    • @TheMazo02 It looks like "system in box" speakers to me and they're certainly not worth restoring. Maybe if you live in some place where there's no better options, but even then, it just doesn't worth it. These speakers are garbage. Restored or not.

  • Amazing job of restoring these speakers. It just goes to show anything can be brought back with some talent and hard work. These speakers are probably better than they were new now!

    @splender88@splender886 ай бұрын
    • Well first of all these speakers were cheap when they first came out. I know because I’ve rebuilt them quite a few times They’re not worth this extreme effort. A basic fix is about all they are worth. Gold paint doesn’t make things sound better. Second, the rebuild of the drivers was wrong. They didn’t shim the coils to assure true alignment. The Re-edging of the woofer doesn’t take two people. As long as the coil Was in good shape, it wasn’t worth the time and cost to remove the cone assemble and paint. There is a good chance these speakers will Distort as soon as they are blasted. Finally, was an AB test done to assure the speakers match? You do have components in that crossover that can go bad. So An AB test is mandatory. the job looks nice and clean, I’ll give them credit for that. but I have to be blunt. They basically polished a turd. Now maybe in that area of the world, those Speakers are a win, but new, they were cheap shelf pieces at your local circuit city.

    • Indeed .. most of these old 70's speakers with mostly paper cone speakers (and lots off'em) is pure junk, but they might actually turn out to sound better than the original when reconed with better materials. And I gotta say even many of these videos look like some phillipine street workers, they actually look quite skilled at what they do and often the results look quite professional

  • Those enclosures looks pretty well constructed.. With a little extra bracing and some decent damping fabric ( or foam ) Would be capable of sounding pretty sweet & detailed.. HOWEVER, EVERYTHING ELSE IS ONLY FIT FOR THE BIN hence 1st step would be to cut out that face panel And bin that overly complex driver set. Next: Clean up the cabinets and re-veneer them. Construction a replacement face panel Equipped with either a 3 way, ( or 2way ) system, complemented by a custom built crossover .. ( 2way system, ie duel woffer/low mids with center Tweeter) _--------_ Whole new system, reusing attractive vintage cabinets 😊 Take a look at the attention to detail that goes into their " Line Array Pro " construction project..

To most it just seems Labour intensive but I’m sure he used shims, but that is for him to know and you to find out the Hardway. The mid rangers looks like sealed units so don’t need a cup, therefore can sit in the same enclosure as the Low Frequency Driver.
