Great job thanks for having me
@@SASBigPhil,one of the most interesting interviews I've ever watched, I'm definitely getting your book 👍👍
#SASBigPhil met him in Arnhem a few years back I'm ex 2 para and also worked on the ships doing the anti piracy stuff off Somalia ...lovely bloke ....took a selfie with him but realised I had left the timer on ....awkward 10 sec wait for the timer to tick down.....think he thought this guy must be a Walt 😂 top bloke
Your enthusiasm in the COP on the Omagh tour encouraged me to follow in similar footsteps. Will always be grateful to have worked with you@@SASBigPhil
I’m only a couple of mins in but this guys enthusiasm is legendary
Yeah I cracked up when he said you get "gucci things and gucci guns" xD
Have you never seen him before hes all over youtube doing these exact video
Was gonna say something similar don’t need to now
Phil Campion is the master of stories
Read his autobiography it’s really good
The fact this man served in not only the Army but also the SAS and upon leaving had to resort to claiming a crisis loan is disgusting of this country. They should be given more support when leaving.
He passed out of the Royal Marines, as well as the paras and SAS. Hes done them all.
Story of a Veterans Life
@@NWO2023he did his all arms commando course, didn’t actually join the marines.
@@NWO2023he'd obviously smash being a bootneck but doing the commando course doesn't make you one. Phil isn't a compulsive liar so I'm not talking about him here but It's like when Ant Middleton goes around lying about being in the Paras when he went nowhere fucking near them. He was as much a para as a fucking traffic warden is. He did p coy as a sapper and then goes around jibbing he was a para. Obviously he could do depot easily but the point I'm making is doing the arduous courses doesn't make you one of them even if by virtue of being sf you could clearly smash being anything else.
@@me5969 The difference between him and this guy is this guy definitely seems more honest when it comes to his story. I don't think a liar would mention the fact that they were offered a crossing guard position and all that after being SAS lol
What a belting person he is, love to buy him a pint and to chat with him and to thank him for his service.
Same here mate, would love a few pints and a natter with this bloke. That would be awesome.
You wouldn’t even have to talk! He would tell you a story beyond belief! Dudes energy is immaculate!
@@Zizzle-sg1qg He can talk the head of a 10 pence piece
Much love brother. So many similarities on our upbringing.
Stop that americanism bs.
His energy is amazing. I love this guy.
Calm down
So much respect for him being honest about Somalia and their fishing waters being polluted on purpose…
That’s why the Somali people get mad and pirates exist. It’s unfair their waters are being polluted by Europeans
Not polluted - stolen - that’s his point
@@anthonyforrester3539 what are they stealing? They’re purposely polluting their water with containers of waste, cause they won’t get with the US regime.
China
@alteredbeast7145 yeah, they have been overfishing those waters for decades now.
I’m Somali so I clicked on this video straight away and I loved this guys energy from the get go and I was very curious to hear what he had to say about Somalia. He actually put a smile on my face because he mentioned the truth about the Situation. They were given no choice.
Yeah I’d never heard about the fishing situation. Fair play to the guys if they are desperate. It’s a dog eat dog world. Respect to you mate
I really appreciated that he made that point too!
And the ships have no choice when they smoke Simolians. Truly a shit situation
@@scottywalker2605yea they do and they never smoked anyone
@@theshed3641they also dumped toxins
This guy needs a podcast or a channel. I could listen to him tell stories ALL DAY.
He has one, it’s called force radio
@@mattcorkindale8168 Great, thank you!
This guy is incredible. Imagine going for a pint with him. The stories he could tell. Absolutely amazing.
I know him peronaly and can tell you out on the piss is different class mate
Yeah, like how many civilians he killed…
It would be amazing
"Everything in the jungle wants you dead! Even the instructors" 😂😂😂 burst out laughing, what a legend!
Phil is a great guy. I'm now 37, however when I was 19, saw him in the local pub called the fox and hounds. Run by a lovely lady called sue... I had completed training after 6 weeks with the TA (nothing great, I know) but, it was great to me. The reason why I did it was because the burst of the Internet and media about Phil. He's such a positive character and an impact on me. I was shocked and wished I approached him.... I may have times and dates wrong, but I was still young and still to this day admire him. I even saw him 2 years ago walking along the local river, wish I stopped the car and said hello
“Nothing great, I know” is bollocks mate. You’ve done a whole lot more than I - and 99% of the country - have ever been arsed to do, so hats off to you for it. Should be proud of it nonetheless. I once asked Big Phil (on one of his weekly live streams a couple of years back) for his thoughts, coz I was looking to retrain as an officer in the Intelligence Corps, and he did give a bit of decent, down to earth, no-nonsense advice. Was partly due to his advice that I decided to chin it off, remain a civie, and get a nice, warm, office job instead 😂 (And embarrassingly, just had a bit of fun on weekends cutting about in the woods with airsoft guns and a group of lads that should have known better 😅 ) So, if you do bump into him again at some point, please pass on my thanks for that. 😅
All who serve deserve respect no matter what your role. Without the cog, nothing gets done.
"Life is not a rehearsal." One of the best sayings I've heard.
He's that one guy at the local pub where he has spent at least a couple of hours every single day for the past twenty years, who talks without interruption, telling stories, cracking jokes, taking the piss, and everybody happily lets him. Some people are like that, they couldn't stop themselves from being the center off attention, even if they wanted, that's just their natural element, and everybody is richer for it! :)
I thought I had my video set to 1.25x speed! But genuinely wish more people spoke with this speed and enthusiasm. I bet everyone wants to go to the pub with him…
Makes me proud to be British 🇬🇧 ❤
I've been lucky enough to work with a couple of his old colleagues who also took part in Operation Barras, those sorts of people emit the most incredible mental energy and are an absolute joy to work with! I've never been in the Armed Forces (worked with them in the ambulance service) but they are really top blokes.
Phil Campion is a collosus of Survival, Determination & Enthusiasm. His relentless optimism is GOLD. Great Bloke. He's been there, done that & headbutted the t-shirt
As an american i always thought the seals, UDT were the best of the best and then i read up and looked into the SAS. Much respect from across the pond boys. Cheers.
Fantastic interview. Very interesting man, true inspiration.
Could listen to this guy for hours! I bet he’s got loads of awesome stories. Thank you for your service 👌🏻
Phil's uncle is Jimmy White, the snooker player. I'm a fan of both. Could listen Phil talk for hours.
Haha thanks for the info.
What an amazing gentleman, I was captivated listening to him. One of the best guests you have had on your channel and where you find them is a feat in itself.
Big Phil’s book born fearless is the only book I read from start to finish of the age of around 16. I loved it. This is what inspired me (along with friends and family) to join the forces. I have since left but I still keep big Phil’s life advise at the forefront of my mind in my current career. Cheers Phil. Although we’ve never met. I owe you one
The audibook version in so good mate!! Never stopped laughing the whole way through. He tells it like he is in this video. Just completely raw and real. The best listen!
@@civvy2commando417🤣🤣 I’m going to order it haha.

