyway. I never served.
@@paulwalsh6734 I only served in the RAF for 20 years. I met some SF lads and had a mate for a while who was ex 22. I think they must be amsued by the 'god like' staus they are viewed by. The guys I met came in all shapes and sizes and some you would never have beloved they were SF operators if your life depended on it. Humble, funny, kind, quietly confident and an intrisic intelligence....naybe not high IQs type intelligence but the ability to take on complex information quickly.
I thought this guys accent sounded familiar. He's from my neck of the woods! What What SAS have to go through is intense. Respect to all of them.
Aye, he's from Consett. I'm sure it wasn't his fault, though. 😉
@@THE-BUNKEN-DRUM hahahah
I saw on another video with a former CIA employee that the "lie detector" test is also used to identify topics that are potentially sensitive or inflammatory to the interviewee. Whether it's a lie or not, comes down to subsequent questioning by the interrogator; but it can also be used to figure out further lines of questioning/pressure points etc.
Know this guy from Ultimate Force. Didn’t know he was the real deal. Mental stuff
@KarmaaFN F/A
That guy stuck a mars bar up my arse and I had to retake that test 33 times before I finally passed
The into is quite the switch. "you're at 45 degrees your back is breaking your hands are breaking..... HAPPY HOUR PODCAST"!
He is from my village, absolute hero. Watch his James English interview, really good!
And next up on Happy Hour: Waterboarding Techniques.
Jack had to ask about water boarding twice lol
@4:20 you guys realise that photo you pulled off Google somewhere has the White House in the background right? 😂
Best special forces on the planet 🇬🇧
Chris was on Dartmoor with us years ago while we helped the filming of his TV show.
With friends like that who needs enemies!
"If they catch you get whats called ""field interrogation"" where they beat the shit out of you" lol
'Happy Hour'
all sounds like lunacy
I'm glad he admits that the Interrogation training was hard, too many mug it off as a piece of piss!! One thing, though is that all the instructors now have to carry out all types of Interrogation... Water boarding is a load of shit, it's not an Interrogation method
Thought you weren't supposed to divulge any secrets? Lol.
I don't care what anyone says, the regiment should revise their interrogation techniques. They need to move all selection candidates into my flat and live next door to two Brummies. It's hell on earth. Just having to listen to that accent for more than 5 minutes...that will weed a few out I can tell you.
Someone’s had there teeth done hahaha
THIRTY SIX HOURS...... good grief, having been out and about trying not to get caught for DAYS. No thank you.
Good Lad!!! Has trouble telling the truth, that’s all.😏
My brothers had a Dad and his uncle was ex SAS and the story goes he had a removable head. One for the SAS and one for his normal life. I once saw a video of him taking one off but he couldn't find the other one. Not sure if it was real.
a removable head?
@@Vincent-vn7xo he was made of lego
Was his name wurzel gummidge by any chance
Where’s the full vid ?
As a British person myself, this is probably the first British person who I can say that I like their accent.
Pointless comment
😂
Whats the goal at the end is to be in the GOAT Regiment SAS/SBS 👍
36 hours away from my mrs bliss !!!!
How do you watch the full thing not just listen
I know its so annoying
As long as you know the people doing the waterboarding know what they're doing.
I used to play cards with a couple of sbs lads in Gibraltar in the George& dragon pub,I worked in the captains cabin pub at the time& smuggled hash in from Morocco too😂…9-11 stopped all that though😏
Mad it sounds exactly like what they do I SAS who dares wins on channel 4
Yeah, but thats my secret cap, im always tired.
Take over countries with just a handful of these guys! Infact they have
Yup. I've been through all of this. I wonder if he is talking about the same SERE program I went to and was briefly an instructor at? If I recall - USAF SERE trains all advanced NATO forces. I noticed the same with the "aeromedical training school" I went to (and received the "distinguished graduate award" from). Water Boarding is OVER RATED. Not hard at all. He's right. The SLEEP DEPRIVATION is the absolute worst torture a human can go through.
Aye ok gi joe🤫
He's talking about SAS selection. Which is the UK tier 1 special forces selection. So I doubt you did the same course. Something similar but doubt the normal SERE course is anything like what these guys go through.
Nor would you have been an instructor. The instructors will all be specialists for that course.
Bottom of the line is self control
8:07 did he say he failed SAS selection?
You can fail it you get three chances if you fail a third time it’s done foxy failed it Christian craighead who ran in to the Nairobi shopping complex failed it twice passed on the third go
No, he is saying the motivation to go through and finish the training stems from not wanting to fail SAS selection
It can kill you, the shortnes of breath! I study torture. I know how to get things done!
Fiona is a legend
I have a personal friend that was SAS in Csqdn Rhodesia until liberation in 1980 . To this day he still does not reveal what went on . He keeps everything secret as it should be. I think these guys are faulty by revealing these facts.
What facts as you call them has he revealed that would have any impact or could jeopardise the safety of the special forces operatives we all know the type of things that they go through
There’s a massive difference between discussing what went on during an operation and discussing a public knowledge aspect of selection
Madness that Chris Ryan joined the SAS at the age of 16 before having any prior military experience
You do not join the SAS at 16, at that age he would have been a boy soldier. He would become a soldier at 17.5/18 years, done a few years as a normal soldier before he e went on selection
assumably you mean your grandfather served in the allied administration of Libya rather than the war a decade ago?
Wait huh, what’s this??!
Steve Bruce
You ain't catching me Mush ! Boom im dead! Tarra Mush
Super Army Soldiers.
This is nothing compared to what the FSB did to people in Chechnya and Ukraine
Why would you want to be in the SAS? Baffling. I would fail in 30 seconds.

“Drownding”??
I think some parts of the UK use this word. Drownded is the past tense of drowned so drownding is apparently a word. Sounds stupid though 🤣
@@jsimmos8844 Wtf you on about? No parts of the UK use that as an actual word. And drowned is the past tense of to drown. "Drownded" is just a mistake like people who say "nucular" or whatever else.
@@AD-kv9kj look it up. Drownded was used a long time ago and some people still use it. Some scottish people use Drount apparently 🤣. But like I said it sounds stupid and very outdated. Like you say, it does sound like something a 6 year old would say because they can't say Drowned properly 🤣
To me all people will talk just tape up the mouth and close the nose for say one minute and believe me you will talk....lol if that does not work just increase the nose time

See ever since you guys had Atwood on I can’t get into these types of episodes because I just don’t believe them. Atwood was a proved bullshitter 🤷♂️
Do you even know who Chris Ryan is? This guy has literally been to hell and back and survived to tell the story!
