Imagine being in Norway alone in the middle of nowhere. , You look around you and everything white with all that snow. Except on the brow of a distant hill, is row of what looks like...moustaches.
Never underestimate the power of the moustache 😂😂
Very 70’s moustaches at that…lol…😊

To be fair the fantastic series Behind The Lines (Royal Marines) has a higher Moustache Count but I will give the SAS credit for quality. 🤣
Had an older brother who served with the SAS in the 60s in Malaya , Borneo , and Aden , Told me of parachuting into the jungles in Malaya and absailing down the trees !! , Living for weeks off the land ,, was immensely proud of him , sadly passed away , rest in peace bro !
I love these old documentaries. No BS, clear and concise commentary and synthesised music!
Absolutely,no messing about, there’s some really good British Army documentary’s on BBC archives from the 1980’s which is filmed in a similar way
Ah the Cold war of the 80s when times were simpler😂😂😂
have you seen the Royal Marines arctic warfare cadre one from the early 80's? The best series like. this.
This isn't a documentary, it was a training film for the armed forces to advertise SF. I remember being shown this late 80's. It was classified as secret , so wasn't released in civvy street
@mkrbrtsn1 Yep, one of the best I've seen. Up there with 'The Paras'.
I can't recall who said it but the most amusing response I have heard in a documentary was when a SAS veteran was asked if he was on the Iranian Embassy job in 1980; he replied "No, but I've met 3000 people who were." Referring, of course to the number of wannabe's out there. Well done guys and thank you for your service.

It's hard to believe that those guys were probably in their late 20s or early 30s. They all look older! Much respect to our elite forces.
I met both SAS and SBS at STANTA just before the Iraq War in 2003. They were all very young, mostly in their early to late twenties. (I remember saying that to the Labourers at the camp). A part from their massive back muscles - they looked just like any other soldier. SFs is a young mans game.
They look much older because they ate crap food and smoked twenty fags a day. John Mac smoked twenty in an hour !

All they want is fitness, determination, and the will to continue doing that, you're selected, and then the real work begins.
You can be the most skilled, fittest , determined, intelligent, man on planet earth, but if you’re unable to grow a particular looking moustache you’re just not going to cut the mustard 😂
Nice 👍😂
Bless … that made me laugh .. those particular moustaches at that time belonged to Royal Marines .. as being part of the Navy they weren’t allowed to grow beards , because of all the different masks required so they had moustaches .. a particular moustache .. I understand what you are saying. However, I disagree politely. Why do I disagree with you? Because nobody should be volunteering for an outfit like the SAS purely or mostly for money. Doing that would change the whole vibe of the unit. You volunteer for the SAS because it looks interesting, you like adventure and because you believe in what you are doing... idealistic.

Unfortunately as time goes on I think we are all blind to the truth. I do believe that, all of china thinks they are the righteous and accepting of what they see on TV same as Russia same as errrrr Poland UK USA. How can we accept anything we have ever been taught or led to believe as fact. Here's a fact, imagine how lucky you are, in some countries if you own a TV you by law (prison time if you get caught) have to pay a government tax for a licence that pays for the state broadcaster, then the news is also dictated by the government and countless times has been found to be aware that what they are reporting is incorrect. This country by the way is the UK yep great Britain you pay a tax for the BBC which is now openly militant left.

SAS the elite, you never know a who they are until it’s too late. Brilliant! 👍👍
I find it hugely ironic that this video has dropped into my recommended list today, 16 November 2023, as there have been further accusations against the SAS being made by the inquiry into the activities of the SAS in Iraq 🇮🇶 and Afghanistan 🇦🇫 concerning deaths of allegedly unarmed and underage civilians. I served in the British military for 24 years and went into countries where it was possible that I could have ended up in combat, and we were always given the strictest rules of engagement, we were never allowed to open fire upon any individual or group unless we were under effective fire first or we had a high degree of certainty that we were about to come under effective fire, but we had to give a verbal warning first, in other words WE had to play by the Geneva Convention but the ENEMY didn’t, we could face disciplinary proceedings if we broke the rules, the enemy did whatever they wanted with impunity. The Government send military personnel into war and conflict zones and expect them to either take responsibility for the region and maintain peace or have a stand up, knockdown fight with our enemies, but then completely tie their hands by restricting how such a fight was conducted, then complain it is taking to long to complete the mission, and when soldiers inadvertently or deliberately act to hasten the process they vilify our forces and allow our enemies to sue them for compensation and form enquires to try and find evidence of our forces going beyond the rules of war, the very same rules of war our enemy didn’t even know existed, and even if they did they would not and did not comply with, they use every dirty tactic and methods to kill our troops but they still end up pretending they are the victims of our military using the tactics we are ordered to comply with, and that is our own government throwing our military personnel under the bus so that our politicians can cover their collective arses from any international scrutiny, and all whilst our military are dying in wars and conflicts that the very same politicians sent them to fight, and to me they are cowards and constantly betray our military personnel.
Well interesting video
The selection success rate has dropped massively since this video. Probably due to the increased amount trying. 15% mentioned in this vid. It’s now about 2-3%
I would be really interested to see if timed distances with weight were quicker slower or similar today than they were back then. Its just a guess but I think that the modern soldier is physically fitter than a soldier of the 70s or 80s.Back then the food wasn't as healthy and second hand smoke and emitions were far more common than they are today. As we all know through the books and vids today the older soldier would probably say does the modern soldier have the toughness or determination of the older soldiers?I would give that to the older decades soldier, so it probably all evens out.I would still love to see the timings It .would just be interesting. 👍👍
@@shaundavenport621 good point. I know that the weather and other aspects have a significant effect on timings so they don’t have a timed cutoff any more. They have to keep up with the DS.