Massive respect to big Phil and all of our service people, past and present. 🙏
Thanks big man. Means a lot. Coming out of my own mental illness and listening to that is the real world.
This bloke is the real life Black Knight from Monty Python. He’s funny, full of enthusiasm and nothing will stop him. Legend.

Omg this guy is contagious! What a legend. Love your infectious outlook on life.
Great interview!!! His passion is contagious
Thank you, Phil, just thank you. I really needed this video. Thank you so much! God bless you!!
I absolutely LOVE Phil. He is such a massive inspiration to me. I would highly recommend his books, (I listened to them via Audible). If you think SAS selection is hard, you should hear about his childhood. The books are unbelievably honest and at times, they'll bring a tear to your eye. I have nothing but respect for Phil, pre service, active service and post service. A real gem of a human and I wish him and his family all the best moving forward. X
IDGAF About hearing about his childhood, hearing about AND reading about My Dad's Childhood was bad enough. What he and his Brothers (My Uncles) was fucking horrendous!!!!!.
@@Scree1972 I'm sorry to hear this.

This guy has an amazing way of looking at things and his way of communicating his history is great. He seems like such a down to Earth friendly guy.
Thanks to Phil for his invaluable piece of advice at the end! It's so much needed now.
Had the pleasure of meeting big Phil. Truly such a genuine down to Earth friendly chap. Could listen to him share his stories for hours, and he always has time for people military or not.
Big Phil is f-ing awesome! Absolutely love his personality & positivity especially in the face of adversity and his advice at the end, is spot on.
No matter what he has done, which is obviously plenty. I just know I would enjoy a pint with this fella discussing anything at all. Military service has suited him well and the rest of us. Thank You Big Phil

Thanks Phil, needed this today.
I have had the accolade of meeting this fine man, hands like shovels, and has exactly the same tempremant. Well done good sir, an inspiration on all levels.
This was great, I recognised the name from the documentary he references. The guy has so much enthusiam and is probably one of, if not the best story teller from the armed forces. The way he recites his past is funny, captivating, enthusiatic, chilling and perhaps more importantly, real; at the same time. We need more people like Phil on TV. Im sure kids in school would much rather listen to Phil give advice than some Love Island reject... Phil you have my utmost respect for your service and your story. Thankyou.
What a fantastic bloke - just love the Phil's of the world. Salt of the Earth.
Love this man. Som many of us owe so much to men like him. Thank you mate ❤

Phil is an absolute gent, really fantastic story teller and public speaker. Saw him give talks on a P&O cruise I was on going around the Mediterranean back in 2018 I believe. Stayed afterwards to shake hands with people and sign his book. A real advertisement for the forces
