In this week's episode of Minutes With, we sat down with the brilliant 'Big Phil' Campion, a former SAS soldier. Phil walks us through the notorious selection process for the SAS, his time serving on the private circuit in Iraq and Afghanistan, and his stint fighting pirates off the coast of Somalia.

    • @@NWO2023he'd obviously smash being a bootneck but doing the commando course doesn't make you one. Phil isn't a compulsive liar so I'm not talking about him here but It's like when Ant Middleton goes around lying about being in the Paras when he went nowhere fucking near them. He was as much a para as a fucking traffic warden is. He did p coy as a sapper and then goes around jibbing he was a para. Obviously he could do depot easily but the point I'm making is doing the arduous courses doesn't make you one of them even if by virtue of being sf you could clearly smash being anything else.

  • Phil is a great guy. I'm now 37, however when I was 19, saw him in the local pub called the fox and hounds. Run by a lovely lady called sue... I had completed training after 6 weeks with the TA (nothing great, I know) but, it was great to me. The reason why I did it was because the burst of the Internet and media about Phil. He's such a positive character and an impact on me. I was shocked and wished I approached him.... I may have times and dates wrong, but I was still young and still to this day admire him. I even saw him 2 years ago walking along the local river, wish I stopped the car and said hello

    • “Nothing great, I know” is bollocks mate. You’ve done a whole lot more than I - and 99% of the country - have ever been arsed to do, so hats off to you for it. Should be proud of it nonetheless. I once asked Big Phil (on one of his weekly live streams a couple of years back) for his thoughts, coz I was looking to retrain as an officer in the Intelligence Corps, and he did give a bit of decent, down to earth, no-nonsense advice. Was partly due to his advice that I decided to chin it off, remain a civie, and get a nice, warm, office job instead 😂 (And embarrassingly, just had a bit of fun on weekends cutting about in the woods with airsoft guns and a group of lads that should have known better 😅 ) So, if you do bump into him again at some point, please pass on my thanks for that. 😅
